  • Patent number: PP9785
Abstract: SAVacook is a miniature rose which can be grown quite satisfactorily in a greenhouse or as a hardy, garden perennial. It blooms continually throughout the growing season with buds and flowers of an apricot-yellow blend. Blooms are most often born in clusters but also singly, making them good for cut flowers. The plant, itself, grows 18 to 24 inches tall in a nice mounded form making it ideal as either a specimen plant or in a border. This variety does need winter protection in severe climates.

  • Patent number: 5596793
Abstract: An abrasion resistant slide fastener includes a coupling element attached to a support tape by stitching looper and needle threads to secure the coupling element and a filler cord, extending through the coupling element, to a support tape. The looper thread has an upper portion which engages an upper shank of the coupling element and a lower portion which engages the needle thread within the filler cord. The needle thread is stitched at a greater tension than the looper thread and secures the looper thread, the coupling element and the filler cord to the support tape. The upper portion of the looper thread, engaging the upper shank, is heated until it melts from the upper shank of the coupling element, thus eliminating the looper thread exposed to wear and forming anchor portions which engage the filler cord. • Patent number: 5596798
Abstract: An apparatus for assembling a bearing unit, particularly a wheel bearing unit for motor vehicles, in such a manner that the wheel bearing unit is of light construction, shows no prior damage and permits great flexibility in the manufacturing process. The force which is applied for the plastic deformation of the bead (9) at the end of the hub (1) is divided between the hub (1) and its support ram (11), on the one hand, and the hub flange (2) and its receiver (10) on the other hand, and thus, the necessary plastic deformation is concentrated in the region of the bead and not in the region between the hub (1) and the hub flange (2).

  • Patent number: 5596800
Abstract: A crimping tool for connecting a cable fitting to the end of a coaxial cable is made up of one or more die members having tapered die surfaces, a chuck which is axially spaced from the die surfaces to support the fitting in loosely assembled relation to the end of the cable, and a handle operates through a ratchet mechanism to cause axial movement of the chuck toward and away from the die surfaces and axially force the fitting into the die cavity so as to uniformly reduce the circumference of one end of the fitting into a generally conical configuration snugly engaging the cable.

  • Patent number: 5596801
Abstract: An apparatus and method for attaching inconsistent length plastic handles to a container. The apparatus comprises a mandrel having a bottom diameter less than that of the container and a top diameter greater than that of the container. The container rests on the mandrel until uneven forces are applied by attachment of a handle having unequal length sides, at which time the shorter arm of the handle engages the container first, causing the corresponding sides of the container to slide upwardly on the mandrel and the opposite side to slide downwardly. The downward sliding places the corresponding receptacle closer to the longer arm of the handle facilitating engagement. A die having a body and an arcuate shaped handle forming area adjacent a recess in the body delivers the handle to the container. The recess also includes end portions tapered in the direction of the arcuate bend of the handle forming area.

  • Patent number: 5596802
Abstract: The conductor end to be worked is clamped behind the conductor end section (5) to be stripped and is held in its axial position. Subsequently a scanning arrangement displaceable relative to the free end in longitudinal direction of the conductor end section (5) is used to determine the free end of this conductor end section (5), then the cutting knives (12, 13) are advanced into cutting contact with the conductor end section (5) by a distance (x) corresponding to the severing and/or insulation stripping length previously determined from the end position, and after cutting off the requested layer by means of cutting knives (12, 13) the latter are used to push the cut-off layer towards the end, and this cut-off and/or insulation stripping process can be repeated once or several times with graduated cutting depths, if need be.

  • Patent number: 5596804
Abstract: A method of constructing a circuit for communicating electrical signals and assembled at least in part by an automated assembly machine is disclosed. The automated assembly machine is operable to select from a plurality of components. The circuit includes a material having a first and second surface and a length. A strip conductor is positioned along the first surface of the material. A ground structure is disposed along the length of the second surface. Finally, a low impedance device selected from the plurality of components is electrically coupled to the ground structure on opposite sides of the strip conductor, wherein the coupling of the low impedance device to the ground structure forms a circumferential shield around the strip conductor. Various alternative embodiments, as well as fabrication methodology are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5596805
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a functional part of synthetic resin material in a bearing plate so as to have good bearing properties. The functional part is formed at a bearing plate by a synthetic-resin injection-molding technique (outsert molding technique) with a bridge portion extending through a hole having hole walls of the bearing plate and with integral retaining portions disposed at both plate surfaces laterally of the hole. The functional part consisting of the bridge portion and the retaining pieces is then changed by a deformation process following the injection-molding operation so that it forms a rotation or slide bearing together with the bearing plate. In the deformation process, the synthetic resin material is pressed away by a mandrel acting on an internal wall of a bore in the bridge portion to cause the synthetic material to flow towards the hole wall of the bearing plate and longitudinally towards the plate surfaces.

  • Patent number: 5596807
Abstract: A hand tool for compressing objects has first and second opposing pivotally connected members for receiving an object and an extension of the first pivotal member permitting striking of the extension to effect sudden and rapid compression of the object. The second pivotal member optionally has surface adapted to engage a user's hand. In a first embodiment the second pivotal member has a grip contoured surface on a receptacle member for accepting the user's fingers and a support flange extending from a pivot point on the second pivotal member for engaging a side of the user's hand. The first pivotal has a knurled portion proximate the pivot point engageable by the user's thumb. Embodiments include various combinations of support surfaces. The invention includes a method for compressing an object including placing the object between the first and second pivotal members and striking an opposing extension of one of the pivotal members to compress the object.

  • Patent number: 5596808
Abstract: A knife has a folding blade, a blade lock in the form of a leaf spring, and a safety for preventing unlocking of the lock. One form of safety has a carrier in the form of an elongate arm mounted on the knife handle. A stud is positioned on an inside surface of one end of the arm. A contact surface is formed on an outside surface of the arm opposite from the stud. The other end of the arm is pivotably attached to the handle of the knife. The arm may be swung from a release position, unobstructive of the lock, to a safety position in which the presence of the stud prevents unlocking the lock. The carrier may be spring biased toward the release position, and may have limited travel away from the handle to the release position. The carrier may also be a slide or a rotating disk.
