Abstract: A hydrophone preamplifier control unit provides for front panel controls and cable connectors for applying a calibration current and operating voltage to the hydrophone, controlling the level of these voltages, and monitoring the operation of the hydrophone. The control unit assures the continuity of the electrical circuits to a hydrophone through the use of a calibration current applied to the hydrophone through the use of a calibration current applied to the hydrophone through an interconnecting cable.
Abstract: A method for correcting seismic data for the effects of the low-velocity-layer. According to the method, estimates of the seismic velocity in the low-velocity-layer and the depth of the low-velocity-layer are used to extrapolate the seismic data to simulated source and receiver positions located at the base of the low-velocity-layer. The data are then extrapolated to an arbitrary reference datum using a selected replacement velocity. The principles of wave equation datuming are used for these extrapolations.

Abstract: Surface image data representing a three-dimensional surface is extracted from a three-dimensional set of data representing characteristics of a volume in space (volumetric data) that encompasses the surface of an object, so that the surface image data can be used to display the surface. The volumetric data can comprise any data set in which comparisons between data can be used to ascertain points on a surface. In one embodiment of the invention, each of the pieces of volumetric data represents the intensity of light reflected in a particular direction from a point in space on or near the surface of an object. For example, the light intensity data can represent the intensity of laser light reflected back through an optical path of a laser imaging system after the laser light has been directed toward the surface of an object such as a semiconductor wafer.

Abstract: A new and distinct yaupon holly plant (Ilex vomitoria) which is particularly distinguished by being of female gender, being dwarf, and having tolerances of high and low temperatures uncommon within the species. This plant matures into mounded specimens of high density due to its lack of terminal dominance and high level of natural branching with each growth flush. This plant is unusually easy to root from cuttings and begins forming a heavy crop of attractive red berries on market liners of small size, allowing the mature characteristics of the plant to be seen at a stage where the plant could be marketed as small specimens in retail outlets, a distinct advantage for plants of this market class.
Abstract: A new and distinct Pelargonium.times.hortorum cultivar named `BFP-838 Dark Red` is provided. This new Zonal Geranium cultivar was the result of a controlled breeding program wherein a plant designated G4111-4 (non-patented in the United States) was pollinated by the `Fox` cultivar (U.S. Plant Pat. No. 7,083). The new cultivar forms attractive semi-double dark red florets. Attractive medium green foliage with zonation is well retained during shipment. The growth habit is self-branching and does not require the use of a growth regulator.
Abstract: A Dieffenbachia plant named Tropic Rain particularly characterized by its long elliptical medium green leaves with contrasting white markings and its rosetted upright habit.
Abstract: A reel for a gaming or amusement machine has a support structure for supporting the reel strip of a significantly lower moment of inertia than a standard reel drum. This is achieved by making the reel strip of stiff material and supporting it only at spaced-apart points, and relying on the strip to support itself between the supported points. The reel support for the strip may be in the form of one or two spiders, each having a plurality of radial spokes. For further support for the strip a ring member may be provided connecting the ends of the spokes. If two such spiders are used, the ring members may be interconnected.

Abstract: A cell analyzing system flows a liquid to be tested and a sheath liquid through a flattened flow passage. An image of the flattened flow passage is formed at two different magnifications. The thickness of the liquid to be tested in the flattened flow passage is changed between the two different magnifications to maintain this thickness at a value smaller than a depth of field of the apparatus forming the image. The thickness of the liquid to be tested is changed by changing its flow relationship to the sheath liquid.
Abstract: An inductive thin film magnetic head carried on a substrate having a reduced susceptibility to the "glitch" effect or "remote read" effect. The inductive thin film head uses a three point approach using hard axis only drive fields, narrow paddles and shortened pole tips which are spaced apart from a saw alley when the substrate is sliced.

The coemulsions may also comprise further constituents, including but not limited to fatty acids, ammonium hydroxide, salts and water. Processes for the production of the coemulsion and articles comprising the same are also disclosed.

Abstract: A method of enantiomerically enriching chiral cyanohydrins is disclosed that involves selective cleavage of the unwanted enantiomer into its cleavage products HCN and the corresponding aldehyde or ketone by use of an enantioselective dehydrocyanation catalyst, coupled with simultaneous removal of at least one of the dehydrocyanation products.
Abstract: A modular interactive connector unit is provided which has a base block with an array of male pins on one side and opposed female pins on the other side for interconnection between an electronic control assembly for an automotive engine and a wiring harness otherwise intended for direct connection to the electronic control assembly. The base block contains an array of contact points and adapter points which correspond with the control circuits in the electronic control assembly. Circuit completing electrical adapters from the adapter arrays on the base member support a board element having spaced apart arrays of adapter points for insertion of a circuit altering device in selected control circuits. A cap protects the board elements. The circuit altering devices alter the voltages read by the electronic control assembly to enhance performance of an engine.

The toilet also includes a source of flush water for rinsing the bowl and removing waste through the discharge opening into a waste storage tank. A pump provides the flush water through a nozzle which directs the flush water into the bowl. A check valve is associated with discharge nozzle to prevent flush water from inadvertently leaking into the bowl. The check valve is capable of being used with either a manually actuated pump or a power assisted pump and reduces the force required by the pump to maintain the valve open than to initially open it.
