Abstract: Cable tie and method of making the same. In a preferred embodiment, the method comprises continuously forming a length of strap material using a rotary extrusion process, the strap material having laterally-extending teeth disposed along its entire length. The continuous length of strap material is then cut into individual straps of desired length, with the ends of each strap being shaped to desired profiles. A transverse hole may also be formed in the strap proximate to its front end. A front portion comprising a head is then insert-molded around the front end of the strap and, if present, the transverse hole in the strap. The head is provided with a transverse channel through which the tail end of the strap may be inserted and a locking tang lockably engageable with the teeth once inserted therepast.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for making a contoured muntin bar. A supply of sheet material having a finished surface on at least one side in the form of a coiled ribbon is unwound and fed along a strip path of travel to a punch station. At the punch station a ribbon punching mechanism punches the ribbon at a precisely predetermined locations along the ribbon to form one of a plurality notch patterns that define a portion of a contoured muntin bar. Downstream along the travel path from the punch station the ribbon is fed through a forming station having a succession of forming rolls that define a succession of forming roll nips to bend the ribbon and form a generally closed cross-sectional tube. The rolls form a number of bending stages to produce a muntin bar tube having a contoured shape with raised sides to provide an attractive appearance to a muntin grid.

A visible light beam emitting means is located within the housing for selected emission of a visible light beam from the beam emitting end of the housing. The emission of the visible light beam is provided such that the light beam projects from the beam emitting end concentrically with the central longitudinal axis.

Abstract: A method of adjusting the relative attitude of a work in a surface texture measuring instrument for measuring the work having a feature region includes a measurement step of performing measurement of the feature region along an X-axis direction after positioning a detector in a Y-axis direction and the X-axis direction, a determination step of repeating the measurement which is performed while changing the position in the X-axis direction, and a step of adjusting the attitude of the work on the basis of the amount of relative attitude correction. Therefore, the direction of the feature region in the work is adjusted so as to be parallel to the Y axis.

The product containers, such as jars, cans, and bottles, may be pulled forward toward the front of the display shelf by pulling a front member which is attached to two slide rails which fit into the vacant spaces near the bottom of rounded container sides. In an alternate embodiment, a base is provided to elevate the containers, and the slide rails slide underneath the container. The slide rails are attached to a rear member which engages the rear of the last product container in the row, and pushes the containers forward as the front member is pulled away from the display shelf. The device may be a wire frame which may include side covers of various shapes and sizes.

Abstract: A tool and method for installing siding panels in overlapped relation. The tool comprises a clamp and lip arrangement for clamping and supporting a panel on a previously installed panel, a handle extending from the clamp, a first gauge for setting the overlap between successive panels, a second gauge for marking or drilling nail installation locations, and an arrangement for changing the amount of overlap between successive panels. In use, one or more of the tools are clamped along the bottom edge of a panel being installed and the tool supported by the lip on the upper edge of the previously installed board, enabling the installer to temporarily tack the new panel in place. The tool(s) can then be removed from the new piece by twisting and pulling down on the handle portion. The second gauge is used to mark/drill the nail installation locations, prior to or after tacking.

Abstract: Precision measuring apparatus like Co-ordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) are very susceptible to deformations due to temperature variations and gradients. In a known CCM such variations are counteracted by providing parts of the apparatus with an insulating PUR layer. According to the invention the metrology frame 2 of the measuring apparatus is provided with a heat shield 12, 15 which includes an inner layer 12, having a comparatively high heat resistance, and an outer layer (14) which has a comparatively low heat resistance. Temperature gradients causing deformations of the metrology frame 2 are thus effectively reduced, whereas homogeneous temperature variations can be easily compensated for by means of software correction. Moreover, the shield acts as a low-pass filter which reduces the temperature disturbances due to short-term heat inputs.

The antler scoring system includes a housing, a wheel member rotatably attached to the housing for measuring lengths and diameters, a central processing unit within the housing in communication with the wheel member for calculating measurements and a final score, a keypad for entering in manual measurements, and a ruler extendably positioned within. The user first utilizes the wheel member to measure the length of the main beams, each tine length, and the circumference between each tine. The user then utilizes the ruler to measure the inside spread between the main beams which is entered into the keypad. The central processing unit combines the total measurements to generate a final score based upon one or more antler scoring systems such as BOONE & CROCKET, SAFARI CLUB INTERNATIONAL, and BUCKMASTERS TROPHY RECORDS.

Abstract: A shoe ventilation apparatus (10) comprises a insert (12) fitting over the sole (L) of a shoe (S). An arch (A) extending upwardly from the sole, together with the insert defines a first air chamber (A1) at the heel (H) of the shoe, and a second air chamber (A2) at the toe (T) thereof. Air passages (28) in the heel of the shoe provide air to the first air chamber when the person wearing the shoe transfers their weight onto their toes. Air is expelled from the second air chamber through outlets (44) to ventilate the person's foot as the person transfers their weight from their toes to their heel. At this time, the person's weight presses down on the rear portion of the insert, compressing the first air chamber and forcing air from the first air chamber into the second air chamber. The circulated air is then vented from the shoe. A second embodiment of the invention comprises a booty (70) which is inserted in the shoe for circulating air through the shoe.
