  • Publication number: 20020083517
Abstract: A skimmer protector with integral blow tube is a hollow, substantially closed, blow-molded body of resilient resin material having a cylindrical projection on one end with external screw threads for threading into the intake pipe of a swimming pool skimmer with an open integral tube running from and through said screw threaded portion to an opening elsewhere on its blow-molded body. The cylindrical projection on the body of the device is intended and designed to be threaded into the intake pipe or other part of a pool skimmer. When connected thereto, the skimmer protector is positioned to absorb/buffer the forces exerted by the expansion of ice as it freezes within the walled regions of the skimmer. The aforesaid integral tube serves to create a sealed air space between the tube and the outer walls. This sealed air space helps to resiliently stiffen the body of the skimmer protector, allowing it to better perform its function in absorbing ice expansion pressure.

Abstract: An extraction surface cleaning apparatus is provided having an extraction head adapted to be moved over a floor surface to be cleaned, a handle mounted to the extraction head for grasping by a user and propelling the extraction head over the floor surface, and an application and recovery system fluidly interconnected with the extraction head and movable therewith to apply at least one of water and cleaning solution to the floor surface and extract the same in combination with any dirt entrained therein. A detector is mounted to the extraction head for detecting the relative speed of the extraction head relative to the floor surface and generating a signal representative of such relative speed. An indicator is operably interconnected with the detector and is adapted to receive the signal generated by the detector and provide an indication to a user representative of the signal.

Abstract: An apparatus for cleaning floors which recycles waste heat and water to provide greater efficiency. An internal combustion engine is used to power the apparatus. Heat from the engine's lubricant is used to heat the wash solution applied to the floor. Heat from the engine's cooling air, radiator, and catalytic converter is used to dry the cleaned floor. A drying brush is also used to accelerate drying. Used rinse water is recycled for use as wash solution. Exhaust from the engine is used to preheat the floor to be cleaned. The engine may be used to propel the apparatus.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a hook retention portion of vacuum cleaner. The vacuum cleaner of the present invention comprises a cleaner body with a motor installed therein; a dust collector engaged detachably in the rear of the cleaner body; and a suction hole portion for guiding air, introduced by the motor, into the cleaner. Further, in the present invention, the suction hole portion is formed with a projecting hook portion, and a hook retention portion for engaging the projecting hook portion therewith is formed in the dust collector, whereby the suction hole portion can be hung on the dust collector. Furthermore, the hook retention portion of the dust collector is formed at a handle that is prominently formed at a rear face of the dust collector. According to the constitution of the present invention, the suction hole portion can be more easily stored on the body of the vacuum cleaner wherein the dust collector is mounted to the rear face of the cleaner body.

Abstract: A vacuum-cleaner floor head has a base plate formed with an elongated mouth through which air is aspirated, a frame vertically displaceable between a lower position and an upper position, and a seal strip carried on the frame, engaging a floor underneath the head in the lower position, and clear of the floor in the upper position. The strip is elastomerically compressible, surrounds the mouth, and is sufficiently firm to support the head off the floor without substantial deformation during normal back and forth stroking of the head on the floor in the lower position of the frame. The strip has at least to a front side of the mouth a profiled lower surface formed with a plurality of alternating ridges and hollows so that in the lower position the ridges engage the floor and air can be aspirated through the hollows between the floor and the strip.
