  • Patent number: 6106281
Abstract: A temperature-controlled chamber, such as an inerted oven for soldering, in which the buoyancy-induced motion of gas at the opening of the chamber is suppressed by adjusting the densities of gases. In one embodiment the inertant gas is chosen to be a mixture of inert gases such that the density of warm gas inside the oven approximately equals the density of the external atmosphere. In another embodiment, a buffer region of density-matched warm air is provided between the warm inertant inside the oven and the external atmosphere. The result is reduction in the consumption of inertant.

  • Patent number: 6106287
Abstract: A filter system for coupling of dental handpiece is contemplated for use within a coupling system supplying air and water to a dental handpiece. The coupling system includes a swivel coupling including a series of axially and radially spaced annular couplings on an adapter, each of which supplies one of water, air supply, tool drive air supply or conveys exhaust air. The adapter permits use with standard handpieces. The filter consists of a small filter plate mounted under a cap at the proximal end of the coupling at the distal end of a chamber that receives water from the water source. Water from the water source is conveyed into the chamber, passes through the filter plate, and is conveyed through the coupling to the handpiece where it may be sprayed in the patient's mouth. A cap is threadably mounted on the coupling to close the chamber and the cap may be removed to either clean or replace the filter. The entire assembly may be autoclaved as a unit.

  • Patent number: 6106295
Abstract: An esthetic preformed crown for children which uses layers of a custom crown material applied as a veneer over non-precious, semiprecious and precious casting metals fabricated for the casting of custom copings and as an alternative to porcelain, vitrioids, copolyester, epoxy, and acrylics. The veneer is comprised of high density polyethylene, which is thermoformed over a screened preformed stainless steel crown to obtain the desired appearance. The crown material is specifically comprised of pigmented high-density polyethylene because of its high elastic limit great flexural strength, ability to withstand great shearing force when mechanically bonded to a preformed crown. The crown of the present invention has natural appearance of a vital tooth. • Patent number: 6106299
Abstract: The present invention relates to a new and useful learning system. A compr-based system permits a user to create and manipulate basic elements within an environment. The system then represents relationships within the environment. The system and user cooperate to provide a learning opportunity for the user. As the user makes or reviews changes of basic elements, he or she can learn how different aspects of an element affect the overall interactions. Two specific embodiments are disclosed. In a first embodiment, the system is used for exploring geometric patterns. The basic elements are tiles which are formed and manipulated through operations of geometric symmetry. The tiles can be combined into different repeating patterns. Multiple tiles can be used within a pattern. Also, new tiles can be created from portions of the pattern. Thus through simple interactions using basic operations and simple parts, complex effects emerge. In a second embodiment, the system is used for exploring a sociodynamic system.

Abstract: A coaxial jack with an internal switch mechanism and a shielded signal conductor includes a cylindrical shell having an axial opening, and an elongate signal conductor supported coaxially inside the shell, and surrounded by a shield that includes an access window positioned so that a portion of the signal conductor is accessible. A back end of an elongate resilient switch contact is fixed by a switch contact support at a back portion of the shell on one side of the shell axis. The switch contact extends inside the shell toward the front opening at a certain inclination and has a free end located on a side of the shell axis opposite the one side. The switch contact is configured and positioned to make an electrical connection with the signal conductor, via the access window in the shield, in the absence of a mating plug. An elongate actuator is supported on the inner periphery of the shell and has an engaging part that protrudes into a defined plug travel path inside the shell.
