  • Patent number: 6260870
Abstract: An improved structure telescopic-type front fork cushion for bicycles comprised of lower bushings providing for coordinated excursive contact with the stanchion tubes and sliders that are installed at the lower ends of the sliders at the same position as the dropouts and in which a cushioning elastic body is installed inside a cross member-mounted steerer tube at the upper ends of the two stanchion tubes and that is situated between the center section of a connective block at the upper ends of the two sliders. As such, when the front wheel axle of a bicycle is installed into the dropouts, the lower bushings by means of the dropouts function as the direct fulcrum points of the raked arrangement of the stanchion tubes and the sliders such that the absence of stiction angles during their kinetic ascending and descending operation thereby providing the smoothness and responsiveness objectives claimed.

  • Patent number: 6260871
Abstract: A wheel suspension system for reducing or eliminating the shock associated with travelling over bumps and dents on a roadway on a wide variety of low speed wheeled transportation equipment. The system includes substantially vertically positioned swing arms connected between the wheel axle and frame of the wheeled transportation equipment. The swing arms cause a bump or a dent on the ground to feel as if travelling over smooth ramps and thereby eliminating the shock normally felt when travelling over the bumps or dents. The system does not utilize shock absorbing springs and is structurally simpler and more stable. Furthermore, the system keeps the gravity center of the frame of the wheeled transportation equipment at a similar level to that with no suspension system and also increases the wheel's ability to overcome large obstacles.

  • Patent number: 6260880
Abstract: A vehicle travel safety device carries out automatic braking in order to prevent a subject vehicle from coming into contact with an object, and proximate expansion of an air bag is reliably prevented. When there is a possibility of a subject vehicle coming into contact with an object, automatic braking is carried out in order to prevent the contact. If a seat belt wear state sensor detects that an occupant is not wearing a seat belt and an air bag expansion possibility estimating means estimates that there is a possibility of an air bag expanding, by means of an automatic braking means, the deceleration rate of the automatic braking is reduced so that the occupant is prevented from moving forwards due to the inertia accompanying the braking and causing proximate expansion. When the speed of the subject vehicle at the time when automatic braking is started is high, the relative speed between the subject vehicle and the object at the time when automatic braking is started is high.

  • Patent number: 6260902
Abstract: A segmented gripper is provided, having two arms (2;3) which are operated for closing and opening movement in an operational plane. The arms are flexible in the way of a finger; i.e. the geometry is variable to adapt to the external shape of the article to be gripped. This is accomplished by providing a structure for the arms, wherein an outer row of pivotally connected links (6) is interconnected with an inner row of pivotally connected links (7), the interconnecting elements (8) being pivotally attached to the link connecting points of each row of links. The lengths of the interconnecting elements are successively decreasing towards the free end of each arm, so that the arm displays a claw-like configuration. The arms are pivotally attached on a support, so that when an actuating force is applied tangentially to the outer row of links, the arms are operated for a closing motion.

  • Patent number: 6260914
Abstract: A dash reinforcement for a mobile vehicle with a passenger cab such as a sport utility vehicle, or medium or heavy-duty truck. The dash reinforcement may be a stamped sheet metal panel that strengthens the dash structure of the cab and provides for mounting of vehicle components. The dash reinforcement may be symmetrical about the centerline of the vehicle and this symmetry allows the panel to accommodate both left-hand drive and right-hand drive vehicle configurations. The dash reinforcement also includes ‘Y’ shaped passages for a driver control module and for accessory equipment such as heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) modules. The unique shape of these passages or openings adds strength to the overall dash structure and hence the cab. The dash reinforcement may be engaged to a dash panel to form a dash assembly.

  • Patent number: 6260917
Abstract: Apparatus for a swiveling a tray mounted in the back of an aircraft seat. The apparatus has a tube oriented transverse to the seat back around which the tray swivels. A tray is pivotably attached to the tube. A pair of bushes protrude outward from each end os the tube. Each bush ends in a generally mushroom shaped protrusion which is set off by an adjacent undercut defining a stressing and guiding zone. An elastic spring contained within a housing is mounted on the aircraft. The mounted spring has upward directed Y-shaped openings sized to receive and engage the protrusion at the backlash elimination zone and engage the protrusions and the tube. This spring grips and hold the protrusions which secures the tube. This arrangement permits the tube and its attached tray to be quickly and easily attached or removed from the seat. A transmission element in the form of an extending arm is also pivotably attached to the tube.
