Abstract: A twin spool counter-rotating turbofan gas turbine engine having a counter-rotating fan module integrated with the high pressure compressor and driven by a counter-rotating turbine utilizing only two drive shafts. The two drive shafts are aerodynamically coupled and rotate in opposite directions relative to each other with or without the use of a gearbox. The integration between the fan module and high pressure compressor allows the fan blade rows to operate at the same mechanical speed of the high pressure compressor blade rows. An afterburner module may be added to the present invention to provide thrust augmentation.

Abstract: In a microwave communications link, an antijamming antenna system with enhanced main beam nulling is realized by providing gain in the difference port output of a monopulse antenna compared to the sum port. As a consequence interference signals are nulled out at much closer angles to the desired signal than is the case when the gain is the same in both channels. The gain is introduced when a dominant jammer is detected. Detection of a dominant jammer is identified for the conditions in which the monopulse sum channel power level exceeds the sum of the difference channel power levels and the system processor output signal/noise ratio is unsatisfactory.

Abstract: Corrosion resistant non-polar polymer coatings and method for applying the coatings to substrates is described, wherein a source of non-polar polymer powder is deposited as a coating onto the surface of a substrate by high temperature thermal spray, wherein the non-polar character of the powder and any additives thereto is substantially preserved during the high temperature thermal spray by using a mixture of a non-oxidizing shielding gas or reducing gas, or combination of the two, at one or more locations along the thermal spray to displace or react with ambient oxygen.

Abstract: This invention relates to blends of a specific type of cis-l,4-polybutadiene rubber with other rubbery polymers, such as natural rubber, synthetic polyisoprene rubber, styrene-butadiene rubber, isoprene-butadiene rubber and/or styrene-isoprene- butadiene rubber. The cis-1,4-polybutadiene rubber utilized in the blends of this invention is synthesized by polymerizing 1,3-butadiene in the presence of (a) an organonickel compound, (b) an organoaluminum compound, (c) a fluorine containing compound and (d) para-styrenated diphenylamine; wherein the organoaluminum compound and the fluorine containing compound are brought together in the presence of the para-styrenated diphenylamine. The cis-1,4-polybutadiene rubber blends of this invention offer improved processability and enhanced physical properties. For instance, improved mixing which results in better incorporation of pigments and fillers, such as carbon black and silica, at lower levels of power consumption is realized.
Abstract: An electrosurgical instrument is provided for cauterization and/or welding of tissue of varying impedance, thickness and vascularity especially in the performance of endoscopic procedures. The instrument compresses the tissue between one pole of a bipolar energy source located on one interfacing surface, and a second interfacing surface applying pressure in a predetermined range wherein one of the interfacing surfaces is positioned on an anvil with a specified preload and spring rate. A second pole is located one of the two interfacing surfaces. In a preferred embodiment, the second pole is located on the same interfacing surface as the first pole and an insulator electrically isolates the two poles. A preferred application of the invention is in a cutting instrument wherein a hemostatic line is formed along a cut line using RF energy.

Abstract: A Calathea plant named ‘Dottie’ having nearly black green round leaves marked with vivid pink. The pink markings on the leaves do not fade as the plant matures.
Abstract: A new miniature rose plant which has abundant, pink flowers and attractive foliage. The variety successfully propagates from softwood cuttings and is suitable for year round production in commercial glasshouses. This new and distinct variety has shown to be uniform and stable in the resulting generations from asexual propagation.
Abstract: A new and distinct cultivar of Carnation plant named ‘Sunflor Campari’, characterized by its red-colored flowers; upright and mounded plant habit; good basal branching with about 10 lateral branches developing after pinching; dark green leaves; rapid growth rate; fragrant flowers, and good postproduction longevity.
