  • Patent number: RE37497
Abstract: Apparatus and method for crimping the side walls of a sheet metal building panel independently of a main crimper which crimps the belly of the panel. The depth and the position along the panel of the side crimp is adjusted independently of the main crimpers in relation to the radius the panel is being curved and the length of panel that has passed through the apparatus. The adjustment is controlled by a microprocessor. The microprocessor controls a hydraulic motor which drives a machine screw which activates a scissors-jack type linkage. Blocks holding the rotatably mounted crimping rollers are mounted on slides and attached to the linkage. As the linkage moves, the depth of the crimping rollers is adjusted. The rotation of the crimping rollers is hydraulically driven through a gear-sprocket rotary motion drive train.

  • Patent number: RE37503
Abstract: There are disclosed recording/reproducing devices for use with computers and particularly for recording or reproducing desired information on or from recording mediums like floppy disks, the devices being miniaturized and reduced in thickness for adapting themselves to the miniaturized computers of nowadays. The reduction in device thickness involves the use of a small-sized rare earth group magnet and neodymium ferrous boron which have good magnetic properties as rotor magnets of disk and carriage driving motors; or alternatively planar superpositions are avoided when placing the disk driving motor and the carriage or a carriage guide shaft and a circuit board. The thinned recording/reproducing devices contribute to diminishment of a space for accommodating the computer to meet a demand for miniaturization thereof. A plurality of miniaturized recording/reproducing devices of the invention can be set in the existing space for placement.

  • Patent number: 6336244
Abstract: In an electric blower, exhaust air discharged radially from a centrifugal fan is redirected to a motor drive section by a diffuser and a fan cover. The air passes from a ventilation opening on a motor frame and through a bracket to cool the motor drive section. A portion of the air from the centrifugal fan is bled off through exhaust openings without passing over the motor, whereby this portion remains cooler and cleaner than the air that passes over the motor. Air flows up a wand and then passes over the motor to cool the motor. This air passes through filters before being discharged. The portion of air that is bled off passes along a parallel path in the wand to agitate dirt, and to maintain the wand relatively cool. In one embodiment, some of the bled-off portion is discharged directly without passing along the wand.

  • Patent number: 6336249
Abstract: An improved plastic elongated hinge having an open spine and being adapted to replace a conventional piano hinge at a significantly reduced cost. The plastic elongated hinge includes at least two spaced apart pivotally pinned connections. The open spine permits the elongated hinge to be produced using substantially less plastic material. The hinge is preferably injection molded, and the pivotal connections are short in order to reduce the throw of the mold pins and thus maximize the production cycle time. An entirely integral snappedly engaging pivot connection is provided when more than two pivot connections are required. The entirely integral snap engagement connections require no moveable mold pins. This further reduces the costs of the hinge. Preferably, the elongated hinge is solvent bonded to plastic hinged members.

  • Patent number: 6336251
Abstract: An elastic hinge for eyeglasses, comprising a temple which has an end provided with a hollow body which accommodates, with a coupling which allows only rotation, part of a tubular element in which one end of a shaped element is guided with a coupling which allows only sliding. The shaped element has, at the other end, an eyelet which is inserted between two other eyelets which are fixed to the front of the eyeglasses so as to form the articulation of the hinge. A single spring is fixed with a first end to a part of the shaped element located inside the tubular element, with a second end to the hollow body and with a portion, which is intermediate between the first and second ends, to the tubular element.

  • Patent number: 6336252
Abstract: A rotary damper is adapted to exert braking force to an upswung door, a toilet lid or the like when the door is closed and dampen the impact produced by the closing door by a damping force far greater than the one obtained by a conventional rotary damper using viscous shearing resistance. The rotary damper can also make the door open by a force far smaller than a conventional rotary damper. A movable shaft is rotatably housed in a casing and has a cylindrical shaft section including an arcuate non-resilient section extending from a peripheral edge thereof to an axial base line close to the other free peripheral edge thereof and an eccentric resilient section extending from the axial base line to the other free peripheral edge thereof with its eccentricity increasing as a function of the distance from the base line relative to the radius of curvature of the inner peripheral surface so as resiliently abut the inner peripheral surface.

  • Patent number: 6336256
Abstract: The object of the invention is to facilitate the entry of a fiber band into a drawing machine. The invention is comprised of a fiber band insertion apparatus having a combination condenser and guide device with a longitudinal slot extending over its entire length. The guide device is followed by roll pair, which, at least during the laying in of the fiber band, has an accessible entry opening. This opening is at least partially formed by a recess in at least one of the opposed sides of the roll pair. The recess is separated by a flange on one of the circumferential rim surfaces which are mutually profiled to provide space for a compression line for the fiber band. The entry opening of the roll pair and/or feeders, as well as the entry slot of the condenser are, essentially, arranged in a common plane. With the aid of the invented apparatus, the fiber band is laid into the band entry device by a movement transverse to the normal transport direction of the fiber band when the drawing machine is running.

  • Patent number: 6336258
Abstract: A given plurality of empty round (cylindrical) cans are brought by a can carrier into an empty can magazine of a textile machine which produces a band output. These cans are taken from the can carrier, one after another, to be filled at a filling station from whence filled cans are sequentially moved to a just emptied can carrier in a full can magazine. This can carrier, after the receipt of a given plurality of filled cans, are transported out of the full can magazine. Subsequently, the can carrier, which, in the intervening time, has been emptied and is now to be found in the empty can magazine, is transported by means of an elevated crossover into the full can magazine, which has become free. For the well-timed release of a can carrier loaded with empty cans as well as the transporting of a can carrier from the filling operation loaded with filled cans, there is a Hold Station serving as a buffer zone for an empty can with its can carrier.
