Abstract: A reinforced hose coupling including an end fitting having first and second, axially extending sections with the first section comprising a connector and a second section providing a nipple with external grooves. A metal ferrule is mounted on the nipple and is connected to the end fitting. The ferrule has an external depression formed in a side thereof. Two holes are formed in this depression and extend through the wall of the ferrule. A reinforced hose end having flexible tubular rubber or plastic layers is crimped between the ferrule and the nipple. The hose end has an outer wire extending about the exterior of the tubular layers. An end piece of this wire extends through the holes and across the depression helping to secure the hose end to the coupling and providing an indication to the user that the coupling is in usable condition. Preferably the ferrule is formed with a circumferentially extending internal rim at one end, which rim is forced into a circumferential groove formed in the end-fitting.

Abstract: At a crossing, rubber interface strips are positioned between the rails and the asphalt or concrete. A U-shaped spring-clip fits underneath the rail, and has upstanding arms that carry tappets, which engage the strips. One of the arms is threaded, and carries a screwed tappet-rod. Turning the tappet-rod closes the distance between the tappets, clamping the strips onto the sides of the rail, and forcing the springy arms apart. The spring-clips are manipulated into position while in an unstressed condition. The spring-clip is only brought up to force when finally assembled. Assembly can be done without tools, and with little danger of mix-assembly, or of injury to workers.

Abstract: In the present invention, at least one tubular blank and at least one article such as a metal stamping, to be attached to a hydroformed part, are loaded into a die. The tube is hydroformed using typical methods. The article is positioned in the die such that, when the tube is hydroformed, the final hydroformed tube contacts the article at least at a point. Attachment means, such as a laser welder, are provided with access to the contact point between the article and the hydroformed tube so that a tack weld or other attachment can be made between the article and the hydroformed tube while still in the closed die. Abstract: A torque limiting device that allows a drill string to rotate relative to the cutting structure of the bit when a predetermined torque is applied between the cutting structure of the drill bit and the drill string. The torque limiting device utilizes a retaining member which restricts rotational movement of a first component of the torque limiting device relative to a second component. When a sufficient torque load is placed on the cutting structure of the drill bit, the retaining member allows rotational movement of the first component relative to the second component and allows the drill string to continue to rotate relative to the cutting structure of the bit until the torque is sufficiently reduced. The torque limiting device may be an integral part of a drill bit, may be a separate device attached between the drill string and the drill bit or between the drill string and a downhole motor, or may be part of a near-bit sub or incorporated in a downhole motor.

Abstract: In a part-mounting system formed by linking plural part-mounting devices which carry out respective process steps of part-mounting, when a production tact-time of one of the devices varies beyond a given variation range, a tact-time change signal is sent to other devices located at upstream and/or downstream of the device via a communicating section. The other devices receive the tact-time change signal and changes their own work tact-times from the ones corresponding to a productivity-oriented mode to a slower tact-pattern corresponding to a quality-oriented mode. Thus every device constituting the system can accommodate a tact-time variation due to a tact-time delay of any part-mounting device. Abstract: A bow sight provides horizontal, vertical and at least one rotational adjustment mechanism which provides continuous movement of the sight ring without having to release a locking mechanism and still not allow unintentional movement of the sight ring. The sight has a plurality of sight pins having illuminated tips located at spaced-apart locations along a vertical sight line which extends across the sight ring. First adjustment mechanisms allow the sight pins to be rotated in order to set the location of the tips along the sight line and second adjustment mechanisms allow the sight pins to be moved along their longitudinal axes to align them with the sight line after they have been rotated. The sight also includes particular horizontal and vertical micro adjustment mechanisms which allow very small movements of the sight ring in the horizontal and vertical directions without having to release a locking mechanism.

In a preferred embodiment, a battery source powers light emanating elements evenly spaced along the extent of a survey rod, illuminating measurement markings along such rod. Different intensities and/or colors of lights, luminescent material, etc. can be used to indicate measurements along the rod. Mirrored surfaces can be used to further enhance the visual characteristics of light emanating from the lighted surveying rod of the present invention.
