Abstract: Contoured intakes and fan housing assemblies for floor care machines are disclosed. In one embodiment, a contoured intake includes a contoured duct having a passage therethrough. The passage has a cross-sectional area progression that smoothly varies between a first cross-sectional area and a second cross-sectional area. Turbulence within the intake passage may be reduced or inhibited, and noise generated by the airstream within the intake passage may be reduced. In another embodiment, the contoured duct may include a bellmouth substantially surrounding the first open end that may inhibit the separation of the airstream within the intake passage. In a further embodiment, an airflow propulsion device for a floor care machine may include a motor having a drive shaft, a fan operatively coupled to the drive shaft, and a fan housing disposed about the fan and having a transition passage proximate the radially-outward ends of the vanes of the fan.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for mounting electronic parts wherein a transfer width between a pair of transfer rails is changeable according to a size of a substrate. A mounting head picks up electronic parts at a parts supply member and keeps its stand-by position for mounting the electronic parts on the substrate. The stand-by position of the mounting head is determined according to the changed amount of the transfer width.

Abstract: A molded circuit board is formed by a process comprising the steps of: molding liquid crystal polymer of plating grade into a primary product that has an outline corresponding to the dimensions of said molded circuit board; roughening the surface of said primary product; molding a secondary molded member to produce a secondary product by coating said primary molded member with oxyalkylene-containing poly(vinyl alcohol) resin over almost the entire surface thereof except for a circuit area on which a circuit is to be formed; heating said secondary product; applying catalyst to said circuit area where portions of surface of said primary molded member are not covered with said secondary molded member; heating said secondary product in hot water to elute the secondary molded member into hot water; and chemically plating the catalyst-applied-area to form a circuit thereon. This process minimizes the size of the molded circuit board, simplifies the procedure and thus reduce the production cost.

Abstract: A connector installation device wherein a connector has a stationary connector element and another connector element that is movable along an engagement axis with the stationary connector element and mates therewith. The movable connector element is formed with an insertion drive surface oriented relatively to the engagement axis. An insertion cam is movable perpendicular to the engagement axis of the mating connector elements. An insertion drive mechanism is interconnected with the insertion cam and is movable along an installation axis substantially perpendicularly to the engagement axis. A drive force applied to the insertion drive mechanism translates the insertion cam along the installation axis into contact with an insertion drive surface of the insertion cam. Pressure against the insertion drive surface translates the movable connector element along the engagement axis toward the stationary connector element.
