  • Patent number: 6560852
Abstract: Disc drives are made with an actuator designed with at least one asymmetrical arm having two masses that move out of phase. The arm is modified by removing a portion of the higher-energy (longitudinal) side, the one with the greater total time-averaged strain energy. This modification reduces the phase difference between the first and the second arm, particularly for a relevant frequency range of interest. Disc drives made by this method exhibit a generally reduced out-of-phase motion, enhancing performance during seeking and track following, especially for arms with two heads that interact with surfaces of opposing discs.

  • Patent number: 6560861
Abstract: Efficient methods are disclosed for fabricating spring structures in which a passive, conductive coating is deposited onto the spring structure after release. A release layer is deposited on a substrate and then a spring metal layer is formed thereon. A first mask is then used to etch the spring metal layer to form a spring metal finger. A second (release) mask is then deposited that defines a release window used to remove a portion of the release layer and release a free end of the spring metal finger. The second mask is also used as a mask during the subsequent directional deposition of a conductive coating material on the cantilevered tip of the finger. The second mask is then stripped, and the residual coating deposited thereon is lifted off. The resulting spring structure includes conductive coating on the upper surface and front edge of the finger tip.

  • Patent number: 6560883
Abstract: A method and system for providing an improved camber adjustment technique. The method comprises the steps of: turning the steerable wheel to a first position in which the steerable wheel is either toe-in or toe-out, then turning the steerable wheel to a second position in which the steerable wheel is toe-out if the steerable wheel is toe-in in the first position, and in which the steerable wheel is toe-in if the steerable wheel is toe-out in the first position. Toe angles and camber angles during the turning of the steerable wheel from the first position to the second position are measured. An adjustment amount of camber at any toe angle is determined by the difference between the camber angle at zero toe and a specification camber angle.

Abstract: A fixed pin bow sight is comprised of a bow sight having an attachment portion, a sight pin mounting portion and a sight pin having a plurality of sight tips on said sight pin. Each of the sight tips are predisposed on the sight pin and spaced to provide accurate targeting of an arrow shot from a bow having a particular shooting speed. The spacing between sight tips is defined by the desired targeting distances from the bow. For example, the uppermost sight tip may be configured for a target that is twenty yards away with subsequent sight tips provided for ten yard increments (e.g., 30, 40, 50 and 60 yards). The sight tips are configured to be vertically aligned relative to the ground when firing the bow so that as the distance from target is increased the appropriate sight tip moves from top to bottom of the sight pin.

Abstract: A pipe angle measuring tool and pipe angle marking tool are defined. A template is also defined which is a flexible substrate, such as paperboard, on which images of the tools are printed. A user may create the tools by cutting them out of the paperboard with ordinary scissors or by separating lines of weakness provided in the substrate. The tools are useful in measuring an angle between two pipes and marking the angle on a part of a selectable angle pipe elbow. The template is inexpensive to produce and can, therefore, be provided to purchasers of selectable angle pipe elbows at little or no charge to the purchaser.
