  • Patent number: 6510933
Abstract: A thrust plate assembly for a motor vehicle friction clutch comprises a housing rotatably arranged for rotating about an axis of rotation and a pressure plate arranged in the housing. The pressure plate is displaceable in the direction of an axis of rotation by a connection arrangement with the housing and is also fixed with respect to rotation relative to the housing. An energy accumulator is arranged between the housing and the pressure plate for applying force to the pressure plate in the direction of the axis of rotation for generating an engaging force. A contact arrangement is arranged at the housing and/or the pressure plate so that the energy accumulator contacts the contact arrangement when the pressure plate reaches a predetermined position. The application of force to the pressure plate by the energy accumulator is at least reduced when the energy accumulator contacts the contact arrangement.

  • Patent number: 6510934
Abstract: When the claw of the engagement piece abuts the raised portion of the lock gear, the engagement piece cannot move further and is held off at the position. When the lock gear turns a small amount then the indentation (indented portion between gear teeth on the periphery) meets the claw. At this event, the slider piece moves as it is sliding along the guide cam by the elastic force of the coil spring until the slider piece abuts the spacer. The claw of the engagement piece meshes the lock gear so that the power output shaft is fixed or will not turn whereby the wheel shafts are locked.

  • Patent number: 6510939
Abstract: A device for conveying packages includes a conveyor with a running surface ending with a terminal area, a series of stationary stops and vertical prongs under the stops and above the running surface. The prongs move along a path which follows a circular trajectory in the terminal area. Packages are introduced between two heat-sealing vertical belts in an inlet area. The inlet area of the vertical belts is situated at a distance from the terminal area of the conveyor. A forwarding belt, coplanar with the running surface of the conveyor, is situated between the inlet area and the terminal area of the conveyor. The forwarding belt is operated with a speed higher than the operation speed of the conveyor, so that the packages are not subjected to the prongs action when they rotate upward in the terminal area. The forwarding belt extends from the terminal area of the conveyor, to at least the inlet area of the vertical belts, and the stops protrude to cover the major part of the forwarding belt.

  • Patent number: 6510941
Abstract: An endless conveyor belt has a thermal fluid (gas or liquid) sprayed against a portion of its underside to define a temperature-controlled region of the belt. To prevent the lateral escape of the thermal fluid, stationary seals are provided which contact the belt underside adjacent respective longitudinal edges of the belt. To keep the seals in continuous contact with the belt, despite warping that might occur, the seals carry magnets, and the belt is formed of a magnetizable material. Hence, the magnets force the belt and seals together.

Abstract: The joining tool according to the present invention is provided with a rotor and a probe having a diameter smaller than a diameter of the rotor. The probe is protruded from a part of an end face of the rotor. A groove is formed at least on a middle portion of a peripheral surface of the probe so as to extend in the axial direction of the probe. The probe is provided with an agitating protrusion formed only on a region of from the basal end portion of the probe to a longitudinal middle portion. In a friction agitation joining method according to the present invention, the rotating probe of the aforementioned joining tool inserted into stacked joining members such that the groove crosses a superposed interface between the joining members and that the protrusion is buried only in one of the joining members located at a probe basal end side. While keeping this state, the probe is moved relative to the joining members to thereby join the joining members.

Abstract: An oxidized (220) copper leadframe and a semiconductor die with copper posts extending from die pads, and with solder balls coated (225) with flux on the end of the copper posts, are provided. The semiconductor die is placed (230) on the oxidized copper leadframe, with the solder balls abutting portions of the layer of oxide, above and aligned with, interconnect locations on the leadframe. When reflowed (235), the flux on the abutting portions of the oxide layer selectively cleans these portions of the oxide layer, away from the interconnect locations. In addition, the solder balls change to molten state and adhere to the cleaned copper surfaces at the interconnect locations. Advantageously, the rest of the oxide layer that is not cleaned away provides a passivation layer that advantageously contains and prevents the molten solder from flowing away from the interconnect locations.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for placing solder balls 320 on electronic pads 910 or 1010 on a component 900 or substrate 1000, such as for a ball grid array (BGA) applicator 100. The solder balls 320 are held to openings 202 in a foil 130 against a second layer 350 by a holding force, whereby the second layer is of a porous material and laminated to the foil 130. One such holding force can be a vacuum force 222 applied to the solder balls 320 through the openings 202 in a foil 130. After locating the solder balls 320 at electronic pads 910 or 1010 on a component 900 or substrate 1000, by removing the holding force 222, the solder balls 320 are released and placed on the electronic pads 910, 1010. Optionally, a plurality of pins may provide a releasing and/or placing force.
