Patent number: 6312099Abstract: A binary pagewidth printhead without substantial grayscale capability includes an array of adjacent printhead segments that are distributed across the pagewidth printhead so that adjacent segments overlap at their ends by a predetermined distance. A plurality of printing pixels extending along each segment have physical differences that effect substantially non-uniform transfer functions that decrease toward the ends of segments over the overlap distance. The physical characteristics of the printing pixels are such the their transfer functions vary linearly over the overlap distance. The physical characteristics of the printing pixels may be such the their transfer functions increase monotonically from a small value at the ends of the printhead segments to a larger value away from the ends of the printhead segments. The physical characteristics of the printing pixels in a central portion of each segment are preferably uniform such the their transfer functions are constant over the central portions.Type: GrantFiled: January 21, 1997Date of Patent: November 6, 2001Assignee: Eastman Kodak CompanyInventors: Gilbert A. Patent number: 6312104Abstract: A method and apparatus which laterally focuses aqueous ink drops onto a substrate, using electric fields. The drops are not charged, and focusing results from the forces on the uncharged dielectric drop that occur in a nonuniform electric field. It is shown that initial lateral velocity misdirection of the drops is corrected using electric fields. Lateral velocities which would produce drop displacements of ˜50 &mgr;m from their intended positions, at a height of 1 mm above the ink surface, may be corrected to produce displacements of less than 2.5 &mgr;m.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 1998Date of Patent: November 6, 2001Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Richard G. The distance between tops of the plants and the lights can be adjusted to correlate with plant growth by a motorized assembly for raising and lowering a bar suspended from an upper support and upon which are mounted growth lights. Horizontal sway of the bar upon which the growth lights are mounted is minimized by a guiding structure for one end of the bar. When florescent growth lights are used, bulk and heat produced by their ballasts are eliminated by locating all ballasts remotely from the apparatus.Type: GrantFiled: November 23, 1999Date of Patent: November 6, 2001Assignee: Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc.Inventors: Britt W. Patent number: 6312140Abstract: A track and a track assembly is surface mounted to a ceiling and extends longitudinally in front of a number of adjacent apartment or condominium storage compartments. The track assembly includes a trolley which is travelable along the track and which includes cooperating friction brakes. The friction brakes allow the trolley to be fixed in any location along the track. Suspended from the trolley is an extendable and retractable utility light fixture. Also attached to the trolley is a recoiled electrical connection and a pull cord for manually moving the trolley and suspended utility light fixture along the length of the track.Type: GrantFiled: December 16, 1999Date of Patent: November 6, 2001Inventor: John W. Patent number: 6312141Abstract: The lamp assembly includes an emitting framework, a supporting ball, radiating levers and electronic-controller. The emitting framework is connected to the radiating levers via the supporting ball; the radiating levers to which explosion lamps and flashing lamps attach are bent into such a shape as to produce the effect of fireworks exploding; the electronic-controller is connected with firing lamps, explosive lamps and flashing lamp. The specially manufactured lamp assembly can effectively simulate the explosion process of fireworks controlled by electronic-control system.Type: GrantFiled: October 6, 1999Date of Patent: November 6, 2001Inventor: Limin Liu

Patent number: 6312143Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for illuminating at least one surface, which includes a light source and a reflector in order to focus the light rays emitted by the source. In said device, the focal plane of the reflector lies between the light source and the said surface and it includes, positioned close to the focal plane of the reflector, a means forming a second light source.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 1998Date of Patent: November 6, 2001Assignee: Thomson Multimedia S.A.Inventors: Valter Drazic, Eric Marcellin-Dibon, Khaled Sarayeddine

Patent number: 6312144Abstract: A method and system for condensing and collecting electromagnetic radiation onto a target surface comprised generally of a radiation source, a primary reflector and a retro-reflector having a shape complementary to the shape of the primary reflector is disclosed. The primary reflector has a reflecting surface for reflecting the radiation from the source which is substantially concave in shape. The radiation source emits substantially uniform radiation flux in substantially all directions which is collected by the primary reflector and redirected toward the target surface. The retro-reflector, having a complementary shape which depends upon the shape of the primary reflector, is positioned so as to intercept a portion of the radiation redirected toward the target surface. The retro-reflector reflects the intercepted portion of the radiation back toward said primary reflector along the same path such that the redirected radiation is channeled back through the source.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 2000Date of Patent: November 6, 2001Assignee: Cogent Light Technologies, Inc.Inventor: Kenneth K. Patent number: 6312145Abstract: A new Camouflage Light Cover for offering a device which disguises headlights and lenses of a vehicle such as a military vehicle, hunting vehicle, ATV, or the like. The inventive device includes a lens cover, a snap-on attachment means, a spring system, pressure standoffs, and heat dissipating standoffs, and is quickly removable when absolutely necessary. Camouflage light covers are for use with military and hunting vehicles and transportation devices to conceal the lights, fixtures, mounting equipment, and other apparatus used to secure the lights, from other people, animals, and other viewing devices that may view the vehicle or other transportation devices. In reference to camouflage light covers, the same procedures and disclosures described in the present invention of camouflaged light covers can be extended to include any printed light covers using the same methods and techniques as those used or employed in the present invention of camouflage light covers and the prior invention of camouflage eyewear.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 1998Date of Patent: November 6, 2001Inventor: Don F. Patent number: 6312146Abstract: A system for hanging a lamp at any of a plurality of locations includes an electrical box positioned at a fixed location in a ceiling. A mounting plate has an exterior periphery with a circular central aperture there through and with holes adapted to the periphery and screws extending there through. A slip plate has a large exterior diameter greater than the diameter of the mounting plate. The slip plate is formed with a slot along the majority of one diametric extent. A small washer located between the slip plate and the mounting plate has a central aperture there through essentially equal to the diameter of the central aperture of the mounting plate and the width of the slot. A flanged cylinder has a cylindrical central extent, a central bore, a flanged interior upper end located above and in contact with the mounting plate, and a flanged exterior end in contact with the slip plate.Type: GrantFiled: February 3, 2000Date of Patent: November 6, 2001Inventor: Robert Tognacci
