  • Patent number: 6295747
Abstract: The present device provides a baggage tag attachable to the handle of a piece of baggage for displaying indicia of the identification and destination of a passenger owning the baggage. The tag has a first or base ply and a second tear resistant ply or liner. The underside faces of the base ply and tear resistant liner are arraigned for engagement with one another. An adhesive is disposed between the base ply and the liner for releasably sealing them together. It is preferred that a release coating be applied to the underside face of the liner. This allows the removal of the liner from the adhesive layer, allowing the adhesive to remain with the base ply. The base ply and liner each have cuts proximate one end thereof defining a claim stub. Upon removal of the claim stub, a length of the underside face of the base ply adjacent the base ply cut is exposed with the adhesive permitting the to tag ends to be secured around a bag handle.

  • Patent number: 6295748
Abstract: In an apparatus for turning over individual sheets assembled to form a stack, preferably for leafing through program tiles of a jukebox, the sheets are arranged to pivot about mutually parallel pivot pins and are provided with projections rising above the pivot pins on which a support engages so that a sheet is turned over to the opposite side. A space-saving design, in which unintentional turning-over of the pages is effectively prevented, is provided in that at least one fixing device and stop device are provided, the fixing device being in contact with the open sheets so that in the turning-over movement of an open sheet it is moved against a force acting on the fixing apparatus, and the stop device being arranged so that the sheets adjoining the open sheets are in contact with the stop device so that their pivoting in the turning-over direction is prevented at least until the projections of the adjacent sheets are in a position of engagement with the support.

  • Patent number: 6295781
Abstract: A one-piece metal connector that securely ties together the structural members of the roof and wall on a wood frame house. The connector has a vertical web on the top that is attached to a rafter and a vertical web on the bottom that is connected to a wall stud. The connector correctly places each structural member for maximum structural integrity, forming a direct load path. The middle part of the connector has a vertical plate and horizontal tabs that form a box-section around the top plate. Horizontal and vertical tabs form open boxes that hold sheathing tight to the wall. Gussets brace the rafter and stud against racking. The connector has a large surface area for maximum strength, and precise nail holes to avoid splitting the structural member. The connector grasps the structural members to avoid detachment of any structural members during hurricanes and seismic events. The connector's webs and bends help to avoid twisting, lateral forces, thrusting, and uplift.

  • Patent number: 6295785
Abstract: A geodesic dome is created by the steps of: (a) generating a mathematical model of a geodesic dome, (b) fabricating components with which to form a geodesic dome according to the model; and (c) fastening the components to each other according to the model. In the model, M base triangles are generated in a closed three-dimensional shape. M is at, least four, with eight being preferred and the preferred closed three-dimensional shape being a regular octahedron. The closed three-dimensional shape has a center point from which each vertex of each of the base triangles is equidistant, this distance being a geodesic radius. Each leg of each base triangle is then subdivided into N segments of equal length, N being at least two, with eight being preferred, thus defining N+1 segment endpoints or intersections along each leg. A line is then generated between each intersection and two corresponding intersections, thus defining N2 smaller triangles per base triangle.

Abstract: A building panel (10) including a core body (11) containing a compressible solid, and cladding layer (12), on at least one outer surface of the core body, and wherein the building panel is foldable. Preferably, the core is a polymer foam, and the cladding layer is substantially more rigid than the core body for imparting strength thereto. The fold (26) may be provided by cutting the cladding layer from what will become the inside surface of a fold, and removing sufficient material from the core body to permit the panel to be folded. The cladding layer preferably includes a textile of a flexible fiberglass, nylon or polyester in the form of a woven or non-woven mesh (16) with a resin component (17) in the form of a settable liquid applied to, and set into the interstices of the textile with the resin component substantially encapsulating the textile component.

  • Patent number: 6295787
Abstract: An outer structure for a refrigerated food storage apparatus includes an outer shell forming a visible exterior of the apparatus; and an inner liner made of molded plastic and coupled to the outer shell, to form an inter-panel space to be filled with a body of foam insulation. The inner liner includes bosses of a predetermined length, integrally formed with the inner liner at regular intervals and extending toward the outer shell, to support and maintain a constant spacing between the outer shell and inner liner; a foam-injection inlet for injecting foam; and vents for exhausting air and gases generated during a foam injection process. A reactive foam completely fills the inter-panel space, to form a consistent body of insulation. The force of the reactive foam filling the inter-panel space closes a hinged first flap for covering the foam-injection inlet and a plurality of hinged second flaps for covering the vents.

  • Patent number: 6295788
Abstract: An insert for a glazing unit includes a body having a width and a height. The insert is configured to fit within the spacer of the glazing unit. A typical glazing unit has at least two outer glazing sheets separated by a substantially rigid, U-shaped spacer disposed about the perimeter of the sheets to create an interior cavity between the outer sheets and the spacer. The width and height of the body of the insert are adapted to allow the insert to fit within the U-shaped spacer. The spacer has a longitudinal length dimension substantially equal to the perimeter of the glazing sheets. The body of the insert also has a longitudinal length dimension substantially equal to the length of the spacer. The body of the insert is fabricated from a non-flowable material having substantially stable dimensions. In one embodiment of the invention, the insert includes an inwardly facing, intermediate glazing sheet-receiving channel that is adapted to slidably receive and position an intermediate glazing sheet.

  • Patent number: 6295797
Abstract: An agricultural harvesting machine, such as a baler, is provided with a pick-up assembly and a feeder mechanism for picking up crop material from a field and feeding it to the inlet of a baling chamber. A crop retainer mechanism, such as a windguard, are mounted above the feeder mechanism for engaging the upper portion of said crop material whilst it is being fed to said inlet. The retainer mechanism is movable between a lower position assumed when no crop material is present on said crop intake apparatus and an upper position when a considerable amount of crop material is present on said crop intake apparatus. The harvesting machine is also provided with a dampening mechanism for damping the motion of said crop retainer mechanism. Advantageously, the motion is damped by a pair of gas springs mounted to the transverse rod of the windguard. This arrangement precludes sudden movements of the windguard and ensures a regular flow of the picked up material to the baling chamber.
