    Abstract: According to the invention, the temperature and flow rate of cooling water for removing the heat of absorption are controlled artificially according to the cold output of load water by utilizing heated cooling water after the removal of the heat of absorption or heat source water, etc. According to the invention, a coolant tank and a load heat exchanger unit are provided as separate units. A load carrier is provided for cooling the load while partly evaporating the coolant through heat exchange between liquid coolant supplied from the coolant supplied from the coolant tank through a pump and the load. Mixture fluid of liquid coolant and vapor coolant after the heat exchange in the load cooler are returned to the coolant tank for separation of gas and liquid. Because the coolant tank and the load cooler are provided separately, the heat exchange with the load is performed by utilizing the latent heat of evaporation of coolant independently of possible temperature variations in the coolant tank.

    Abstract: An insulating mounting bracket for a pressure vessel in an engine compartment of an automobile, the pressure vessel having an elongated cylindrical sleeve having an outwardly projecting flange for attaching the pressure vessel within an engine compartment. The elongated cylindrical sleeve has a corrugated surface creating air pockets in the space between the insulating bracket and the pressure vessel contained therein. In one embodiment, the sleeve is open at both ends, in an alternate embodiment the lower end of the sleeve is narrowed and used as a connecting point. In both embodiments, the sleeve accommodates condensate run off and prevents moisture from accumulating in the air pockets. The flange has fasteners molded integral with the insulating bracket to facilitate mounting within the engine compartment.

The treatment is able to reduce the roughness, as measured by RA, in overcladding tubes formed by a sol-gel process by at least a factor of 2, typically at least a factor of 5. It is also possible to improve the smoothness of silica tubes that are drawn from a billet. Typically, the process reduces the roughness of silica bodies to an RA of about 1 microinch or less.

    Abstract: The method and apparatus for picking a lock which utilizes a single blade or pair of elongated thin, rigid, interchangeable blades which are to be inserted within the keyway of the lock. Each of the blades have an upper hiatused surface and can have an off-center sharpened edge so that the sharpened edge will contact the cylindrical lock pins of the lock spaced from the center of each of the lock pins. The off-center sharpened edge could be formed by beveling the side of the blade or by making a cutout in the blade. The hiatused surface of the blades cause the lock pins of the lock to move lineally with the sharpened edge causing the lock pins to pivot. Instead of a hiatused surface, there could be used one or more deflectable members, tufts of bristles or a brush. The blades are to be driven in a reciprocal manner with one blade moving in and the opposite blade moving out.

    Abstract: A flexure assembly is provided for coupling and electrically interconnecting the rotors of an inertial multisensor. The rotor assembly is fixed to the base of the multisensor by means of a plurality of outer ring segments that attach to the base. An inner coupling ring is attached at its top and bottom surfaces to trapezoidal spring connectors associated with the rotors. Drive assemblies, each including a pair of radially-directed vanes with paired piezoelectric elements fixed to opposite vane surfaces, are fixed to each rotor. The vanes are connected by trapezoidal connector pieces, which, in turn, connect to the outer ring segments bolted to the base. Radial flexure springs, along with the vanes, are joined to central rotor hubs. Rotor arms also radiate from the rotor hubs. The stiffness of the flexure springs substantially sets the resonant frequency of the coupling flexure assembly that includes the counter-oscillating rotors.

    Abstract: An aerial towed hit detector used together with a sleeve target can obtain an oscillatory movement in the roll angular direction because of the small aerodynamic stability of the target. For determining the path or the miss distance of a projectile passing by the target and the hit detector, the position of the hit detector in the air is measured for allowing a compensation to be made in the determination of hit parameters of the projectile. In the determination of the position of the hit indicator tow accelerometers are used measuring the acceleration laterally or in a tangential direction. One accelerometer is attached to the hit detector and one to the tow rod. By forming the difference of the signals from the accelerometers and integrating the difference signal in two steps information of the angular position of the hit indicator is obtained. This calculation is made in a microprocessor for those times when pressure waves from projectiles hit the hit detector.
