  • Patent number: 5903945
Abstract: A pipeline pig has a body with two symmetrical, flexible end portions which give the pig a generally ovate appearance. The end portions are separated by and contain a flexible core. The end portions have a rounded exterior surface and an internal cylindrical cavity. Each cavity has a beveled entry portion for receiving the core. Each end portion also has an outer cleaning area for an abrasive band with teeth for scrubbing a pipeline. Polishing teeth are on an upper portion of the band while coarse teeth are on a lower portion of the band. The core allows the pig to flex as it passes through nonlinear pipeline. The core has a flexible linkage which gives the pig the ability to undergo extensive flexing while maintaining the integrity and strength of the pig. Each end of the linkage receives a bolt which extends through an axial hole in each end portion for fastening the end portions to the core. As the pig moves through pipeline with light build-up, the polishing teeth gently remove it.

  • Patent number: 5903965
Abstract: A method for applying a low friction coating to the cooperating splines of a slip joint that results in precise conformance between the intermeshing splines of the telescoping members includes the initial steps of cleaning, priming, and coating the splines of a tube shaft with a low friction material. Then, the coating on the splines is shaped to precisely conform to internal splines provided on a slip yoke of the slip joint. To accomplish this, an annular die is provided having a generally hollow and cylindrical shape, but tapering from a relatively large diameter upper end to a relatively small lower end. Thus, an inner frusto-conical surface is defined through the center of the die. A plurality of tapered splines is formed on the inner frusto-conical surface of the die that are generally shaped in a complementary fashion to the splines formed on the tube shaft. The die may be provided with a device for heating the die to a desired temperature.

  • Patent number: 5903972
Abstract: An adaptor tool for mounting components onto printed circuit boards. The adaptor tool has two capture members that define an opening sized to receive the component. The capture members are linked together such that the application of torque to the adaptor tool by a torque tool via a connector results in the two capture members frictionally engaging the component and transferring the torque to the component. This allows the component to be mounted to the printed circuit board to a desired degree of torque. The adaptor tool can be sized so as to be able to mount a cylindrical heat sink to a bracket on a printed circuit board to a desired degree of torque.

  • Patent number: 5903977
Abstract: Heatsink devices are formed by attaching a plurality of fin members to a planar base member. A primary strip of thermally conducive material forms base members which are assembled with fin members formed from a secondary sheet of thermally conducting material. Each fin member is secured to a respective portion of the primary strip. The primary strip is advanced with the fin members secured thereto to be parted off to provide the heatsink devices. The synchronization of the forming of fins with the assembly reduces manual input to the manufacturing process, negates the need to hold stocks of preformed fins and increases design freedom with respect to dimensions of the heatsinks being formed.

  • Patent number: 5903978
Abstract: A razor caddy receives a razor handle suitable for supporting a razor cartridge. The top and bottom handle surfaces have a continuous index finger profile when gripped on the top surface of the razor handle. The razor handle has a widened portion proximate to a proximate end, and side portions of the razor handle form a concave profile between the proximate end and the distal end. The side portions also form a widened portion at the distal end. The index finger profile of the razor handle defines a detail and a normal shaving position structure in combination with the handle top and bottom surface. First and second elastomeric gripping portions are each positioned on the bottom of the handle. The detail shaving position is achieved by the first gripping portion having a defined thumb engaging area proximate to the proximate end, with the elastomeric material defining correct thumb placement. • Patent number: 5903982
Abstract: A hand-held bagel slicer is described for circumferentially slicing a bagel into two equal halves. The slicer comprises a generally U-shaped clip attached to a handle. The clip comprises a generally semi-circular bight and two flexible legs. The legs converge slightly from the bight to their free ends to hold the bagel sideways, and the free ends are outwardly flared to facilitate insertion of the bagel for slicing. Midway between the two legs is a 2 edged knife blade. The blade has a base secured to the bight and a tip terminating in a point. The blade is about 50 to 75% of the length of the legs. The free end of the handle is generally elliptical in cross section. The handle decreases in cross-sectional size and becomes generally rectangular in shape toward the flared end. The clip is joined to a core which has one or more small cross ribs extending laterally from a center rib to match with a similarly shaped recess in the handle to prevent relative rotation between the handle and the clip.

Abstract: A side plow assembly for an automotive vehicle, particularly a lightweight vehicle such as a lightweight truck, pick-up or like vehicle, and then particularly a four-wheel drive vehicle. The assembly includes a plow share mounted on one side of the vehicle. Seen in the normal direction of travel of the vehicle, the front end of the plow share is pivotally connected to the vehicle chassis by a joint. The rear part of the share, as seen in the travel direction, is connected to a rear chassis part by an elongated brace whose length can be varied for adjustment of the angle of the side share in the horizontal plane relative to the travel direction. The brace is also pivotally connected to the chassis. The assembly also includes a lifting device which is connected between the plow share and the vehicle and functions to lift the share away from a ground surface and to lower the share into contact with the ground surface respectively.
