Publication number: 20020014163Abstract: A combination base plate and heat exchanger accessory are inserted into an existing cooking grill between the cooking area and the heat source of the cooking grill to suppress or prevent flame flare-ups caused by ignition of drippings. The bottom surface of the base plate is disposed in close proximity to the heat source of the cooking grill. The heat exchanger has an upper surface that is corrugated or channeled, to catch drippings and conduct them away from the surface of the heat exchanger to a drip edge disposed along a perimeter edge of the heat exchanger. The drippings are thus prevented from contacting the heat source of the cooking grill and causing flame flare-ups which may singe or burn the foodstuff being cooked.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 31, 2001Publication date: February 7, 2002Inventor: Darryl L. Publication number: 20020014194Abstract: A boat featuring an autopilot-based steering and maneuvering system. The steering system uses a specially integrated autopilot that remains engaged unless the operator is actively commanding the boat to change course. That movement automatically disengages the autopilot, allowing the operator to achieve the course change. When the operator has completed the course change and released the joystick, a centering spring returns it to a neutral position and the autopilot automatically reengages. In the improved maneuvering system, the autopilot is used for controlling the direction of a waterjet boat during very low speed (e.g., less than 4 knots) maneuvers, such as docking. The autopilot controls the steering system, e.g.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 16, 2001Publication date: February 7, 2002Applicant: The Talaria Company, LLC, a Delaware corporationInventors: Shepard W. Publication number: 20020014206Abstract: A fluid mass flow control apparatus, particularly useful for controlling low flow rates of fluids used in semiconductor manufacturing processes, comprises a first elongated flow tube connected to an inlet fitting and to a capsulelike valve housing and a second elongated tube connected to the inlet fitting and the valve housing and including a flow sensor. The valve housing is connected to a magnetostrictive actuator including an elongated actuator member disposed in a conduit connected to the valve housing and serving as part of the fluid flow path through the apparatus. An electromagnetic coil is disposed about the conduit and the actuator and is responsive to energization to effect controlled elongation of the actuator to control the position of a valve closure member disposed in the valve housing. Adjustments to full-scale flow ranges of the apparatus may be obtained by inserting a tube or wire in the flow sensor tube to act as a flow restrictor.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 24, 2001Publication date: February 7, 2002Applicant: FuGasity CorporationInventor: Daniel T. Publication number: 20020014207Abstract: The disclosure relates to a vaporizer valve which accepts a carrier gas and a pressurized liquid and forms a mixture of the carrier gas and vaporized liquid. An internal cavity receives the carrier gas through a carrier aperture and the liquid through a liquid aperture, and the mixed gas and vapor are exhausted out of the cavity via a third aperture. A moveable diaphragm disposed adjacent to the liquid aperture forms a vaporization region having a pressure gradient. The liquid passing through this pressure gradient vaporizes due to expansion. By controlling the diaphragm position with a feedback control circuit responsive to a liquid flow rate monitor, the liquid flow rate may be controlled independently of the carrier gas flow rate.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 31, 2001Publication date: February 7, 2002Inventors: Visweswaren Sivaramakrishnan, John M. Publication number: 20020014208Abstract: A steel blade for turbomachinery, for example, a vane or blade of stainless steel for a steam turbine, has its working surface smoothed, for example, by tumble polishing, to a smoothness of about 0.25 microns Ra or less. Then the smoothed surface is subjected to plasma nitriding to harden the surface to a value of, for example, about 1000 on the Vickers hardness scale. The hardened nitrided layer in the steel can be 25 to 100 microns thick. The plasma nitriding process does not affect the smoothness of the area of surface being nitrided, and the resultant surface hardness preserves smoothness of the surface while the blade is in use.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 21, 2001Publication date: February 7, 2002Inventors: Bruce Wynn Roberts, Kenneth Elwen Jones

Publication number: 20020014209Abstract: An economical process that combines bentonite, or similar clays, that form a clump when in contact with cat urine, with waste cellulosic fibrous materials, preferably paper mill sludge, to form a light weight scoopable (clumping) cat litter product. In the process, paper mill cellulose waste is combined with bentonite clay (preferably sodium bentonite) in a mixing auger in varying percentages depending upon the desired end weight of the finished product, transferred to a secondary rotating drum mixer, then to a rotating drum dryer, and from the dryer to a screening process. The finished product is a granule weighing between 20 lbs./cubic foot and 50 lbs./cubic foot. The granule is highly absorbent and capable of forming a distinct clump that can be separated from the surrounding granules without falling apart. A unique characteristic of the process is the combination of heavy clay particles with light weight cellulose particles to form a new composite particle.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 11, 2001Publication date: February 7, 2002Inventor: Larry D. Publication number: 20020014211Abstract: A harness device for assisting livestock to stand, including a dorsal band with a first, front end and a second rear end. An adhesive surface and a thin neck strip are attached to the first end. At the second end of the band are two elastic pieces, each of which includes adjustable ankle attachments in the form of transverse self-adhesive strips. A related method includes placing the band on the animal's back, with the front end of the band toward the front of the animal, and the second end of the band toward the rear of the animal, extending the neck strip about the neck of the animal and removably attaching same via the adhesive surface at the first end of the band, extending the first and second elastic members along the legs of the animal, and removably attaching, respectively, the first and second attachments about ankles of the animal.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 19, 2001Publication date: February 7, 2002Inventors: Josep Sala Prat, Nuria Marce Anglarill
