  • Patent number: 5621926
Abstract: The swimming pool cover system is used for removably covering any type of swimming pool and for preventing objects or persons from falling into the pool. It comprises a flexible cover sheet having an outer edge removably connectable to locations along the swimming pool periphery. For covering the pool, the outer edge of the sheet is connected to the pool periphery and a central portion of the sheet is connected to a tautening cable mounted on a boom member extending over the pool. The sheet is then suspended and tautened above the water surface. The cover system comprises a sheet bundle cable mounted on the boom member for bundling up the sheet above the water surface when the cover system is in an uncovering position. The swimming pool cover system is very advantageous over other swimming pool covers because it is very simple and rapidly installed or removed. • Patent number: 5621935
Abstract: An innerspring construction comprises a first elongate string of pocketed coil springs with each coil having a longitudinal axis lying in a first plane and a first elongate tube of fabric having first transverse seams spaced along the length of the tube to define individual coil spring pockets. The tube is alternately bent proximate the first seams such that every other first seam lies on the same side of the first plane. A second elongate string of pocketed coils in which each coil has a longitudinal axis lying in a second plane has a second elongate tube of fabric with second transverse seams spaced along the length of the tube to define individual coil pockets. The second elongate string is attached to the first elongate string by bonds formed between circumferentially abutting surfaces on the coil pockets of the first and second tubes of fabric. The resulting construction provides for reduced tendency for leaning coils and permits greater innerspring firmness for a given coil wire diameter.

  • Patent number: 5621944
Abstract: Wiper device includes an arm system composed of an arm head, arm retainer and an arm piece that are connected together. The arm system has a movable portion which is capable of moving a wiping direction. A rubber vibration damper is disposed at the movable portion which is formed, for example, between the arm retainer and the arm piece of the arm system. When the wiper device is operating, an exciting force produced between the surface of a windshield and a wiper blade is transmitted to the arm piece and tends to oscillate the arm piece in the wiping direction about the movable portion. In this instance, the rubber vibration damper elastically deforms and dampens the vibrational force applied to the movable portion.

  • Patent number: 5621948
Abstract: A method of processing and depositing sliver includes the following steps: drafting the running sliver in a drawing frame; forwarding the sliver by the drawing frame to a coiler head having a sliver outlet; depositing the sliver by the coiler head into a coiler can located underneath the coiler head; replacing a coiler can filled with sliver with an empty coiler can; and rupturing the sliver during the replacing step. To obtain the desired rupture of the sliver, the draft of the running sliver is increased in the drawing frame to such an extent as to provide a location of reduced thickness in the running sliver. Thereupon the filled can is moved away from under the coiler head when the location of reduced thickness in the running sliver is situated in a zone of the sliver outlet of the coiler head.

  • Patent number: 5621954
Abstract: In a slider for a slide fastener, front and rear attachment lugs are arranged on the upper surface of an upper wing of a slider body, each having a horizontal insertion hole and an arcuate guide surface contiguous to the insertion hole. A pull tab retaining bar has a length so as to bridge over the front and rear attachment lugs and has a pair of taper legs one on each end. For assembly, with a pintle of a pull tab placed between the two attachment lugs, the legs are forced into the insertion holes along the guide surfaces as they deform prastically, securing the pull tab retaining bar to the attachment lugs. Accordingly, the pull tab retaining bar can be attached to the slider body simply by pressing from the upper side, thus facilitating automatic assembling.

In a first embodiment, the flanges (16a) and (16b) project downwardly and embed within depressions (34) formed upon outer surface (32) of the conduit (30) to lock the ring member (10) onto the conduit. In the second embodiment, the flanges (116a) and (116b) project upwardly and the inner surface (112) of the ring member (110) is positioned within a depression (134) formed on the surface (132) of the conduit (130) which locks the ring member (110) onto the conduit (130).

The apparatus includes a die assembly which cooperates with a punch. The die assembly includes an elongated mandrel having an anvil projecting axially from one end for deforming the sheets of material squeezed between the anvil and the punch. The mandrel is larger than the anvil to define a shoulder thereabout generally perpendicular to the die axis. An expandable die button is coaxially aligned upon the mandrel and is provided with a base ring encircling the mandrel and a plurality of die segments. The die segments each have a head portion and a leaf portion extending between the head and the base ring.

Abstract: A method of upsetting a rivet, having a headed end and a nose end, in a countersunk hole in a workpiece using an electromagnetic riveting machine having two opposed drivers, one at each end of the rivet. The rivet is upset by impelling the drivers in the electromagnetic riveter against each end of the rivet to upset the tail of the rivet into a button, and expand the shank on the rivet within the hole in the workpiece. The force exerted by the driver at the headed end of the rivet is distributed in a broader, lower time/force curve than the force distribution exerted by the driver at the nose end of the rivet, so the force on the headed end driver is lower than the force on the tail end driver to prevent dimpling of the workpiece, and the greater force on the tail end driver imparts a certain momentum to begin upsetting the tail end of the rivet, while the force exerted by the headed end driver increases sufficiently to upset the rivet shank in the vicinity of the rivet head.

Abstract: In very high speed adiabatic face milling machines whose operation provides a highly efficient machining process suitable for production manufacturing conditions, it is essential that appropriate fixturing is utilized to position and support the workpiece in order to induce added rigidity to the workpiece while reliably clamping and dampening each workpiece to enable machining to withstand small flatness tolerances. Accordingly, primary rests are spaced apart relative to one another to ensure that a stable platform is provided for each workpiece. Force inducement devices are strategically positioned along peripheral edges of the workpiece to selectively deflect the workpiece and thereby significantly add rigidity to the workpiece to better withstand the cutting forces associated with the milling operation.

Abstract: A tube puller, also called a traveler, removes tubes from the tube sheet of a heat exchanger for replacement. The tubes must first be broken free from the tube sheet and moved several inches by another device not associated with the traveler. The traveler includes a frame mounting a hydraulic motor. Inside the frame, a single driver mounted on the shaft of the motor is a wheel having a toothed circumference. The teeth of the driver engage one side of the tube to be removed. An unpowered idler is positioned on the opposite side of the tube from the driver. An actuator may move the idler selectively toward and away from the driver for altering the nip between the driver and idler to initially receive the tube. The actuator then presses the idler against the opposite side of the tube, holding the tube against the driver, but has no power to advance the tube longitudinally. Together, the idler and driver apply lateral forces that tend to deform the tube and may crush the tube completely as it is pulled.

Abstract: A unique, highly effective, electric dry shaver incorporating rotary cutting blades for use by women to effectively, conveniently, and comfortably shave both legs and underarms is achieved by incorporating a blade guard removably mountable to the electric shaver for partially blocking the rotary cutting blades while also smoothing and/or stretching the soft underarm skin. By employing the rotary cutting blade guard of the present invention, the soft, pliable skin typically found in underarms is comfortably smoothed, spread, and/or stretched to prevent any cutting or pinching of the skin by the blades. As a result, a close, comfortable shave is attained, with all of the hair being completed cut, regardless of the contours of the skin surface or the soft, pliable nature of the skin. Furthermore, when the legs are to be shaven, the blade guard is removed thereby fully exposing the side walls of the slotted outer cutter so it can be used in its entirety.
