Abstract: A waste water strainer has a horizontal flange having a center opening. A hollow barrel is secured to and extends downwardly from the flange and has a center opening concentrically located with respect to the center opening in the flange. A hollow strainer extension is threadably secured to a lower end of the barrel. A sleeve with an internal concave surface is slidably and removably mounted within the upper end of the strainer extension. A circular disk valve having an annular outer surface symmetrical with the concave surface of the sleeve is pivotally mounted on the concave surface of the sleeve. The sleeve is supported at the lower end of the hollow strainer and extends upwardly to engagement with a lower surface of the flange. The flange and the barrel have a chrome-like finished surface, and the strainer extension has a different finish surface.

Abstract: A system and method for reducing water consumption in a vacuum toilet on an aircraft. The system and method includes a weight sensing device that is mounted to an aircraft toilet and is responsive to weight applied to the bowl of the toilet. The weight sensing device detects that a toilet user is seated upon the toilet seat when it measures a weight applied to the toilet bowl. On the other hand, the weight sensing device detects that a toilet user is standing when the weight sensing device does not measure a weight applied to the toilet bowl. A flush control unit is connected to the weight sensing device and controls the amount of water utilized in the flushing of the toilet. When the toilet is flushed and the weight sensing device has detected that a toilet user has sat upon the toilet seat, the flush control unit commands that a standard amount of water be used to remove the solid waste of the toilet user.

Abstract: A bathtub and shower combination for allowing an open bath area while preventing water from escaping the bathtub area while showering. The bathtub and shower combination includes a bathing stall. The bathing stall has a first and second walls joined at a vertical edge. The first and second walls are orientated generally perpendicular to each other. A bathtub is elongate and has a pair of end walls, a pair of side walls and a bottom wall. A first of end walls is fixedly coupled to the first wall of the bathing stall. A first of the side walls is fixedly coupled to the second wall of the bathing stall. Each of the walls of the bathtub has a top edge. A faucet for delivering water to the bathtub is mounted on a top edge of the bathtub. A shower portion includes a door. The door is hingedly coupled to a free vertical edge of the first wall of the bathing stall. A generally planar post extending vertically from the top edge of the second side wall.

Abstract: An hydraulic bath seat lift has a hydraulic cylinder assembly comprising an inner cylinder fixed with the floor and an outer cylinder, which can be raised and lowered by supplying hydraulic fluid to the assembly. The outer cylinder supports a seat at the end of a horizontal arm. The inner cylinder has a pin at its upper end projecting outwardly into one of two sets of longitudinal grooves along the inner surface of the outer cylinder to prevent the outer cylinder rotating relative to the inner cylinder. The grooves open into one another at the lower end of the outer cylinder so that when the outer cylinder is raised fully, to lift the seat above the bath, the cylinder can be rotated to swing the seat over the bath and then lowered with the pin engaging the other set of grooves.

Abstract: A lightweight portable seating unit for a bathtub which unit includes a platform adapted to be supported by and clamped to the sidewalls of the bathtub and on which a seat is slideably carried and pivotably adjustable to facilitate positioning of an individual seated on the unit. In some embodiments the seat may include an adjustable backrest and head support and/or a bidet attachment.

Abstract: An epidermal scrubbing device intended for use by human beings comprising a rigid plastic base having integral suction cups for attachment to a shower wall. Insert molded into the base is a polypropylene plastic scrubbing surface characterized by a two-dimensional array of soft, smooth surfaced, plastic nubs having a height on the order of ½ of an inch. Where desired, a column of slightly higher nubs may be added for scrubbing, for example, the spinal area.

Abstract: A faucet is shaped like a rotary dial phone and is formed of a main body, a water-controlling bolt, a water valve, a control plate, and a spray head. The main body is provided with a first water outlet which is in communication with one end of the spray head, and a second water outlet which is in communication with the first water outlet via a channel. The water-controlling bolt is movably positioned in a hole of the main body such that the water-controlling bolt can be caused to obstruct the first water outlet or the channel. The water valve is secured in place in a receiving slot of the main body and is provided with a connection rod to which the control plate is rotatably connected. The spray head is removably positioned on the water-controlling bolt such that the spray head is connected at one end to a hose which is in turn connected at one end to the water controlling bolt.

Abstract: A system for anchoring an outer periphery of a beach blanket to the ground or sand is disclosed. The blanket is anchored by a plurality of stakes which are manually insertable into the ground. A tether fastens the stake to the outer periphery of the blanket so that the stakes are not separated from the blanket when not in use.

Abstract: A separable bed covering including a pair of rectangular sheets each having a short upper edge, a short lower edge, a long inner edge, and a long outer edge. The long inner edge of a first sheet has a hook and loop strip extending therealong on a bottom surface thereof. The long inner edge of a second sheet has a hook and loop strip extending therealong on a top surface thereof for mating with the hook and loop strip of the first sheet to form a single large sheet. A supplemental sheet connects the first sheet to the second sheet. The supplemental sheet has a first edge fixedly secured to the long inner edge of the first sheet. A second edge of the supplemental sheet has a hook and loop strip disposed thereon for mating with a second hook and loop strip on a central portion of the second sheet.

Abstract: A fitted crib safety sheet for positioning over a crib mattress is made with a rectangular portion sized to fit over the top of the mattress. Side skirts are positioned on each side of the rectangular portion, and are sized to extend both down from the rectangular portion adjacent the sides of the mattress and then underneath the mattress. End flaps are positioned at each end of the rectangular portion, and are sized to not only extend down sides of the mattress but also to extend beneath the mattress. Corners of the sheet are sewn to conform to the corners of the mattress. A wide elastic strip is sewn to each end flap along the lateral width of the end flap. Then a narrow elastic strip is sewn to each side skirt along the longitudinal length of the side skirt and also sewn to the wide elastic stip.

Abstract: A stretcher includes a first actuator coupled to a head section and a second actuator coupled to a thigh section. A set of buttons accessible to a patient carried by the stretcher are coupled to motors that drive the respective first and second actuators. The buttons are pressed to move the thigh section through a fill range of motion and to move the head section through a limited range of motion. A switch inaccessible to the patient is pressed to move the head section through a full range of motion. Lockout switches are provided for disabling the buttons and the switch. A first hand crank is coupled to the first actuator and is manually rotated to move the head section through the full range of motion. A second hand crank is coupled to the second actuator and is manually rotated to move the thigh section through the fill range of motion. A CPR release handle is provided for quickly lowering the head section to the lowered position without the use of the buttons, switch, or first hand crank.

Abstract: A pillow construction of complex shape is designed to alleviate the symptoms of acid reflux. The pillow comprises a central wedge shaped ramp on which the torso of the user is supported when lying on the back and a head support section. The head support section provides a substantial bulge immediately adjacent the ramp to support the user's head when lying on the back and lower areas on each side thereof to support the user's head when lying on one side. The ramp and head support section together provide a generally T-shaped outline. On each side of the ramp is a lower flat section providing a recess for receiving and supporting the user's shoulder.

Abstract: A generally square or rectangular multiple firmness pillow includes a relatively firmer fill material placed toward one diagonal corner thereof. The multiple firmness pillow may be used in pairs with the portions of firmer fill material facing one another and separated by a small distance to provide support for the face of a person sleeping or resting in the prone position, and support the face and head above the underlying surface to provide a breathing space for the face-down person. The present pillows may be filled with loose fill materials of different firmnesses, such as shredded foams, synthetic fibers and feathers, with an internal divider separating the two fill materials, or may be filled using molded resilient foam materials molded or cut as a single cohesive unit.

Abstract: A seat having various hardnesses provided with a surface material. The seat is air-permeable, has a tactile feeling of the seat surface and has a hardness capable of supporting the weight of a person who sits thereon. The seat (1) is covered with an air-permeable surface material (2) and has a foamed body having a shape generally corresponding to an external shape of the seat. The foamed body includes a first foamed body (10) as a base of the foamed body and a second foamed body (6) connected integrally with the first foamed body. The first foamed body (10) has ascending parts (12, 13) which are formed on parts of a surface thereof. In the method for manufacturing the seat, the mixture (15) is introduced and layered on the first foamed body (10) and the surface material (2) is placed thereon.

Abstract: A gel pad assembly includes a flexible gel pad and an adjustable shape retainer integral with the gel pad. A flexible first outer wall cooperates with a flexible inner wall to form a first chamber. A gel is located within the first chamber. A flexible second outer wall cooperates with the inner wall to form a second chamber coextensive with the first chamber. The integral shape retainer is located within the second chamber and is selectively adjustable between a flexible condition wherein the flexible walls are conformable to a variety of desired shapes and a rigid condition wherein the flexible walls are retained in a selected one of the desired shapes. Preferred embodiments of the shape retainer include a vacuum activated bean bag, a plurality of pressurizable chambers, a thermally deformable plastic sheet, and an array of pivot elements which are mechanically clamped together.

Abstract: A mattress includes a head section, a seat section and first and second outer leg support sections. The seat section and the first and second outer leg support sections are configured to define a central opening therebetween. The mattress further comprises a removable center leg support section configured for movement between a first use position located within the central opening to provide a portion of the mattress and a second storage position detached from the mattress and located below the mattress. A drip flap is coupled to the seat section and first and second outer leg support sections of the mattress. The drip flap is configured to extend downwardly below a bottom surface of the mattress adjacent the central opening of the mattress.

Abstract: A tool structure including two grips and a tool head. By way of an opening of a first pivot section of the grip, the first pivot sections of the grips can be separated, permitting the grips to be folded to two sides of the tool head. This reduces the room occupied by the tool and facilitates storage and carriage of the tool. The first pivot sections of the grips are spaced from the second pivot sections of the tool head by a certain distance to form a double-lever structure and prolong the length of the force application arm so as to save strength.

Abstract: A tube cutting device for cutting tubes, holding a reamer, and containing measuring devices. The tube cutting device includes a base portion, having a facing wall, a back wall, a first side wall, a second side wall, a bottom wall and a top wall. A first bore in the base portion extends through the top and bottom walls of the base portion. A bar for mounting in the first bore has a first end and a second end. The bar has a first and second of opposing wall. The bar is slidably mounted in the first bore such that the second opposing wall faces the facing wall. A first slot in the bar extends into the second end of the bar. A circular knife for cutting a tube is rotatably mounted in the first slot of the bar. An arm portion is fixedly coupled to the first wall of the base portion. The arm portion has a generally J-shaped configuration. A plurality of rollers adapted for rolling contact with an exterior surface of the tube are rotatably mounted in an interior surface of the arm portion.

Abstract: A knife with multiple roller wheels comprising an elongate hollow housing adapted to be held and operated by one hand. The housing has a first end with a slot and an opposite second end. A knife blade is provided. A structure is for retractably extending the knife blade from the slot in the first end of the housing to trim a window screen. Two roller wheels are also provided. A facility is for rotatably supporting in spaced apart relationships the two roller wheels. An assembly pivotally connects the supporting facility to one side of the housing adjacent to the second end. A stop member supports the supporting facility in a stationary position, so that one of the roller wheels will extend beyond the second end of the housing to install the window screen in a window screen frame.

Abstract: A multi-function pool cue tool is shown. The tool has a three sided open channel design. One side of the tool has an abrasive material attached for flattening tips. The center piece has two different sized indentations for contouring different sized tips on cues. The center piece also has a contour gauge associated with each of the indentations for checking the roundness of the tips after dressing of the tip in the indentations. The second side of the tool has a knurled surface for knurling the surface of the flat tip. A pair of wheels interconnect the first and second sides of the tool and have a diameter that varies to a minimum midway between the sides, the wheels for knurling the rounded tips on cues.

Abstract: Bumpers and assemblies for swimming pool cleaners are disclosed. Such assemblies may include contoured frames to which flexible fins are attached to facilitate deflection of cleaners when obstacles are encountered. Side wings connecting the frame to the body of a cleaner may additionally be employed as part of the assemblies, as may a weight moveable about two axes. In use, the side wings both promote cleaner deflection and reduce body wear that otherwise would occur. The non-stationary weight permits continuous rebalancing of the cleaner depending on its location and orientation within a pool. An optional lower bumper facilitates operation of the cleaner by reducing the likelihood of its becoming trapped against objects such as steps located within swimming pools.

Abstract: A golf towel for cleaning a golfer's hands, golf ball, and equipment for attachment to the clothing of the golfer, having a first dry cleaning surface; a second moisturized cleaning element in the form of a moisture retaining region located inwardly of the dry cleaning surface on the towel. The towel may include a third abrasive cleaning surface for removal of hard to clean stains and dirt, and/or a fastener for attaching the towel to the clothing of a golfer.

Abstract: A brush for wiping out dust is formed of a hollow main body and a slide seat having a seat body and bristles attached to the front end of the seat body. The main body is provided in the wall thereof with a through slot extending the longitudinal direction of the main body. The through slot is provided at the front end thereof with a receiving slot. The seat body is provided at the rear end thereof with a protrusion which is retained in the receiving slot of the through slot of the main body at the time when the slide seat is detachably fastened with the main body. The slide seat is entirely drawn into the hollow main body when the protrusion of the seat body of the slide seat is moved along the through slot to arrive at the rear end of the through slot.

The wiper blade can be connected by coupling means to counter-coupling means on the wiper arm side of a driven wiper arm (18) provided on the motor vehicle. Its coupling means are placed in the center section of a strip-like, elongated, spring-elastic support element (12) of the wiper blade, on the side of which facing the window to be wiped an elongated, rubber-elastic wiping strip (14), which can be placed against the window, is arranged essentially parallel with the longitudinal axis, and the wiper blade, which can be displaced transversely in respect to its longitudinal direction on the window, is pivotable in respect to the wiper arm around an axis (40) extending in the displacement direction.

Abstract: A vacuum cleaner is provided that is adapted to detect and display and/or avoid obstacles. In such vacuum cleaners the driving wheels and/or castor wheels that determine the direction of travel may be actively controlled to achieve, at the point in time of obstacle touch or obstacle sensing, a resultant velocity away from obstacles in the path of the cleaning apparatus.

Abstract: A pump has a housing defining a pump chamber and having a shaft opening. An impeller shaft extends through the shaft opening and is sized to define a gap between the impeller shaft and the shaft opening. An impeller is attached to the shaft inside the pump chamber. The impeller includes a first set of impeller blades for transporting fluid through the pump chamber and a second set of impeller blades for creating a pressure force which pushes fluid away from the shaft opening. The pump with sealless shaft prevents fluid from leaking through the gap, and therefore is particularly suited for use in a tank-type vacuum cleaner capable of collecting both dry material and fluid. The gap is used in such an application to prime the pump, thereby discharging fluid collected in the tank.

Abstract: A vacuum cleaner includes a housing having a nozzle assembly and a handle. An agitator shield is held in the nozzle assembly. An agitator is mounted for rotation relative to the nozzle assembly in an agitator chamber. A fan and motor assembly mounted to the housing drive the agitator and provide suction.

Abstract: A blower to which power is connected from an electric motor is swingably mounted on a wheeled support. A handle is attached to the wheeled support so as to be vertically adjusted. It is also possible to pivotally support the blower on the moving means in a lower position, construct a vertical swing linking mechanism in a position higher than the above position, attach a lever for adjusting the position in the vertical direction of the discharge pipe, and connect a cable to the vertical swing linking mechanism. A lever for swinging the discharge pipe may be attached to the handle and a cable can be directly interposed between the lever and the discharge pipe.

Abstract: A hinge used to mount a cabinet door to a frame is disclosed. The hinge is a fully concealed cabinet hinge having a mounting cup. The mounting cup is configured to be received in a bore in a cabinet door. The mounting cup is pivotally attached to a frame member. The frame member is mounted to the cabinet frame. The door member is a flexible member having a receiving area for a pivot. The door member may be flexed to open the receiving area to receive and capture a pivot so that the hinge may be assembled by hand.

Abstract: A cork grip includes a main part (21) that is formed of cork pieces each having a predetermined cylindrical shape that are punched out of a cork sheet formed of cork material stripped from a cork tree and pressed into the shape of a board. The cork sheet is punched into the cylindrical shapes in such a manner that pithy tissues (6a) of the cork intersect with the axial direction of the main part (21). The pithy tissues (6a) of the main part 21 are filled with a filling agent that includes a mixture of binder and cork powder.

Abstract: A carding machine includes a main carding cylinder, a travelling flats assembly having a plurality of flat bars provided with a clothing cooperating with the clothing of the main carding cylinder; an endless flat bar driving element trained about end sprockets and circulating the flat bars in an endless path; a flat cleaning device supported at a location above the flat bar driving element and including a rotatably supported flat brush roller. A gearing is provided which has an input shaft connected to a power drive, a first output shaft connected to one of the end sprockets for circulating the flat bar driving element and a second output shaft connected to the flat brush roller for rotating the same. The first and second output shafts have a constant distance from one another.

Abstract: A device for opening slivers (4) for feeding an OE spinning device (3), comprising a sliver feed device defining a sliver clamping position (7), a rotating opening roller (8) having a circumference with spirally extending combing elements (9, 24) for engaging at the clamping position (7) into a sliver being fed by the sliver feed device. In order to improve the opening of the sliver, a support roller (13, 28, 29) also having spirally extending combing elements (14, 24, 25, 26) is arranged in the direction of fiber feeding after the clamping position (7) with its combing elements (14, 24, 25, 26) extending into the intermediate spaces between the spirally extending combing elements (9, 24) of the opening roller (8) and rotates counter to the opening roller (8) for combing sliver therewith in a common effective range (11).

Abstract: A securing means for enclosing objects of varying size, shape, and materials that allows attachment of an electronic surveillance tag thereto. The securing means having an elongated strap portion extending from a buckle like attachment portion, whereby an end of the elongated portion is inserted into the attachment portion and thereby forms a closed loop. The object to be enclosed is maintained within the loop and the size of the loop can be adjusted by changing the point of fastening of the elongated portion to the attachment portion. To prevent the elongated portion from disconnecting, the elongated portion has a plurality of hitching means disposed thereon and they engage a latching means located on the attachment portion. A plurality of apertures are located medially on the elongated portion axially align with a hole defined by the attachment portion.

Abstract: A binding clip having actuator rods capable of rotation to any angle so as to not impair reading and writing, and which is produced by a simpler fabrication process. A triangularly folded pincer section has an actuator rod on each of the two sides and an insertion hole punched in each of the two sides. An even number of oppositely facing limiter notches are formed along the inner circumference of the insertion holes and a rounded guide element is disposed in between each of the limiter notches, providing for the rotation to any angular degree of the actuator rods along the rounded guide elements. The actuator rods consist of U-shaped rod structures with the two ends bent to an appropriate angular degree and having catch hooks extending from the bent sections. By pressing the two sides of the actuator rods inwardly, the catch hooks can engage opposing pairs of limiter notches such that the actuator rods remain fullly pivotable while positioned in the limiter notches.

Abstract: A wrapping structure for an end of a rope, includes an embracing sheath and an end cap. The embracing sheath serves to embrace the end section of the rope. One end of the sheath distal from the end cap is embossed to form a binding section fitted in a receptacle of the end cap. A center of the end face of the sheath is formed with an inward extending thread hole. The end cap is formed with a through hole. A bolt is passed through one end of a fixing section of the end cap and a through hole thereof to be screwed and fixed in the thread hole of the sheath received in the receptacle. The embracing sheath wraps and binds the end section of the rope and the bolt locks the embracing sheath with the end cap. In addition, the bolt stretches the end section of the rope outward so as to more firmly engage the rope with the embracing sheath. Therefore, when a user holds the rope, the end cap is able to effectively stop the hand of the user from axially slipping from the rope.

Abstract: A plastic magnetic button that is waterproof and washable incluses a button body, a magnet and a steel plate disposed inside the cavity of said button body. The method of manufacturing the magnetic button comprises step A: manufacturing a button body with non-magnetic material, step B: putting the magnet and steel plate into the cavity of said button body, and step C: injecting a resinoid into the cavity and sealing the magnet and steel plate completely inside the cavity and combining integrally after hardening. The magnetic button can be used on clothes, can automatically align and match each other and is best suited for the case where buttons are not easy to be unbuttoned with the hands, such as, when both hands are in gloves.

Abstract: A ligating clip includes a substantially planar head portion and at least two legs each extending away from the head portion. The head portion is resilient and spring biased toward a closed position, and the legs can be positioned in a plane defining an angle with the planar head portion of greater than about 90° and less than about 180°, which provides for better visibility of clips during application of the clip.

Abstract: Quick release buckles are provided that include, for example: (a) a first buckle component having an engagement end and a module receiving portion opposite the engagement end; and (b) a second buckle component having an engagement end constructed for releasable engagement with the engagement end of the first buckle component, and a module receiving portion opposite the engagement end; each of the module receiving portions being constructed for fixed engagement with any one of a plurality of different modular components. Methods of assembling buckling systems and buckle assembly systems are also provided.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a buckle clip for receiving and for removably retaining a fastener such as a button having a shank for a garment such as the type used on suspenders, overall straps, jeans and other garments and structures in need of support. In a preferred embodiment, the buckle clip is fabricated from a continuously formed resilient wire to define a loop. The loop has a bight portion for suspension from a strap, a pair of arms for receiving a fastener such as a button having a shank and an open portion for receiving and for removably retaining the button. The bight portion has a pair of feet portions with a first end and with a second end which are resiliently separable and normally spring biased toward each other to engage the shank of the button. The pair of feet portions have a groove and a first pair and a second pair of contact surfaces. The loop provides resilient movement of the open portion for engaging and for disengaging the button.

Abstract: This invention is directed to a pusher tool for pushing a member out of passageway. In particular, the pusher tool is for pushing a grease cup in the passageway of a yoke in a universal joint. Wherein the grease cup for holding grease and bearings becomes frozen in the passageway in the yoke, it may be very difficult to remove the grease cup from the passageway. A housing can be attached to the yoke. In the housing, there is a plunger which can be moved in the passageway in the yoke. Grease is applied to the interior of the housing and the back of the plunger for moving the plunger against the grease cup. Sufficient pressure can be exerted on the grease to force the grease cup out of the passageway in the yoke.

Abstract: A puller for extracting a member such as a bearing or bushing from a blind hole comprising an expandable split sleeve, a chuck for holding the expandable split sleeve, and a rod, the expandable split sleeve having a tubularly shaped body with an interior cavity, resilient biasing member holding the split sleeve in a closed position, and a flange proximate one end and which flange extends radially outwardly from the body, the flange terminating in a cutting edge. The rod member is insertable into the cavity and the rod and the cavity are sized that upon insertion, the rod will contact an interior wall and cause the split sleeve to expand radially outwardly. In situations wherein the puller does not have space behind the member, the cutting edge is designed to cut into and grip the member to be removed.

Abstract: A wall panel including a rectangular frame, a pair of wall members and a thin decorative sheet covering the wall members. The frame includes two spaced apart, generally parallel vertical frame members and spaced apart, generally parallel horizontal lower and upper frame members. The horizontal frame members are connected to the vertical frame members at opposite ends thereof to form the rectangular frame. Each of the frame members includes a core member and a pair of sidewall members attached to opposite sides of the core member. The wall members are attached to the sidewalls on opposing sides of the frame members. A decorative sheet covers the outer surface of each wall member. A method for manufacturing the frame members includes providing a fixture with spaced apart first, second and third surfaces. A hanger bracket is mounted to the vertical frame core member and is positioned in the fixture such that the hanger bracket engages the first surface.

Abstract: A kit and method for creating an article display includes a frame having two openings. The completed display includes a clay tablet having an impression formed therein located within one of the frame openings and a picture located in the other frame opening. The invention is suitable for making impressions of baby's hands or feet and displaying a picture of the baby along with the tablet carrying the impressions.

Abstract: When a seal (10) with a lip (10A) is slid onto a shaft (14), the seal (10) is first slid from a D-cut portion (14C) to the end of a shaft body (14B) contiguous to the D-cut portion (14C), and then is slid at a first speed (at 40 mm/s) from this end to a position in which the seal (10) does not come into contact with a large-diameter portion (14A) of the shaft (14). Since there is a strong possibility that the lip (10A) of the seal (10) will have been completely curled at this time. the seal (10) is pulled out at a second speed (at 10 mm/s) on the shaft body (14B) from this position toward the D-cut portion (14C), and the seal (10) is again slid inward at a third speed (at 70 mmls) from this position to an appropriate position. Thus, the seal (10) is slid without the lip (10A) being curled. The sliding operations at the second and third speeds may be performed a plurality of times.

Abstract: A method for fabricating a quantitative organic vapor-particle sampler for efficient sampling, detection and quantitation of semi-volatile organic gases, vapors and particulate components. The sampler comprises a diffusion chamber and at least one annular denuder of which surface is coated with a macroreticular resin agglomerates which selectively absorbs organic gases, vapors or particulate matter present in tested samples.

Abstract: A sheet of material formed about a flower pot to provide a decorative cover wherein a portion of the sheet of material near an outer peripheral surface thereof extends above an upper end of the flower pot and such portion is crimped to assist in holding the sheet of material formed about the flower pot. The crimping is accomplished by forming overlapping folds in the crimp portion of the sheet of material or by connecting the crimp portion to a portion of the flower pot by way of a bonding material or by way of a drawstring or ribbon or by way of reinforcing members in the sheet of material or by way of a shrinkable material formed in the sheet of material for example.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved die member, panel and fastener assembly and method for installing a fastener into a panel. The die member has a pair of opposed clinching lips protruding from an end face. The opposed clinching lips have a contact face that narrows as it approaches the opposed ends of the contact face and sidewalls that are angled with respect to vertical. The lips, due to the dual angles, substantially and simultaneously drive panel metal into fastener grooves both longitudinally and laterally. The fastener and panel assembly have panel metal deformed into the fastener grooves resulting in generally wedge-shaped portions of panel metal in the opposed ends of the fastener grooves.

Abstract: Two outer steel pipes (16 and 16A) are each lined by corrosion resistant lining pipes (18 and 18A) of compressible plastics material which stop short of the ends (20, 20A) of the outer pipes to leave an annular recess or counterbore (24 and 24A) at each of those ends. A tubular bridging-member (2) of ductile, plastically deformable, corrosion resistant material, for example brass or stainless steel has two tubular end portions (4 and 6) extending in opposite directions from an intermediate tubular portion (8) having an outer diameter greater than that of the end portions (4 and 6) and an inner diameter greater than that of the said end portions. The end portions (4 and 6) are encircled by ribs (12). Initially the outer diameter of the end portions (4, 6) is less than that of the inner diameter of the lining pipes (18, 18A). Thus each lined pipe (16, 16A) can be fitted over the respective end portions (4 and 6) with the intermediate portion (8) occupying the combined counterbore (24, 24A).
