Patent number: RE38190Abstract: This single-actuator-and-cam, remotely adjustable, exterior vehicle rear-view mirror provides the driver with glare-free viewing toward the rear of the vehicle, by switching between a high-reflectivity position and a low-reflectivity position at the same view adjustment. The exterior rear-view mirrors are repositioned with only a single motor working with a rotary cam to scan all possible mirror positions. The single-motor mechanism increases the reliability of the mirror system. The single motor accomplishes both the directional alignment and the day/night reflectivity adjustment of the mirror by use of a cam which has positions for all predicted view positions, with two reflectivity positions for each view. This invention works equally well with flat wedge mirrors and wide-angle convex wedge mirrors.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 2001Date of Patent: July 22, 2003Assignee: Anvik CorporationInventors: Kanti Jain, Marc Zemel, Nestor O. Patent number: RE38193Abstract: The present apparatus comprises a lens body of conventional soft contact lens composition, having a generally spherical concave back surface adapted to fit the cornea of the eye, and a generally convex front surface. The lens preferably includes a prism ballast to ensure correct orientation. The lens of the present invention is made of opaque or other substances which generally do not transmit light. In the process, the eye is mapped with a conventional field test to determine the diseased portion of the eye and those portions of the eye having optical perception. Through the lens surface, circular channels or “pinholes” which traverse the entire thickness of the lens are placed in an area which maps and therefore corresponds to the portion of the retina having optical perception. Light incident on the underlying portion of the retina having optical perception through the pinholes provides improved vision. These pinholes can be made in the form of channels.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 2000Date of Patent: July 22, 2003Inventor: Patricia J. Bowling

Patent number: RE38194Abstract: A liquid crystal panel unit is provided on the light incident face of a prism combining body. The unit has a light valve frame plate for holding a liquid crystal panel and a fixing frame plate fixed onto the light incident face with an adhesive layer. The light valve frame plate is screwed onto the fixing frame plate with a medial frame therebetween. By using wedge members, by adjusting the position of the light valve frame plate on the light incident face, it is possible to precisely position and fix the liquid crystal panel which is held there so that it is possible to control the shifted amount of the pixel alignment and precisely adjust the focus. Thus, it is possible to easily improve the accuracy. Furthermore, the fixing frame plate and the light valve frame plate are composed of materials having linear expansion coefficients ranging from ¼ to four times that of the prism combining body and from ⅕ to five times that of the fixing frame plate, respectively.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 2002Date of Patent: July 22, 2003Assignee: Seiko Epson CorporationInventors: Kazuyuki Iinuma, Motoyuki Fujimori, Kazuto Shinohara, Masashi Kitabayashi
