  • Patent number: 5991981
Abstract: A slider of a slide fastener is free from any damage that may arise when a lug is deformed and springs back and an upper wing is protected against undesired deformation. A pair of rear lateral legs project downward from the lug. A gap is defined between the rear lateral legs and the upper wing. One or more longitudinal ribs are formed on the lower surface of the lug. If excessively pinching force is applied to the lug to close the gap, the upper wing is kept free from any local deformation because the rear lateral legs absorb the excessive force. Also, if the lug springs back, because the rear lateral legs restore their original positions, they are held in close contact with the upper wing.

  • Patent number: 5991986
Abstract: A buckle is shown having two side members that define an upper face and a lower face, with at least three stationary transverse members disposed between and connecting facing inner surfaces of the side members. The three transverse members are substantially parallel to each other and define therebetween belt passageways through which a belt can be threaded and looped around a center one of the transverse members to adjustably secure the belt relative to the buckle. A flange protrudes into one of the belt passageways from substantially the entire length of the center transverse member. The flange is angled toward a first end of the belt passageway, and the distal end of the flange is spaced from the adjacent transverse member by an amount that is slightly larger than the thickness of the belt to be threaded through the belt passageway. The flange prevents threading of a belt through the belt passageway from the first end of the passageway.

  • Patent number: 5991987
Abstract: Preforms for producing annular parts of composite material are produced by inding a strip (1) of fibrous material around an elliptical mandrel (10) to produce an elliptical sleeve which can be cut obliquely, cutting taking place either before or after one or more densification steps. The cutting plane is inclined relative to the right cross section of the elliptical sleeve, and the inner and outer portions of the cut rings are machined to obtain circular elements. Such elements can produce annular parts of composite material having a reduced tendency to delanination under circumferential stress. The superposed layers are needling together during winding. A uniform needling density per unit area can be obtained by controlled displacement of the needle board (5) and of the elliptical mandrel (10) relative to each other as the mandrel turns, to compensate for the eccentricity of the cross section of the mandrel. These methods are particularly suitable for producing brake disk preforms.

  • Patent number: 5992012
Abstract: In the manufacture of Printed Circuit (PC) boards, conductors are placed in a base layer of glass cloth. The conductors penetrate the thickness of the cloth and can be arranged to form a matrix or grid. The arrangement of cloth and conductors is then cured with resin with the wire lengths disposed within the cured board core. The wire lengths can be made flush with the board core surfaces and become the electrical conductors between circuitry on such surfaces. In one embodiment, the wire is removed leaving a finished hole ready for standard through-hole plating. These finished circuit boards can be stacked and laminated forming through, blind, or buried vias. One or more finished circuit boards with imbedded vias can be used as circuitry redistribution layers to avoid dense circuit patterns in applications such as in flip-chip mounting of integrated circuit chips. In another embodiment, the conductors are imbedded in the glass cloth with sufficient density to form a composite thick conductor.

  • Patent number: 5992013
Abstract: An apparatus and method for mounting electronic components in which mounting positions are determined by observing identification marks A, B, C and D on a substrate with a camera. The electronic components are mounted on the substrate by correcting programmed data according to the result of the determination of the mounting positions. Correction values are obtained for coordinates of the mounting position with reference to each of a plurality of combinations of any three positions (e.g. A, B and C) selected among the at least four positions of the identification marks A, B, C and D based on coordinate data of the three selected positions before and after deformation (one based on the design data and the other based on the data determined during mounting process). A correction of the programmed data for coordinates of the mounting position is made using a positional correction value, which is a mean value of the correction values.
