Abstract: This invention relates to a sealing spring fasteners, which comprise one or more snapping engagement segments. The snapping engagement segments have engagement sections, which in turn have engagement bent portions. The engagement bent portions provide the sealing spring fasteners with considerably increased holding power. The invention also pertains a method of making the fasteners, as well as vehicles comprising such fasteners.

Abstract: This invention discloses fasteners characterized by the use of barbs to secure a primary object in place. More particularly, the barbs which are used are critically shaped barbs resulting in considerable increase of the holding force without sacrificing the flexibility of the barbs, the force needed to insert part of the primary object into the fastener, and without sacrificing the broad acceptability of various thicknesses of the primary object to be fastened. The distance between the front point of a barb and the respective opposite side structure may preferably be smaller than the thickness of said material, such as sheet metal for example, that the fastener is made from. The fasteners of this invention may also be provided with spring members of intricate and critical structure, which despite easy insertion of the fastener into a slot of a secondary object, the removal force is greatly increased.

  • Publication number: 20030024080
Abstract: A slider-operated fastener comprises first and second opposing tracks including respective first and second interlocking profiles and respective first and second fins extending downward from the respective first and second profiles. The first and second fins are sealed to each other by a plurality of spaced preseals. After generating each preseal, a notch is formed in the profiles and upper portions of the fins at the generated preseal. To install a slider onto the fastener, the slider is initially positioned within the respective notch and then threaded onto the fastener in response to relative movement of the slider and the fastener. Either before or after the steps of forming each preseal and respective notch and installing the respective slider, the fastener is attached to a moving web of plastic film. The fastener-carrying web is later folded and sealed to form individual plastic bags.

Abstract: A buckle of an IC heat dissipating device for installing a heat dissipating fin device to a top surface of an IC located in an IC socket comprises a pair of clamping arms; a supporting frame being fixed to a top of the heat dissipating fin device; and an operation rod having a camshaft and a lever for rotating the camshaft. The camshaft passes through the supporting frame and is capable of rotating freely. In operation position, the cam of the camshaft will eject the pivotal connection of the clamping arms and the clamping arms will bend and deform. By the restoring force of these clamping arms, the ears at two ends of the clamping arms have sufficient forces to hook the hooks at two sides of the IC socket. In installing the present invention, the user only needs to press an operation portion slightly.

The methods can be used for all cases of electrically conductive elastomers and elastomers made to be conductive with the addition of conductive particles (such as carbon, silver, nickel, gold, etc.) including thermoplastic and some thermosetting elastomers.

Abstract: A method is described for producing an electrical connection between a plug element and a printed circuit board. A plug end of the at least one plug element is inserted in an opening extending through the printed circuit board. A solder, preferably in the form of solder paste, is applied essentially from above to at least parts of the opening or the area surrounding the opening. The connection between the board and the plug end is achieved by melting the solder. Prior to melting of the solder and/or application of the solder, the plug end is introduced into the opening in the printed circuit board essentially from below, and is held therein by a retaining arrangement such that during melting the solder enters the opening from above and contacts the plug end.

Abstract: The specification and drawings describe and show an embodiment of and method of forming a liquid flow through heat exchanger structure cast in a metal matrix composite. The composite comprises a preform reinforcement material infiltrated with molten metal. The composite reinforcement material is injection molded around the heat exchanger structure allowing for intimate contact between the composite and structure. The composite formed has a specific coefficient of thermal expansion to match an active heat-generating device mounted thereon. The present invention allows for enhanced thermal and mechanical properties by eliminating voids or gaps at the composite to heat exchanger structure interface, these voids or gaps being present in prior art fabrication methods or induced by usage due to thermal cycling of prior art composites.

Abstract: A metallic heat transfer tube, in particular for the evaporation of liquids from pure substances or mixtures on the outside of the tube. Fins are integrally formed on the outside of the tube. Recesses are arranged in the area of the base of the primary grooves and extend between the fins. The recesses are in the form of reentrant secondary grooves. The mechanical stability of the tube is not negatively influenced because material is primarily removed from the fin flanks toward the base of the groove so that the re-entrant secondary grooves are radially open.

Abstract: The method of and apparatus for producing fluid dynamic bearing parts is provided. Sets of grooves are formed by an electrochemical machining apparatus based on a design specification. The electrochemical machining process includes a process for extracting one bearing part in every predetermined number of machining cycles during the bearing parts production, a process for measuring shapes of the grooves on the extracted bearing part, a process for comparing the shapes of the grooves on the extracted bearing part with the design specification data, and a process for changing settings of the electrochemical machining apparatus depending on the result of the comparison. With these processes a stable and precise production of grooves on the fluid dynamic bearing parts are possible during mass production.

Abstract: An artistic knife with spare blades, including a main body in which a blade seat is back and forth slidably disposed. The main body is formed with a receptacle corresponding to the blade seat for receiving multiple spare blades. Each blade has more than one engaging notch. The blade seat is provided with a transversely movable engaging block corresponding to the engaging notch of the blade for inserting therein. When the blade seat is slided forward, the blade is driven to extend out of the main body. The main body has a guide rail corresponding to the engaging block. By means of the guiding and restriction of the guide rail, in the travel of the blade pushed out by the blade seat, the engaging block is inserted into the engaging notches of the blade deeper and deeper. In returning travel, the depth by which the engaging block is inserted in the engaging notch is gradually reduced until it is slightly smaller than the thickness of the blade. Therefore, the engaging block can be truly engaged with the blade.

Abstract: A cutting device is operable with one hand for cutting a circle or an elliptical shape in a sheet of material. In a first embodiment for cutting elliptical shapes, the cutting device includes a first member for placement on the sheet material and a second member for simultaneous pivotal and translatable movement with respect to the base plate. The first member has a first pivot point that is movable along a first axis, while the second member has a second pivot point that is movable along a second axis substantially perpendicular to the first axis. The first and second members are operably connected to each other at the first and second pivot points. A knob is connected to one of the pivot points and is sized to be grasped by one hand and rotated. Rotation of the knob about the one pivot point causes the second member to rotate and slide in an elliptical pattern with respect to the base plate.
