Abstract: Films having islands of noble metal protruding from and surrounded by a layer of a superconductor are formed by depositing a layer a noble metal on a substrate, and depositing a superconducting layer at a temperature that converts the noble metal film into puddles. The resulting film is useful as a two-dimensional array of superconductor-normal metal-superconductor Josephson junctions.

Abstract: Lithium niobate and tantalate crystal rods or boules are sawed to wafers with diamond edged saws in the presence of inert fluorinated lubricating liquids.
Abstract: A new and distinct cultivar of Poinsettia plant named ‘Eckalba’, characterized by its inflorescences with bright red-colored flower bracts; dark green-colored leaves; uniform and mounded plant habit; early flowering habit; and excellent post-production longevity.
Abstract: A new variety of Chrysanthemum plant named ‘Midas Time Gold,’ having golden-yellow quilled/spoon shaped ray florets with dark green disc florets.
Abstract: The new and distinctive cultivar of Brunnera named ‘Jack Frost’ characterized by an intense silver coating on top of the leaves with contrasting green veining and leaf edges, and light blue flowers in the spring, suitable for landscape or potted culture.
Abstract: A new and distinct variety of Hybrid Tea rose plant is provided which abundantly forms attractive very double pink blossoms with intense fragrance. The plant exhibits a semi-erect growth habit, dense dark green foliage with a dull aspect, and good resistance to Marsonina rosae and Sphaeroteca panosa. The attractive dark green foliage contrasts nicely with the pink blossom coloration. The new variety is particularly well suited for growing as attractive ornamentation in parks and gardens.
Abstract: A new and distinct Guzmania plant named ‘Deplagnum’ characterized by big inflorescence size; purple inflorescence with yellow-green scape bract tips; flat top of inflorescence; and dark, wide green leaves.
Abstract: A temperature climate control system comprises a variable temperature seat, at least one heat pump, at least one heat pump temperature sensor, and a controller. Each heat pump comprises a number of Peltier thermoelectric modules for temperature conditioning the air in a main heat exchanger and a main exchanger fan for passing the conditioned air from the main exchanger to the variable temperature seat. The Peltier modules and each main fan may be manually adjusted via a temperature switch and a fan switch, respectively. Additionally, the temperature climate control system may comprise a number of additional temperature sensors to monitor the temperature of the ambient air surrounding the occupant as well as the temperature of the conditioned air directed to the occupant.

Abstract: An improved method of fluid analysis in the borehole of a well. A fluid sampling tool is fitted with a pumpout module that can be used to draw fluids from the formation, circulate them through the instrument, and then expel this fluid to the borehole. It has been determined that certain measurements would be most valuable to implement down hole, such as the formation fluid bubble point and dew point. Accurate bubble point and dew point measurements are made by forming bubbles or a liquid drop in a measured sample, and detecting same.
Abstract: A system for reducing biological organisms in a liquid effluent to non-viable organic molecules that includes: a stunning chamber that applies a voltage potential across biological organisms to break cell membranes and disable the defense mechanisms of vital organisms to ultraviolet radiation; a cavitation chamber to physically destroy any remaining membranes of biologicals in the effluent that may play host to vital organisms or allow such to hide therein, the action of the stunning and cavitation chambers releasing interferons; and a molecularly implanted stimulated emitter (MISE) chamber in which high levels of ultraviolet radiation are applied to virions and spores that remain at frequencies that are readily absorbed and operate to disassociate any viable DNA and RNA strands remaining, to thereby cause “death”. Prior to the stunning chamber, preferably the effluent has any large solids therein, settled, floated or filtered out.
Abstract: A reagent for measurement of leukocytes and hemoglobin concentration in the blood includes a cationic surfactant in an amount sufficient to lyse erythrocytes and denature hemoglobin, at least one of the following hemoglobin stabilizers:
(a) sulfosalicylic acid, or its salt, in an amount effective for promoting the conversion of hemoglobin into methemoglobin,
(b) 0.2 to 10.0 g/L of a water-soluble chelating agent having a nitrogen atom and a carboxyl group, and
(c) piperazine, or its salt, in an amount effective for promoting the conversion of hemoglobin into methemoglobin, and
a buffer for maintaining pH at 4 to 6.
Abstract: A method treating or preventing inflammatory and immune cell-mediated diseases by the administration of certain novel and known small molecules.

Abstract: The present invention comprises a method and system for implementing prioritized communications in a computer system. The present invention is implemented on a computer system having a microprocessor and a plurality of peripheral devices coupled to the computer system. The system of the present invention determines a first priority level and determines a second priority level. The system of the present invention receives a bandwidth allocation request from a software process to transfer data at the first priority level between two or more peripheral devices. The system subsequently allocates a first priority data transfer bandwidth between the devices in response to the request and performs a first data transfer between the devices using the first priority data transfer bandwidth. In addition, the system of the present invention performs a second data transfer between other devices using a second priority data transfer bandwidth. The second data transfer occurs at a second priority level.
