  • Patent number: 6581654
Abstract: A pneumatic control head for controlling the supply of a product into a container via a filling head. A manifold has a pilot air duct. A start valve outputs main air to the pilot air duct when actuated by a mechanical switch. A pilot valve activates a cylinder using the main air in response to air pressure in the pilot air duct. A filling head source valve routs either sensing air or blow down air to a filling head output in response to the condition of a blow down valve actuated by a mechanical switch. An overpressure valve exhausts the pilot air duct in response to the sensing air having a pressure higher than normal. The switches each includes a ball bearing captured by a collar. An external cam pushes the ball bearing into the collar, causing the ball bearing to actuate the respective valve. Duct connections to valves are implemented by a single machined plate with a depression that overlaps the duct aperture and valve opening.

  • Patent number: 6581660
Abstract: The invention relates to a tire with rubber tread of cap/base construction. The tread base underlies the tread cap. The tread base is relatively thick, namely at least 50 percent of the thickness of the tread cap. It is desired that the tread base rubber composition contains a significant amount of sulfur to enhance physical properties of the tread base. The tread base rubber composition contains a combination of anti-reversion agents to counteract a tendency for reversion of physical properties of the tread base which is relatively thick as compared to the tread cap. The combination of anti-reversion co-agents is 1,3-bis-(citraconimidomethyl)benzene and hexamethylene 1,6-bis(thiosulfate), disodium salt, dehydrate thereby substantially maintaining the integrity of physical properties of the tread base, reduced tire operating temperature, as well as retarded or eliminated groove cracking in the tread cap has been observed.

Abstract: A method for determining the characteristics of a subterranean formation penetrated by an existing or drilled well is disclosed. The method uses a mathematical model to estimate formation parameters as fluid exits the formation through a hole and into the wellbore or tool. The model may be adapted to wells having a perforation extending from the wellbore into the formation by mathematically adjusting the perforation to the hole of the mathematical model. The formation properties may be estimated by mathematically eliminating the perforation and replacing it with an enlarged hole radius to simulate the mathematical model.

  • Patent number: 6581691
Abstract: A landing adapter is used to softly land a tubing hanger in the bore of a production tree. The landing adapter makes initial contact so that the tubing hanger does not have to absorb the harsh impact. The landing adapter has a hydraulic sleeve that strokes axially relative to the tubing hanger. Initially, the sleeve is extended and locked when it is run into the well so that the landing adapter can be hard-landed in the bore. When the sleeve lands in the bore, the impact is absorbed by a landing adapter buffer, not by the tubing hanger. After the hanger with the landing adapter has landed in the bore, hydraulic fluid is bled off so that the tubing hanger gradually descends axially relative to the sleeve and the tree to the retracted position. The landing adapter buffer remains in the tree after the tubing hanger is landed in the bore.

The shank further includes an upper shank portion adjacent the head, a lower shank portion at an end of the shank distal from the head, and a middle shank portion between the upper and lower shank portions. The corners of the middle shank portion are rounded to define an arcuate transition between the front and rear faces and the side walls wherein the arcuate transitions provide for a reduction in stresses exerted on a hoof wall when a nail is inserted therein. In addition, the upper shank portion is provided with sharp edges or corners to provide a full width cross section for a portion of the nail in contact with the horseshoe at the junction between the horseshoe and the hoof to provide increased resistance to shearing forces.

Abstract: A coupling system couples an implement to a utility vehicle, such as an agricultural or industrial vehicle, and includes a vehicle-mounted coupling frame and an implement-mounted coupling frame. The position of the vehicle-mounted coupling frame is adjustable by an adjustment mechanism. A position sensor senses the position of the implement-mounted coupling frame. An analysis unit determines the position of the implement-mounted coupling frame relative to the vehicle-mounted coupling frame. A control unit calculates a coupling motion path of the vehicle-mounted coupling frame. In response to a starting signal, the control unit causes the adjusting mechanism to move the vehicle-mounted coupling frame along the coupling motion path.
