Abstract: The present invention provides a puncture-resistant glove for protecting a hand comprising a palmar side and a dorsal side. The glove comprises a palmar portion designed to fit over the palmar side of the hand, the palmar portion being made of a puncture-resistant material comprising a plurality of layers of tightly woven base fabric having a density in excess of 80 threads per inch in at least the warp and fill directions and having warp yarn cover of at least 100% at the fill pick. The glove also comprises a dorsal portion designed to fit over at least part of the dorsal side of the hand, the dorsal portion being sewn to the palmar portion along seams, and being made of a stretchable material.

Abstract: Protective head wear or cover for use in conjunction with a visor is disclosed. A top hair cover is provided with a front bill cover having an elastic front edge. This elastic front edge is fitted underneath the front edge of the bill of the visor, holding the protective cover in place. A lower rear edge of the cover is provided with elastic so as to assist in holding the cover to the back of a head of a user. A cape may be removably attached to this lower rear edge, the cape further provided with a drawstring for securing the cape about the neck of the user. Significantly, the cover and cape are constructed of a light weight, water resistant vapor permeable material for enhancing comfort of the user and preventing disturbance to a hairdo of the user. The drawstring gathers the cape about the neck of a user so that when the user bends forward, the cape remains secured about the users neck, preventing interference with vision and are movement.

Abstract: A free-size cap is capable of fitting wearers having a range of head sizes. The cap includes a multi-gore shell forming a crown portion, a headband having a plurality of slits thereon and a stretchable fabric interconnecting the crown and the headband. Further, a sponge-containing headband is secured to the lower peripheral edge of the crown by the stretchable fabric, and the headband is stretchable in accordance with stretching of the crown. The structure permits a cap to be designed which is produced easily, attractive in use or other time by keeping its shape, comfortable for the wearer by causing no oppression, and further provides the advantageous feature of multiple size capability.

Abstract: A mirror assembly is provided that can be affixed to a helmet for use by snowmobile, motorcycle and ATV vehicle riders. The mirrors are capable of adjustment in three directions and are detachable from the helmet.

Abstract: An air stream deflector for a convexly curved helmet including a continuous or segmented, semicircular, elongated lip projecting from the rear and side surfaces of the helmet closely adjacent the lower edge thereof. The lip may be integral with the helmet or include a curved attachment surface adapted to be connected to the helmet surface. The lip includes an outwardly and upwardly curved deflector surface with a rolled outer edge for channeling moisture and debris forwardly.

Abstract: A padding device is provided for a pair of swimming goggles. The padding device includes a connecting portion connected to a lens of the pair of the swimming goggles. An elastic annular extension extends inwardly from an inner wall of the connecting portion. A flange extends from the elastic annular extension to thereby define an annular groove between the inner wall of the connecting portion, the annular extension, and the flange. The flange provides a close contact with an eye socket of a user. A plastic protective ring is received in the annular groove for preventing the flange from being contacted with a rigid portion of the pair of swimming goggles.

Abstract: A protective head gear includes a generally open head portion and a collar portion. The protective head gear is for use in contact sports by an athlete wearing a helmet. The head portion is generally open and has a crown segment and a pair of opposed side segments. The crown segment has a crown base and each side segment has a side base. The head portion is spaced upwardly and outwardly from the helmet. The crown segment and each side segment are contoured to and spaced from the shape of the helmet. The collar portion is hingeably connected to the crown base. The collar portion having a generally rigid layer adapted to be positioned around the athlete's neck and to transmit the force from a hit on the head portion to the collar portion. In use, the collar portion is attached to the athlete.

The invention is characterized in that at least the combustion space's (34) lower part is formed principally spherically and that the heating coils (44) are arranged in the upper part of the combustion space round its circumference.

Abstract: A toilet ventilation system moves air from within a toilet bowl and through a filter, or alternatively, out of the building by means of an exhaust pipe or duct. The ventilation system provides a toilet seat assembly having an air channel defined by the lower surface of the seat. An air channel cover is removably held in place on the lower surface of the toilet seat, covering the air channel. By removing the air channel cover the user may easily clean the air channel. A bowl-mounted base and enclosure is attached to the toilet bowl by means of the standard mounting bolts used to attach toilet seats. The toilet seat and lid are pivotally carried by the bowl-mounted base. A reservoir with a drain opening prevents the passage of liquid into a fan and filter housing. The fan and filter housing, carried by the bowl-mounted base, contains a fan powered by a direct current electrical system and an activated charcoal filter.

Abstract: An offset toilet flange for connecting an outlet of a toilet bowl with waste water drain conduit is shown. The toilet flange includes an outer flange having an upper surface and a lower surface. The outer flange has at least two generally opposed first apertures which extend through the flange between the upper surface and the lower surface for retaining fasteners for securing the flange to an underlying surface. At least a portion of the lower surface lies against the underlying surface. The flange also includes at least two second apertures extending from the lower surface to the upper surface for retaining fasteners connecting the flange to the toilet bowl. A seat is also provided for a toilet bowl seal, the seat being located inside of the flange and being circular in plan and inwardly curved in profile.

Abstract: The present invention relates to toilet training aids. The invention is a training aid which includes a training seat and a stand-up trainer. One embodiment of the training aid includes a child sized toilet seat. The seat defines a seat opening therein. A back extends upward from and away from the seat opening. And a plurality of sides depends from the back, the sides and the back forming a hooded splash guard having a target opening facing away from the seat, the splash guard adapted to direct fluid toward the toilet.

Abstract: A system for preventing a toilet bowl from overflowing is disclosed. The system includes a sensor mounted to the toilet bowl at a location above a normal water level for the toilet bowl. The sensor is operative to sense the water level in the toilet bowl, and generates a warning signal if the level is above the normal level. The system further includes a valve connected to the water conduit feeding the toilet bowl, the valve being displaceable to respective open and closed positions. A drive assembly is connected to the valve to drive the valve to the open and closed positions. The system still further includes a processor electrically coupled with the sensor and the drive assembly to enable the drive assembly upon receiving the warning signal from the sensor.

Abstract: A waterless closet assembly comprises a closet having an inlet and an outlet, and a seat member disposed over the inlet of the closet. A tubular film extends over an upper surface of the seat member and downwardly through the closet and through the outlet of the closet. A first container has an inlet and an outlet and is positioned to receive through the inlet thereof the tubular film extending through the outlet of the closet. A sealing mechanism is disposed in the first container for sealing the tubular film into individual waste compartments. A second container has an inlet connected to the outlet of the first container for receiving the individual waste compartments. An advancing mechanism advances the tubular film over the upper surface of the seat member, through the closet, through the outlet of the closet, and through the sealing mechanism to form the individual waste compartments, and advances the individual waste compartments into the container through the inlet thereof.

Abstract: A float retaining cover device 10 comprising a non-permeable cover sheet 12 supported by a floating member 14. The latter can be a free-floating retention method using grommets 20 attached to the central underside of the cover sheet 12 and on the float 14 with a cord 22 fastening the two together, or a system using straps and fasteners. An enclosed retaining pocket 16 can also be employed to maintain the float 14. When a permeable sheet is used to form the retaining pocket 16, there is a sealable recess 40 in the sheet of the pocket 16 to insert and remove the float 14. When the retaining pocket 16 is non-permeable, all edges are hermetically sealed to the bottom of the cover sheet 12 and the recess 24 is located on the cover sheet 12 in a central position in relation to the retaining pocket 16. The recess 24 has an elastomeric border 26 that allows the float 14 to pass through when there is excessive pressure pushing down on the cover sheet.

Abstract: A whirlpool bath assembly with a recirculation pump fed from the bath by a suction pipe and then to venturi jet units through by system feed pipes. Further air pipes feed the venturi jet units. A drain-off valve connects the pump through a drain pipe to a waste-water drain. All the units forming the assembly are constructed so as to provide a gravity drain-off into the bath and drain pipe. This is done by ensuring that height of the surfaces over which drain-off water flows when the assembly is inoperative reduce continuously without forming any water retaining recesses.

Abstract: A method of providing and maintaining a plurality of clean, sanitary bedspreads for a hostelry having sleeping accommodations for a plurality of guests. The method includes providing a plurality of bedspreads, and each bedspread includes (i) a removable liner having an insulating core and two outer layers where each outer layer is a nonabsorbent, flame retardant material, and (ii) an outer shell having two outer layers defining a pocket therebetween for removably receiving the liner. The outer shell is closed at one end and has a fastener, preferably a zipper that is enclosed and hidden by a zipper fold, along the other three sides.

Abstract: A mattress having a wedge-shaped mattress body with an inclined upper surface, the upper surface divided by a transverse breast concavity into a head-supporting portion and a body-supporting portion. The mattress has a flat position in which the concavity is open to receive breasts as well as an upright position in which the concavity functions as a hinging mechanism and the mattress is held in the upright position by adjustable mechanisms. In the flat position the mattress may be used in the prone position, laying on the back, or in a yoga position. In the upright position, the mattress may be used laying on the back and partially sitting upright, or, by adjusting the position of the mattress, sitting upright.

Abstract: A body support pillow stuffed with a resilient deformable filler having a U-shaped central section and depending legs, the pillow having a center opening equal to the body width of a user. In a first embodiment the pillow's total length is substantially equal to the height of a user, and the legs are selectively foldable over one another to create a double thickness for additional support under the user's knees, with a detachable body-encircling strap securing the pillow about the user. In a second embodiment for use in a chair the legs support the arms of a user, and may be raised by rotating them 90 degrees. In a third embodiment, the interior of the pillow is divided by sewn-in baffles into three separately stuffable compartments all accessible through a single continuous zipper opening.

Abstract: A cranial suspension apparatus to prevent positional plagiocephaly in an infant by distributing loads on the head of the infant lying in the supine position on a horizontal surface. The infant is placed in the apparatus such that the head of the infant is supported on a flexible porous support material with the tension of the material adjusted to support the head just above or just touching the sleep surface. The flexible porous support material may be a net with an open weave. The apparatus prevents localized pressure on the infant's head in an area contacting a sleep surface when infants are routinely placed in the supine position, which is recommended to avoid sudden infant death syndrome.

Abstract: A suitable support device for newborns including premature babies comprises a doughnut-shaped structure having a gel-filled GORE-TEX casing of about five to six inches outer diameter with a central aperture of about two to three inches in diameter. The structure provides an annular tube having about a 1 to 2 inch diameter. The tube is preferably circular in cross-section at the rear or head region and preferably flattened to provide a generally oval cross-section at the front or neck region. The case is filled with a cohesive gel mass such as silicone gel or silicone elastomers with sufficiently cross-linked polysiloxane networks to substantially retain a selected shape despite the force of a limited incident weight.

A mattress includes a flat layer of foam that is temperature sensitive and which has rate-dependent deflection which provides maximal hysteric dampening and maximal tissue/surface interface contact. Different stiffnesses of foam are used under key areas to allow support and at the same time to allow the tissue to reach mechanical equilibrium. The maximal surface contact will apply constant low pressure to the tissues, thus reducing the shear force and the risk of tissue injury.

Abstract: A fluid distribution device for distributing cleaning fluid to the floor surface comprises a hollow tube extender attached to a hollow fixed shaft. A hub assembly having a plurality of hollow open-ended spokes is rotatably mounted to the tube extender. If used with a brush floor cleaning apparatus a portion of each spoke extends into and terminates within a radial passage in the brush.

Abstract: A plurality of washing sections 6, 7, and 8 for individually washing different portions of a cassette body 111 in a washing liquid 3 using washing brushes 10, 14, and 20, respectively, are sequentially formed in a groove-shaped washing vessel 2 through which the washing liquid 3 flows continuously. A plurality of transfer means 26, 27, and 28 for chucking the cassette body 111 being washed to bring it into contact with the washing brushes 10, 14, and 20, respectively, and for transferring the cassette body 111 that has been washed to the washing section upstream are provided so as to correspond to the washing sections 6, 7, and 8, respectively.

Abstract: A truck mop for cleaning the difficult to reach areas of a pick-up truck, or similar motor vehicle, such as the area between the cab and the cap of the pick-up truck and a method for using the truck mop. The truck mop includes a plate or support body with sponges secured to either side of the plate. The support body and sponge combination has a sufficiently large surface area to effectively clean the cab and cap of the pick-up truck, and a small enough thickness to allow the device to fit between the cab and the cap of the pick-up truck. The support body is attached to a handle of sufficient length to allow the cab and the cap to be sufficiently cleaned.

Abstract: The invention relates to a scraper arrangement for attachment to at least one of at least two machine parts which are movable relative to one other, particularly for protection of guideways in machine tools. In this case a scraper strip made from elastically deformable material is replaceably retained on a rigid carrier strip which for its part is releasably connected to a machine part. With a view to a reliable attachment and quick replacement of carrier strip and scraper strip, at least one approximately strip-shaped intermediate carrier can be firmly attached to one machine part and with the aid of at least one C-shaped clamp can be replaceably fixed on a front end edge region of the machine part.

Abstract: A novel lobby dust pan for receipt of floor sweepings including a light-weight tube having a first downwardly directed portion for carrying by a handle located thereabove; a second portion, spaced-apart from the handle, bending away from the first portion; and, a third portion bending away from the second portion and terminating at near floor level, a frame, formed by interconnecting frame sides, located opposite the third tube portion, attached to the tube and defining an opening projecting forward and above floor level; and, a non-rigid container, having an opening attached about the frame and extending rearward to incase the second and the third tube portions therein, for receipt of dust and debris swept from the floor through the frame opening where the second and the third tube portions provide interior support for the container.

Abstract: A vacuum system is described in which a hollow vacuum housing is provided with an intake plenum leading from an open bottom housing end of the housing to a vacuum line connector. A vacuum pump is attached to the vacuum line to produce suction through the intake plenum. A hot air housing is situated within the hollow vacuum housing and includes a hot air discharge plenum. The hot air discharge plenum is defined by a wall within the intake plenum, leading from an open bottom end that is substantially circumscribed by the intake plenum. A hot air blower on the hot air housing moves hot air downwardly. The hot air moves against the surface being cleaned or dried and is subsequently drawn back upwardly through the intake plenum. At least one and preferably two compressed injection air discharge lines are positioned within the hot air housing.

Abstract: A cord rewinder assembly for a wet filter type vacuum cleaner with a moist air discharge outlet includes a conventional cord rewinder and a deflector plate. The deflector plate not only shields the cord rewinder from direct contact with the moist airflow discharge but also functions to remove moisture from the airflow so that it can be utilized to cool the electrical components of the cord rewinder. Incoming air carrying dirt and dust is cleaned by passing the air stream through a canister of water and a series of secondary filters. The clean discharge air, which contains moisture and water vapor, impinges on the deflector plate and is redirected downwardly at a high velocity toward a cavity. The airflow enters the cavity at a lower velocity, passes beneath the deflector plate and reverses direction. The decrease in airflow velocity and the redirection of the airflow allows the moisture and water vapor to drop out of the airflow.

Abstract: A central vacuum cleaner having an air flow exhaust pipe is provided with a muffler comprising an elongated muffler pipe having a reduced diameter inlet and a reduced diameter outlet and a noise reducing foam liner disposed in the muffler pipe between the inlet and outlet. The foam liner includes a smooth inner surface that is generally flush with inner surfaces of the inlet and outlet. The foam liner comprises a combustion modified polyether polyurethane foam tube inserted in the muffler pipe between the inlet and outlet.

Abstract: A vacuum cleaner includes an elongate housing which has a front end wall defining an air inlet, a rear end wall defining an inserting hole, and a circumferential wall between the front and rear end walls to define a dust collecting chamber. An air impeller is disposed in the housing posterior to the dust collecting chamber to create a vacuum behind the air inlet. A handle includes a handgrip portion and an inserting shaft portion that is disposed to slidably move along a longitudinal guiding way, and that is retractable to be hidden in the elongate housing. The inserting shaft portion has a distal section relative to the handgrip portion. A retaining member is disposed on the circumferential wall adjacent to a rear segment of the guiding way. Two spring-loaded engaging members are respectively disposed in and are radially retractable to position such that the inserting shaft portion in a retracted or pulled-out position.

Abstract: A gutter broom (8) for a pavement sweeper is defined by an annular brush disc (24) having a central opening and from which a series of equi-spaced conventional bristle blocks (11) are removably secured. A downwardly depending air foil (18) is secured to the underside of the annular brush disc (24) between each bristle block (11). A series of equi-spaced radially aligned fan blades (17) are secured to the opposite side of the annular brush disc (24) and function to define a radial flow fan. A stationary fan scroll (20) is formed over and contains the radial flow fan and includes an air flow outlet (23). When the gutter broom (8) is rotated, the air foils (18) function to draw ambient air and any entrained dust/debris into the brush structure with the resultant air streams directed to the radial fan structure, which, in turn, directs the dust/debris laden air stream to the outlet (23).

The locking element can be stopped by a stop screw. The fitting element of the second fixing member has a recess for receiving the channel walls and an opening through which the screw head can be accessed.

Abstract: A shaped clip includes a metal band having axial flanges, a first clamping wall and a second clamping wall. A barb is bent over on the radially outer end of the first clamping wall. A barb has a first hook section and a second hook section. A latching hook is connected to a radially outer edge of the second clamping wall. The latching hook is formed from an L-shaped planar strip and has a first limb and second limb. To move the shaped clip from an open position to a closed position, the clamping walls are pressed together the so that the latching hook is latched to the barb by sliding an inclined surface of the second limb against an inclined end surface of the second hook section radially inwardly, over and beyond the inclined end surface of the latching hook thereby latching the shaped clip into a retention position.

The tack head includes at least one recessed area under the tack head on the side adjacent the tack body to receive at least one end of the retaining member. When the tack body is inserted into a theft deterrent tag, the tack head rests relatively flush against the tag body, capturing the retaining member end in the recessed area.
