  • Patent number: 5933921
Abstract: The position of foreign matter in a bale pattern after its separation in a separating device (10) may be evaluated in that the relative position of the opening device (1) and the transport time of the fibers between the opening device (1) and the separating device (10) is determined in each relative position. Given a separating procedure, taking account of the mentioned variables, the position of the opening device (1) at the point in time of opening the foreign matter (28) is evaluated. The determined opening position of the foreign matter on the fiber bales (27) is stored as a signal and subsequently preferably graphically represented. • Patent number: 5933931
Abstract: An improved fabric hydroenhancement method provides for inducing turbulence in a fluid flow in a hydroenhancing manifold and applying the turbulent fluid flow to impinge on a row of orifices of a jet strip in a manifold, such that jet streams issuing from the jet orifices at an output end of the manifold are formed with a constant state of fluctuation in their cross-sectional shape, direction, and structure. This results in the jet streams distributing their delivered energy over constantly changing impact areas on the fabric, whereby more of the delivered energy is converted into enhancement energy for hydroenhancing the fabric. The turbulent hydroenhancing method is also found to obtain a significant reduction in fabric shrinkage, and also eliminates the generation of interference patterns in the fabric. Turbulence is induced by positioning a baffle below the distribution element in the manifold with its lower end in close proximity to the row of jet orifices. Various types of baffle designs may be used.

Retainer ring engagement nibs are secured to extension arms that project from distal ends of the swing arms. Threaded follower blocks pivotally secured to each of the swing arms receive respectively threaded opposite ends of the drive shaft. A midposition of the drive shaft is secured to the post element with rotational freedom and axial restraint. Thread leads of the two follower blocks are oppositely turned to produce oppositely directed movement of the retainer ring nibs when the drive shaft is rotated.

Abstract: A safety vise for collection and disposal of used hypodermic needles, having an associated disinfecting apparatus which is operably coupled to a viseing mechanism to prevent its subsequent use unless a disinfecting operation using the disinfecting apparatus is performed. The safety vise is primarily intended for reclaiming the sleeve of a pistonless blood collection system, like VACUTAINER.RTM. assemblies, assembled from three independent sections: a sleeve, a specimen tube, and a double-ended needle. A disposable, needle collection container seats a project top. The project top includes a first station having guard elements particularly structured for safely removing a double-ended needle, and a second station for disinfecting the sleeve.

Abstract: A clamp structure with a clamping band which can be used, for example, to fixedly secure a hose on a nipple and which includes a tightening arrangement for tightening the clamp structure about the object to be fastened and a tolerance-compensating arrangement for the entire tolerance range of the hose and nipple. The tolerance-compensating arrangement is thereby formed by a slot-like opening punched-out of the clamping band which is of such width and length that the lateral clamping band portions left on both sides of the slot-like opening provide tolerance compensation at the clamping forces specified by the customer, taking into consideration also the fact that the material of the lateral band portions is work-hardened by the punching-out operation of the tolerance-compensating opening.

Abstract: The process comprises forming a tube (1) of an electrically conductive material having on its inner surface axial grooves (2) and axial projecting portions (3) between the latter, injecting a hardenable insulating material (4) into the tube (1) so as to fill the latter, this material penetrating the grooves and surrounding the projecting portions, and removing the outer portion of the tube (1) after the hardening of the insulating material so as to reveal the insulating material of the grooves (2) and form between the latter commutator segments which are insulated from one another. The tube (1) is formed by the extrusion of two complementary half-tube shells (1a, 1b) and the assembly of the latter one against the other on an axial joint plane (A--A).

Abstract: A matrix type magnetic recording/reading head made in integrated fashion, including an electrically non-conductive ceramic substrate having a first main face and a second main face, each provided with connection areas. The two areas of the two faces are interconnected in sets of two by internal connection elements. A layer with high magnetic permeability is deposited on the first face of the substrate. The substrate bears a first series of row conductors and a second series of column conductors intersecting the row conductors, each conductor being connected to a connection area of the first face. Pairs of magnetic poles are located substantially at the intersection of the row conductor and column conductors, the poles of each pair separated by a gap space and being magnetically coupled to the layer with high magnetic permeability in two opposite zones defined by the intersection of a row conductor and a column conductor.

  • Patent number: 5933941
Abstract: The present invention provides a new and improved system for holding a metallic on non-metallic sheet work piece in place on the X- and Y- axes for use in connection with a semi-automatic fastener insertion machine. The system utilizes cantilevered support arms to hold the work piece in place between the upper and lower tooling of the insertion press allowing easy removal and repositioning of the work piece. The arms of the system may be retracted away from the tooling of the press making the tooling open and available for other uses. This flexibility allows the present system to be used to insert fasteners into one surface of an multi-surface sheet which may then be easily removed and repositioned to allow insertions into the remaining surface(s). In addition, instead of rigid clamps, the positioning system also uses a set of adjustable alignment pins (or an adjustable tray) which provide a variable amount of "float" in the location of the work piece relative to the tooling.

Abstract: Products and methods relating to composite materials and their use in coiled tubing is disclosed. The composite tubing is a pressurized means of conveying fluids downhole in a wellbore. It comprises a multilayered laminate that resists buckling within the wellbore and is fabricated into a hollow tube. The fibers are oriented in angular relationship to the longitudinal direction of the coiled tubing such as to provide appropriate strength and buckling characteristics to the coiled tubing. Further, the coiled tubing layered laminate may transmit signals representing data from downhole to the surface. In some embodiments, a composite disconnecting means comprised of a blend of fibers of different types or orientations is shown. The disconnecting means shows a failure load range corresponding to the failure characteristics of the fiber blend, the fiber blend having a predetermined failure limit.
