  • Patent number: 6168363
Abstract: A device for rounding and pressing book blocks with a conveying device for the book blocks. The device includes rounding rollers, pressing jaws or similar clamping elements, which are displaceable relative to one another, which act to receive the book block and act with a predefined force upon the book block. The device automatically adjusts the clamping elements to different formats of the book block and, in the event of deviations in the book block thickness, the clamping elements are displaceable relative to one another via articulately connected levers. The levers function to clamp the book block via an operating cylinder acting upon the free ends of the levers and automatically aligning the book block. The point of rotation of the levers being displaceably mounted in a guide aligned with the center of the conveying device of the book block.

  • Patent number: 6168364
Abstract: A vacuum clean box 30 includes a box body 31 having a side aperture 32 and a small hole 33 for intake/exhaust, a side lid 34 for closing the side aperture 32 by a pressure difference between inside and outside thereof, and an additional lid 35 for similarly closing the small hole 33 for intake/exhaust. The vacuum clean box 30 is connected to a gate aperture 42 of a clean room 40 and a vacuum changer 50 evacuates a hermetically closed space outside the box body including the additional lid 35 to cancel the pressure difference between inside and outside of the additional lid 35 and then opens the small hole 33 for intake/exhaust. After the inside of the vacuum clean box 30 is turned into the atmospheric pressure through the small hole 33 for intake/exhaust, the side lid 34 is drawn into the clean room 40 to make communication between the inside space of the vacuum clean box and the inside of the clean room 40, and then objects to be transferred are transferred between the vacuum clean box and the clean room.

  • Patent number: 6168366
Abstract: Trays for temporary reception of accumulations of parallel cigarettes are being introduced into and withdrawn from open-sided containers for groups of trays. The containers are provided with partitions defining tray-receiving compartments in a predetermined distribution, and the trays are assembled into groups wherein the trays are arrayed in such a way that they can be pushed, as a unit, into an empty container whereby each tray of the array enters a discrete compartment. Analogously, a set of mobile suction-operated devices is used to simultaneously withdraw an entire group of arrayed trays from the compartments of a filled container. The introduction of groups of filled or empty trays into containers can take place at a first level, and the evacuation of groups of filled or empty trays from filled containers can take place at a different second level. The second level can receive filled trays from a tray filling unit and the first level can serve for delivery of empty trays to the tray filling unit.

  • Patent number: 6168368
Abstract: In many types of construction machines, the frame assembly comprises a rear frame that supports the engine and the majority of the drive train components and a front frame that supports the work implement and related structure. In this type of machine, the two frames are normally pinned together and the front frame is articulated with respect to the rear frame by a pair of steering cylinders to provide steering for the machine. In order to provide the required structural support for the components of the work implement and to accommodate the steering forces, the front frame is necessarily quite large. The present invention provides a front frame (12) structure that includes a pair of main side plates (62, 64) that are positioned a preselected distance (W) from one another and mount a lift arm assembly (30) therebetween to minimize the overall width of the frame assembly. The forward end portion of the front frame assembly (12) has a preselected height (H) that permits the front frame to have a low profile.

  • Patent number: 6168369
Abstract: When operating a work vehicle such as a backhoe or wheel loader, it is frequently desirable to utilize auxiliary work equipment with the vehicle such as a pallet fork and a loading bucket. In the course of such operation, it is generally necessary to move the vehicle from one site to another, which requires movement of the auxiliary work equipment as well as the vehicle. The present invention provides a convenient coupling system for securely attaching a second work implement, such as a loading bucket, to a first work implement, such as pallet forks, for transportation purposes so that the connected auxiliary work equipment can be readily transported by the work vehicle from site to site, which is especially important when moving the vehicle over uneven and rough ground or surfaces.

  • Patent number: 6168371
Abstract: A container, such as a transfer trailer, a roll-off container, or other container that can be transported, has expandable side walls. The walls are hydraulically, or otherwise, forced outward to increase the inside width dimension of the container. • Patent number: 6168377
Abstract: Brush seals are employed on steam turbine rotors without the risk of causing thermal rotor bowing and without compromising the sealing performance. In one form, a groove in the rotor has an insert in frictional contact with the brush seal. The non-uniform distribution of heat due to frictional contact between the brush seal and proud portions of the rotor is dissipated within the insert such that adjoining rotor portions are substantially uniformly heated without causing thermal bow. In a further form, a groove or grooves are provided in the rotor surface adjacent to the brush seal and maintain non-uniform heat distribution locally in the rotor without causing thermal bow of the rotor. In another form, a land projects radially outwardly of the rotor surface in contact with the brush seal. The non-uniform distribution of heat due to frictional contact between proud portions of the land and the brush seal dissipates into a uniform distribution of heat in the rotor proper to avoid thermal bowing.

  • Patent number: 6168398
Abstract: A piston pump comprising at least one working space, which is surrounded by a cylinder and which is adapted to be varied by a piston arranged in said cylinder, and at least one inlet valve as well as at least one outlet valve, said valves being lifting valves and being adapted to be controlled and driven by a control and drive means. In order to provide a piston pump which can be cleaned more easily and which includes the smallest possible number of dead spots, a first teaching according to the present invention suggests that, when closed, the inlet valve should be located nearer to the working space than when it is open. Alternatively, the underlying technical problem is solved according to a second solution of the present invention by the feature that the valve surface of the inlet and/or outlet valve(s) facing the working space merges without any steps with the inner surface of said working space at the closed position of the valve or of each valve.

  • Patent number: 6168399
Abstract: A shot piston device for molten plastic material with a force-operated piston guided in a cylinder provided with an inlet and an outlet, wherein valve arrangements ensure that the cylinder is filled during the return stroke of the piston and the cylinder content is discharged during the work stroke of the piston. The piston is fixedly connected by a drive bolt to a differential piston arranged upstream or in front of the piston. At least in its rearward extreme position, the differential piston covers and closes the outlet arranged in the corresponding differential cylinder. The circumference of the piston has at least one groove located underneath the inlet and extending from the end face of the piston facing the differential piston. The length of the groove is shorter than the length of the piston. A closing ring is arranged so as to be axially slidable on a cylindrical portion of the drive bolt arranged in front of the end face of the piston facing the differential piston.

Abstract: Disclosed is a yarn-forming filament cooling apparatus mainly including a stand-up air compartment defining a cooling air channel and a quick-cooling air-converge compartment located above the cooling air channel. Inner tubes are provided in the air-converge compartment corresponding to filament guiding ports provided on a top of the cooling air channel. Each inner tube is provided on a circumferential surface with a plurality of throttle pores, such that when filaments are directed to pass filament guiding ports and inner tubes at high speed, air flowing through the cooling air channel is radially drawn into inner tubes to cool the filaments in all directions while the filaments keep moving forward at full speed. Meanwhile, cooling air is supplied into an upper portion of the air-converge compartment in horizontally opposite directions without producing lateral resistance to the moving filaments. Whereby, high yield rate of yarns with stable quality can be achieved.
