Abstract: A method for searching in multiple relationship-searching hosts. The method can be installed in a computer, wherein the computer comprises a user interface (UI) to access search conditions. Firstly the method begins with inputting the search conditions on the UI. Next, the search conditions are transmitted to the hosts with each of the hosts' data format retrieved from a server data format database in the computer. Then the hosts retrieve search results according to the search conditions and transmit the search results to the computer. Next, the search results are stored in a found profile database of the computer. The method makes a user be capable to register and search matched users in the multiple relationship-searching hosts, instead of repeatedly behavior of search in different hosts.

Abstract: An information management system includes an indexing subsystem and a document management subsystem. The system layers an object-oriented architecture over a relational database to manage folders and files from a variety of file systems. Managed files are incrementally indexed by the indexing subsystem and can be retrieved by a user by knowing content of a managed file. Folders and documents are also logically organized for presentation to the user.

Abstract: This invention provides a system for matching a user with an item in the nature of an activity, sporting or other event, or facility, referred to collectively as an ASEF, based on a request made by a user of the system. A database stores information related to the ASEF, such as the date, time and type of ASEF, along with the location of the ASEF. The database can represent the location of the ASEF in terms of latitude and longitude. The database can also include the latitude and longitude of each client user's position or have such user position location provided separately. When a client user interrogates the database, such as through a computer based server, with a request for information on a specific ASEF, the server not only supplies the available related ASEF information, but also calculates the distance from the client user's location to each of the ASEF's related to the user's request.

Abstract: A method for monitoring and browsing a database for a test system is proposed. In application of the internet system, a user connects a personal computer and an internet server through a network, wherein the internet server is connected a database server or acts as a database server if a database system is installed in the internet server, allowing the user to browse test results in the database server. With a proper access right for the database system, the user can remotely access and control the database system by using a browser and internet. As a result, the method for monitoring and browsing the database for the test system, by means of the browser and internet, allows the user not only to browse the test results in the database system but also to monitor and control the database system remotely.

A forms publisher submits a form and an associated report to the forms handling system. The form includes one or more data submission fields for accumulating data entries submitted into the form by visitors to the forms handling system. The report includes report elements for returning tabulated data entries accumulated using the form. The forms handling system automatically creates a database table corresponding to the form, and correlates each form submission field with a database storage element, such as a column in the database table, that accumulate data entries for its associated form submission field. The forms handling system also coordinates the database table with the associated report file, and periodically generates and delivers reports to the a specified location in accordance a service definition provided by the form publisher.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for enabling inconsistent or unsafe threads to efficiently reach a consistent or safe state when a requesting thread requests a consistent state are disclosed. According to one aspect of the present invention, a method for requesting a consistent state in a multi-threaded computing environment using a first thread includes acquiring a consistent state lock using the first thread, and identifying substantially all threads in the environment that are inconsistent. The state of the inconsistent threads is altered to a consistent state, and the first thread is notified when the states of the previously inconsistent threads have been altered to be consistent. Once the first thread is notified, the first thread releases the consistent state lock. In one embodiment, the method also includes performing a garbage collection after releasing the consistent state lock using the first thread.

Abstract: In a distributed object system, the services available on the network are modeled as network objects. A client typically communicates with and uses these objects using Internet connections. As the number of clients increase the servers can get overwhelmed by the number of connections coming into the server resulting in sluggish response and/or loss of service. The invention describes the mechanisms for reducing the required number of connections by automatically concentrating multiple connections onto a single connection. This is done by introducing shared intermediate connection concentrators called gateways. When the client invokes on an external object reference, the ORB running on the client automatically forwards the request to a gateway assigned to it, which then forwards it onto a shared connection to the server. The solution is symmetrical—if the server invokes on an object running inside the client, the invocation again flows through the gateway.

A one-on-one audio/video-call system allows communication between an elderly or disabled user and caregiver using audio, video and/or data. The console has a digital processor, storage, software, and connections to telephone equipment, channel tuner, a video camera, and steering for the video camera. A remote control issues commands to the console to initiate or accept calls to the other communication system. The phone line is used to carry the audio portion of the call while the network is used to carry any video and/or data portion of the call. In some embodiments, a passkey allows the caregiver's communication system to control the user's communication system without any interaction by the user. In other embodiments, more than one video camera is used for a communication system.

Abstract: The present invention includes a mobile device which provides the user with the ability to schedule a meeting request from the mobile device itself. Abstract: The invention relates to a method and system for handling E-mail messages in a communication system. According to the present invention in a communication system comprising one or several intermediate receivers any attachment in an E-mail message is detached in the intermediate receiver and stored. Furthermore the attachment is replaced with a reference to the stored attachment before the E-mail message is forwarded to the recipient. With the use of the present invention the attachment of the E-mail stays always as close as possible to the receiver location. Changes to E-mail handling components on the sender's side and in the transmitting network are not necessary. Since storage and transmission of redundant data is suppressed, there are considerable savings of transmission cost, disk space, and mailing time.
