Abstract: A thrust reverser for a turbojet engine is provided with at least one displaceable assembly including a displaceable cowling portion and a flap. The displaceable cowling portion and the flap each subtend stationary upstream and downstream cowling portions such that the displaceable cowling portion forms a portion of the external engine cowling covering a reverse thrust opening and the flap forms a portion of the outer boundary of the gas flow in a forward thrust position. In a reverse thrust position, the reverse thrust opening is uncovered, and the displaceable cowling portion and the flap are displaced downstream such that the displaceable cowling portion extends downstream, parallel to the longitudinal engine axis and above, without interference, the downstream cowling portion.

Abstract: A control system for an internal combustion engine having an exhaust system provided with a catalyst is provided. The control system comprises a catalyst temperature rise accelerating control in which the intake air amount is increased and the ignition timing is retarded according to the engine rotational speed. A transient control from the catalyst temperature rise accelerating control to the normal control, is started when the speed of a vehicle driven by the engine reaches a predetermined vehicle speed or higher during the catalyst temperature rise accelerating control. During the transient control, the intake air amount is gradually reduced and the ignition timing is set according to the vehicle speed.

Abstract: A method for controlling reductant added to an exhaust of an engine having a lean NOx catalyst and a particulate filter adjusts a reductant amount during particulate filter regeneration. The method adjusts the reductant amount to account for reducing agents released from the particulate filter that are experienced by the lean NOx catalyst. In addition, management of particulate filter regeneration is based on both an estimated amount of stored particles and conditions of the lean NOx catalyst. In this way, operation of both the particulate filter and the lean NOx catalyst can be optimized. Also, termination of particulate filter regeneration is determined based on operating conditions.

Abstract: An adjustable jewelry assembly comprises a releasable clamping device and an elongate flexible member, such as a necklace or bracelet chain, that is releasably secured to the clamping device. The elongate flexible member forms a loop portion at one side of the clamping device and a pair of legs at an opposite side of the clamping device. The clamping device includes a cap and an insert slidably mounted in the cap. The legs extend through openings in the cap and insert. A biasing member is located between the cap and insert for biasing the insert away from the cap. When the clamping device is at rest, the openings are misaligned and a shear force is applied to the legs, thereby securing the legs against slidable movement with respect to the clamping device. Pressing the cap and insert toward each other against the biasing force causes the openings to align and release the shear force so that the legs can slide with respect to the clamping device.

The member is bent along a transverse bend line, and the flanges are bent inwardly on themselves. The bending of the member along the transverse bend line is done with a great force, and because portions of the side flanges are supported on their distal and proximal side, the material of the side flanges in the compression area plasticizes and flows into the closed perimeter opening, causing them to deform. Because the closed perimeter opening or openings are present, the side flanges are compressed in a more controlled manner, reducing cracking, wrinkling and thinning during the bending of the member along the transverse bend line.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for measuring properties of a liquid composition includes a mechanical resonator, such as a thickness shear mode resonator or a tuning fork resonator, connected to a measurement circuit. The measurement circuit provides a variable frequency input signal to the tuning fork, causing the mechanical resonator to oscillate. To test the properties of a liquid composition, the mechanical resonator is placed inside a sample well containing a small amount of the liquid. The input signal is then sent to the mechanical resonator and swept over a selected frequency range, preferably less than 1 MHz to prevent the liquid being tested from exhibiting gel-like characteristics and causing false readings. The mechanical resonator's response over the frequency range depends on various characteristics of the liquid being tested, such as the temperature, viscosity, and other physical properties.

The rotary die cutter includes a male die cylinder that has a series of die cavities formed along its outer circumference. Each of the die cavities includes a surrounding cutting edge that defines the shape of the blank to be cut. The male die cylinder is pressed into engagement with either an anvil cylinder or a female die cylinder to form either crush-cutting or shear-cutting nips therebetween. The continuous web is fed into the cutting nip such that the cutting edges of the die cavities contact the web to cut the blanks from the web. A plurality of vacuum ports positioned in the die cavities along the outer circumference of the male die cylinder are connected to a source of vacuum contained in the male die cylinder to remove the die-cut blanks from the web. The die-cut blanks are vacuum-transferred to a stacking unit, while the scrap web is continuously discarded by air-conveying removal.

Abstract: A stringed musical instrument having an instrument body and an elongated neck along which the strings are stretched. A spring-loaded clamping device is provided by securing the neck to the body while permitting limited pivotal movement of the neck relative to the body. The clamping device includes a spring arranged to provide a biasing force for urging the neck toward a neck seating position on the body, and an adjustment member is moveably mounted on either the neck or the body so as to move in a direction opposing the biasing force of the spring in order to cause the neck to pivot away from the neck seating position, to thereby adjust the angular position of the neck relative to the body to adjust the action of the instrument. An intonation adjustment mechanism is also provided for adjusting the intonation of the instrument, and which advantageously provides for rigidity enhancement by urging the neck against a side of the neck recess to provide a firm, rigid and stable mounting of the neck to the body.

Abstract: MIDI data words are supplied to a data transmitter of a music data transmitting system at irregular intervals; when the data transmitter receives each of the MIDI data words, the data transmitter checks the status byte to see whether or not the status byte contains a data nibble identical with a synchronous data nibble, replaces the data nibble with another data nibble with positive answer for producing a quasi MIDI data word, supplements synchronous data nibble or nibbles between the quasi MIDI data words, and modulates a data stream containing the quasi MIDI data words and the synchronous data nibbles for synchronously transmitting the modulated signal to a data receiver of the music data transmitting system at high transfer efficiency; when the modulated signal reaches the data receiver, the data receiver demodulates the received signal, eliminates the synchronous data nibbles from the data stream, and converts the quasi MIDI data words to the MIDI data words.

Abstract: The drum has a balancer disposed at both ends of a drum body around which a printing plate is wound, and with a rotating shaft rotatably supported by a supporting plate via an elastic support member of a shaft receiving member. When the rotating drum is rotated in a state in which the rotating drum is out of balance, the elastic support member is elastically deformed so that the rotating shaft rotates integrally with the rotating drum. Balance of the drum is restored by eccentric revolution of the balancers, whereby the rotating drum is rotated around a center of the rotating shaft. A recording head is mounted at a bracket that moves integrally with the rotating drum. Thus, the recording head continually opposes a fixed position at the rotating drum, and an appropriate image can be formed on a printing plate.

Transition members of the railcar can be casted, preferably with interlocking ledges on the ends of the transition members. The center section can be fabricated from, preferably precambered, longitudinal stringers which can then be connected between the casted transition members via the interlocking ledges. Standard steel warehouse plates can be attached to the fabricated framework of longitudinal stringers to form the surface of the center section. The transition members can be cast with integral provision to accept a center plate member. The fabricated framework of stringers can include reinforcement members for added strength.
