  • Patent number: 6508432
Abstract: The invention is a toilet paper dispenser designed to hold two rolls of toilet paper. The dispenser has a housing containing a primary roll support and a secondary roll support. The secondary roll support is disposed parallel to and vertically above the primary roll support. The secondary roll support is connected to a release mechanism operative to lower the secondary roll support into a position to dispense toilet paper from its roll of toilet paper when the primary roll of toilet paper is exhausted. A roll guard prevents access to the secondary roll until the release mechanism has been activated. The release mechanism is automatically activated and released by a user-controlled trigger mechanism, preferably a lever, so that a user exhausting the primary roll of toilet paper may access the secondary roll without interfering with the dispenser.

  • Patent number: 6508433
Abstract: A collapsible hub assembly is disclosed. The collapsible hub assembly includes a hub having a slot formed therein and a first contact surface, a wedge movably positioned in the slot and including a second contact surface. The wedge is movable between a locked position and a collapsed position. With the wedge in the locked position, a material pack is wound onto the collapsible hub assembly and engages the first and second contact surfaces with a first force that fixedly connects the material pack to the hub and the wedge. The material pack can be removed from the collapsible hub assembly by moving the wedge to the collapsed position so that the magnitude of the first force is reduced and the material pack is not fixedly connected to the hub. A lock can be movably positioned in the slot to hold the wedge at the locked position. The wedge can be moved to the collapsed position by removing the lock.

  • Patent number: 6508435
Abstract: Aerospace technology, in particular, methods for orbital injection of payloads (communication satellites, monitoring satellites, etc.) into low and medium earth orbits with the aid of aerospace systems comprising a carrier aircraft (CA) and a launch vehicle (LV) with a payload (PL). In the present method, after the CA 1 takeoff from the base aerodrome, its flight in the maximum cruising speed mode to the LV 2 launch area, pitchdown 7 of the CA 1 is effected to gain the maximum permissible horizontal flight speed, and at the moment that speed is attained, CA 1 pitchup 8 with the maximum allowable angle of attack is executed, culminating in transition to an angle of attack with a near-zero g-load (zero-gravity condition), with the pitchup parameters chosen so that at the LV 2 with PL 3 point of separation from the CA 1, the CA 1 has attained a speed VD, flight altitude HD and a trajectory pitch angle Od ensuring a maximum PL 3 and a near-zero normal g-load 9.

  • Patent number: 6508438
Abstract: A spacecraft orbit control system and method for controlling the orbit of a spacecraft during orbit raising includes processing spacecraft position data to meet the spacecraft attitude sensing needs for long duration, low thrust orbit raising burns. The actual spacecraft position as determined by a global positioning system (GPS) receiver is compared with the desired spacecraft position to generate an error signal indicative of a spacecraft position error for adjusting the attitude of the spacecraft as thrusters move the spacecraft. The attitude of the spacecraft is adjusted to eliminate the spacecraft position error such that the actual spacecraft position corresponds with the desired spacecraft position and the spacecraft maintains a desired orbit during the orbit raising.

Abstract: A novel game and board or surface is played in combination with two sets of playing pieces consisting of three dice each, one set being visibly distinguishable from the second set and wherein in one embodiment all bets are placed on the board or surface before the first set of dice is throw to speed up the method of play and payoffs for each bet are set by the house. Optionally, the house may set and take additional bets between a throw of the first set of dice and a throw of the second set of dice. In another embodiment of the invention, players use the two sets of dice in sequence wherein winning bets are related to poker hands such as open numbers from 3-35; 3 of a kind; 4 of a kind; 5 of a kind, straight; any 3 pair; 6 of a kind, and six sixes (but specifically excluding two of a kind to provide decisive winning odds for the house) and where the payoffs for each bet are 2 for 1, 3 for 1, 4 for 1, 5 for 1, 8 for 1, 8 for 1, 12 for 1, and 20 for 1, respectively, for example.

  • Patent number: 6508470
Abstract: A card game begins with players making a single wager. Five cards are dealt to a banker and each player. If a player has a predetermined poker hand, the player plays his poker hand against the banker's five cards. The player's game terminates and the player loses if the banker has a higher ranking poker hand; conversely, the player's game terminates and the player wins if the player has a higher ranking poker hand. If the player does not have a predetermined poker hand, the player and banker arrange their cards into two component hands and compare the hands. The banker rewards the player if both the player's hands outrank the corresponding banker's hands and collects the player's wager if both of the banker's hands outrank or tie the player's corresponding hands. The banker and player push if only one of the player's hands outranks the corresponding banker's hand.

Abstract: A multi-channel rotary joint with which a plurality of fluids of the same or different types can be made to flow as desired, including first connecting spaces sealed by mechanical seals and second connecting spaces sealed by mechanical seals and by elastic seals, such connecting spaces being between a joint housing and a rotator. A series of fluid passages that pass through the connecting spaces are also formed in the joint housing and the rotator. The mechanical seals are end-contact type seals and comprise balanced seals with a balance ratio &kgr; such that 0≦&kgr;≦1. Each elastic seal has a U-shaped cross section and is engaged and fixed to one of the opposing peripheral surfaces in a state in which an annular groove between inner and outer peripheral lips opens into the space with the higher pressure out of the second connecting space and its adjacent space.

Abstract: A piston ring is made of martensitic stainless steel. Except for the outer circumferential surface of the piston ring, a nitrided layer having a Vickers hardness of 700 or more is formed on the upper and lower surfaces and inner circumferential surface, and a nitrided layer having a Vickers hardness of less than 700 is formed below the nitrided layer. A hard film is then formed by ion plating only on the outer circumferential surface of the piston ring. The hard film formed by ion plating and the nitrided layer with a Vickers hardness of 700 or more are separated without making contact in the vicinity of at least one of corner sections formed by the upper and lower surfaces and outer circumferential surface.
