Abstract: A bi-directional overrunning clutch is disclosed for controlling torque transmission between a secondary drive shaft and secondary driven shafts. The overrunning clutch includes a pinion input shaft in a differential housing that engages with a clutch housing rotatably disposed within the differential housing. At least one race is located adjacent to the clutch housing and is engaged with an output shaft. A cage is located between the race and the clutch housing. The cage is movable with respect to the clutch housing. A first coil is mounted within the differential housing adjacent to the cage and is adapted to produce an electromagnetic field when energized which causes the cage to drag with respect to the clutch housing. The dragging of the cage with respect to the clutch housing positions rolls within the cage to engage the clutch housing with the race when wheels on a primary drive shaft lose traction.

Abstract: A vehicle washer nozzle liquid spray system having a source of washer liquid under pressure, a fluidic oscillator comprising a housing and a fluidic insert having a power nozzle, an oscillation chamber having an upstream end coupled to the power nozzle for issuing a jet of washer liquid into the oscillation chamber and a downstream end having an outlet aperture for issuing a jet of wash liquid to ambient, and side and top and bottom walls, an oscillation inducing silhouette in the oscillation chamber for causing said jet of wash liquid to rhythmically sweep back and forth between the sidewalls in the oscillation chamber. Top and bottom walls of the oscillation chamber first diverge for a predetermined distance in a downstream direction and then converge towards each other through said outlet aperture. This enables the deflection angle to be adjusted for different vehicles uses and applications by changes to the fluidic insert without changes to the housing.

The circular recesses in which the large-diameter portions are respectively fitted are respectively formed on the inner sides of the pin connection portions of the pair of annular side plates.

A second gear is connected to the output shaft of the electric motor. A counter shaft carries a third gear meshing with the first and second gears and connects to the differential gear unit. The internal combustion engine, differential gear unit and generator are aligned on a first axis, the electric motor is aligned on a second axis parallel to the first axis, the counter shaft is aligned on a third axis parallel to the first and second axes, the differential gear unit is aligned on a fourth axis parallel to the first, second and third axes, and the third axis is disposed inside of a triangle defined by the first, second and fourth axes when viewed on end.

Abstract: The present invention is generally characterized in an angled rotary tissue cutting instrument including an outer blade assembly, having a rigid tubular member with proximal and distal portions connected by a bead, and an inner blade assembly rotatably disposed within the outer blade assembly and including a tubular drive shaft at a proximal end, a cutting tip at a distal end, and a flexible coupling disposed between the drive shaft and the cutting tip. The drive shaft and cutting tip include neck portions which are disposed telescopically within proximal and distal ends of the coupling.

Abstract: A wetsuit with a close fitting portion above the waist and a loose fitting portion below the waist is disclosed. The close fit of the upper portion provides thermal insulation and coverage in the manner of a conventional wetsuit, whereas the lower portion provides maximum freedom of movement. The wetsuit provides protection against irritation and ultraviolet radiation that is superior to the typical combination of jacket and trunks.

The seal assembly itself includes a perimeter seal structured to define a primary chamber between the first and the second material panels, and which is substantially fluid impervious so as to contain a quantity of a fluid within the primary chamber for selective introduction and removal so as to define an inflated orientation and a deflated orientation of the primary chamber.

Abstract: The apparel of the present invention provides a method for creating the allusion of the wearer having a body tattoo. The apparel has an upper layer of material that forms the body of the apparel. An opening is formed within the upper layer to reveal or expose a lower layer of material attached at its periphery to the upper layer. The opening within the upper layer of material is formed by a jagged edge to give the appearance of a tear within the material. The lower layer is a different color than the upper layer of material and is preferably the same color of the wearer's skin tone to give the illusion that the torn area is revealing the wearer's skin. A tattoo is chosen by the wearer and added to the lower layer of material. The tattoo may be a permanent addition to the lower layer or may be removably attached to the lower layer.

Abstract: A durable colored article having fluorescent properties comprises a substantially solventless polyvinyl chloride matrix, a thioxanthene fluorescent dye, and a secondary or tertiary hindered amine light stabilizer having a molecular weight less than about 1000 grams/mole. The invention has the advantage in that it provides a flexible polyvinyl chloride film that exhibits durable fluorescent colors.

Abstract: The patch of the present invention provides a method for creating the illusion of an apparel wearer or other substrate, such as a vehicle or advertising medium of having a body tattoo. The patch has a top layer of material that includes a tattoo design surrounded by a bottom layer having a skin-toned or substrate matching colored background. The patch may be purchased with a pre-selected tattoo design permanently affixed to the background or removably fastened for replacement with a new tattoo design. The patch may also include material surrounding the skin-toned or substrate matching colored background. The surrounding material has a torn edge along the perimeter mating with the top layer to give the appearance of a tear within the material.

Abstract: A pair of complimentary gloves that can be used in the self-help rehabilitation of a joint (e.g., shoulder) or an affected limb (e.g., arm) is herein disclosed. Each member of the pair of gloves includes indicia and a set of instructions through which the individual is guided as to the use and performance of exercise routines for rehabilitative extension and/or exercise of a effected joint or muscle. In one of the preferred embodiments of this invention, each digital portion of the glove is configured to permit the ends of the fingers to extend from the glove; and, a complimentary “hook and loop” array is affixed to each of the palm side and backhand side of each glove, respectively. This diversity of treatment in each such array permits a glove on one hand to couple with either the palm or backhand surface of the complimentary glove on the opposite hand, and thereby effect movement of the enabled hand/arm to extend and flex the disabled hand/arm.

Abstract: A new invention, titled Dry Ear Set, has appeared. It is in the nature of personal hygiene. It is a single unit containing two ear covers, each with a water buffer and an elastic tape attached from one water buffer to the other, and riding across the upper lip. This unit is light, friendly and due to the manner of construction does the job of keeping water out of the ears while one takes a shower. It appears the Dry Ear Set would be suitable for the sick room and for the beauty parlor, as well as in the home.

Abstract: A device for allowing air to circulate is disclosed. An embodiment of the device has a base having an arcuate first side and a second side. The second side has a rib extending from the second side. The device also has a means for attaching the base to a hat. An alternative embodiment of the device is a vent having a first anchoring surface and a second anchoring surface. A truss extends from the first anchoring surface to the second anchoring surface. The devices described above may be used in a hat to allow air circulation. Another embodiment of the present invention is a vented hat having a corrugated head band. Finally, a method making a vented hat is disclosed.

Abstract: A wide brim hat is vacuum formed from a thin sheet of specially formulated PVC plastic. The PVC effectively blocks transmission of both WVA and UVB radiation and thereby provides significant protection against the sun. A removable elastic headband centers a wearer's head within the hat and spaces the wearer's head from the crown of the hat. In this manner, cooling air passages are provided between the wearer's head and the interior of the hat crown.

Abstract: A waistband stay for clothing inserts removably into the waistband of a pair of trousers, a dress or skirt, a pair of shorts, etc., and stiffens the waistband thereacross. This serves to prevent circumferential gathering, wrinkling, and the like of the waistband along the front and sides thereof due to compression of the fabric across the stomach or midriff of a person as the person sits, stoops, or otherwise bends forward at the waist. The present waistband stay is preferably formed of an elongate, narrow, thin piece of semi-flexible plastic which provides sufficient stiffness across its width to preclude folding of the waistband when installed therein. The use of the present waistband stay ensures that the waistband of the garment will remain unwrinkled and will provide a smooth and finished appearance for the article of clothing and for the wearer throughout the day.

Abstract: A venting toilet having a conventional ceramic bowl and flushing tank arrangement includes a water powered odor exhaust system which withdraws gases from the toilet bowl. A suction blower powered by a water motor through which the refill water to the toilet tank flows following flushing is arranged to draw odorous gases from the toilet bowl through a pair of intake manifolds built into the top of the bowl below the seat. The odorous gasses are delivered to the sewer system downstream of the water trap. An energy storage device containing a clock spring wound by the water motor, and a gear box are connected between the water motor and the suction blower, allow operating of the suction blower to draw odors from the toilet bowl even when the toilet has finished refilling.

Abstract: A dispenser for dispensing metered amount of liquid into a toilet cistern, comprising a basin adapted to receive a metered amount of dispensable liquid received from a container via a discharge spout. An airlock prevents further discharge of liquid above a predetermined amount in the basin when the discharge spout is covered by the dispensable liquid. A siphon inlet is in liquid communication with the metered amount in the basin, and the siphon outlet is in liquid communications with the cistern water at quiescent times. Upon flush, the siphon siphons out the dispensable liquid in the basin, breaking the airlock, and allowing a new metered amount of dispensable liquid to flow to the basin, ready for next flush.

Abstract: Apparatus to displace a raised toilet seat or cover member, comprising, in combination a carrier to be supported on a toilet water tank, structure pivotally supported on that carrier, a pusher associated with said structure positioned to displace said member as the structure pivots, and an actuator associated with said structure and positioned to pivot said structure in response to lowering of the surface level of water in the tank.

Abstract: A drain cleaner includes a casing having a tube engaged with an opening in the first end of the casing and the tube has a shrink opening on a top surface thereof. A high pressure can is received in the casing and includes a valve which is located in alignment with the shrink opening of the tube. A rod movably extends through a second end of the casing so as to push the can to let the valve be activated by the shrink opening and a high pressure is generated through the tube.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a toilet mounted bidet. The toilet mounted bidet includes a mounting plate attached to a toilet bowl. The toilet mounted bidet further includes an ejection nozzle that is comprised of a nozzle body and a nozzle cap joined together. The nozzle body is provided through the center portion thereof with a center ejection hole and along the outer surface thereof with a plurality of circumferential ejection grooves to allow washing water ejected through the center ejection hole to be integrated with the circumferential ejection holes. An arm is hingedly attached to the mounting plate and provided at its one end with the ejection nozzle. A water supply pipe supplies washing water to the ejection nozzle. Water pressure adjusting means optionally adjusts the pressure of washing water by adjusting the opening ratio of the water supply pipe.

Abstract: An improved system that allows a disabled person in a wheelchair to automatically empty the contents of a urinary waste from a leg bag, without the aid of an attendant. The system comprises a pump mounted on the wheelchair, with the pump having an inlet port and a discharge port. The inlet port is connectable to the drain tube of the leg bag, and a discharge line is connected to the discharge port of the pump. The discharge line is connected to a receptacle for collecting fluid flowing through said discharge line.

Abstract: A track assembly for flexible pool covers. The track assembly includes several track members, and splicing pieces for splicing the track members together in an end-to-end series. The splicing pieces are designed to reside beneath, and to be concealed by, the tracking members. The splicing pieces are attached to a pool deck with screws, after which the track members are snapped down onto the splicing pieces and held in place by said splicing pieces. The track members conceal the splicing pieces and the screws that hold the splicing pieces to the pool deck, thereby providing an aesthetic appearance of continuous tracking uninterrupted by screw holes. Such an arrangement also prevents the screws from coming loose and posing a risk to barefooted bathers, in part because at least some upward movement of the screws is prevented by the track pieces that reside directly above the screws.

Abstract: An automatic hair washer comprises a hair washing cistern into which the head of a person whose hair is to be washed can be inserted, and hair washing means for spouting hot water into the hair washing cistern to wash the hair of the person, and further, a head support for supporting the head of the person in the hair washing cistern. Therefore, the automatic hair washer can wash the back of the neck of the person sufficiently, without putting a big burden on the neck.

Abstract: A supine position assist apparatus, for adjusting the bed position of a person in the group of bed bound persons whose movement on or onto the bed is relatively the most severely hindered is provided and includes a first re-positioning movement element for moving the shoulder region of the bed bound person relative to the bed in a transverse direction perpendicular to the longitudinal extent of the bed, and a second re-positioning movement element. The re-positioning movement elements each include a pull cloth which is movable transversely. The second re-positioning movement element moves the back region of the bed bound person relative to the bed in a transverse direction perpendicular to the longitudinal extent of the bed. The first re-positioning movement element and the second re-positioning movement element are movable independent of each other.

Abstract: A lightweight, soft-sided, oval basket for use as a portable infant bed. The basket bed includes a basket body made with a continuous coil material produced by encasing a monofilament nylon cord and filler material in a fabric tube or casing. A decorative braiding stitch wraps around the coil material to provide support. Starting at the center of the bottom panel of the basket body, the coil material is spiraled concentrically outward and then upward to form an elongated oval basket body. The adjacent rows of the coil material are joined with transparent, nylon zigzag machine stitching. The coil material is used to produce handles which are formed along the top, center sections of the side walls. An optional lightweight rigid support member is placed over the top surface of the bottom member to provide additional support thereto. An optional mattress is also provided that fits inside the basket and over the support member.
