  • Patent number: 6604929
Abstract: A cutting mechanism for cutting fibers entrained within a viscous flow is herein disclosed. The present invention is typically part of a system for preparing fiber reinforced molding materials that comprises a viscous entrainment compounding device for compounding a continuous strand of reinforcing fiber with a molding material in a predetermined ratio. The entrained fibers are conveyed to the cutting mechanism which cuts the continuous strand of reinforcing fibers into predetermined lengths and conveys the fiber reinforced molding material to an output device. The cutting mechanism itself comprises a housing having a bore with an inlet and an outlet and a bed knife disposed therein. The bed knife has an inlet channel formed therethrough that is aligned with the gullets of a rotating cutter such that the gullets of the rotating cutter are rotated past the inlet channel of the bed knife in substantial alignment therewith.

  • Patent number: 6604930
Abstract: A molding machine for a concrete mix includes a frame with a vibratible mold having a vertical through cavity with hollow cores extending downwardly in the mold cavity. A pallet receiver with a pallet thereon is movable upwardly to close the bottom of the cavity. Core tops have openings therein and ventilation pins are receivable to block air passage through the core top openings when the pallet is in mold closing position. Cups with bottom openings are in the cores below the top openings to receive and guide the pins and passageways around the pins permit suction-braking air to move past the pins to the cup bottom openings when the pins move downwardly away from the core top openings.

  • Patent number: 6604931
Abstract: A rotational molding oven for forming an object from a mold containing resin therein. The oven includes a cavity receiving the mold therein and a combustion chamber for providing heat inside of the cavity. A spool is rotatively positioned within the cavity, the sides of which spool substantially form the sides of the cavity, and a drive tube engages the mold and extends between first and second flanged disks of the spool. A first motor is positioned outside the cavity and rotates the spool and a second motor is positioned outside the cavity and rotates the mold within the spool. Heat in the cavity melts the resin within the mold and rotating the spool and mold by the first and second motors causes the melted resin to be evenly distributed throughout the mold. The drive tube may be selectively positioned at a peripheral edge or at a center of the spool.

  • Patent number: 6604935
Abstract: A double row molding apparatus provides greatly increased production of food patty molding machines. The apparatus comprises a mold plate having front and back cavities in longitudinal and transverse alignment. When the mold plate is at a retracted position, front and back fill slots enable flow of the food product from a manifold simultaneously to all the cavities. At an extended position, all the patties are ejected simultaneously by a knockout mechanism. The front and back fill slots may be either one long fill slot, or multiple short fill slots in communication with respective mold plate cavities. In a modified embodiment, a single fill slot communicates only with the back cavities when the mold plate is in its retracted position. As the mold plate advances toward its extended position, the row of back cavities passes over the fill slot and enables the food product to flow into the back cavities.

  • Patent number: 6604940
Abstract: A method for mounting a wick within a wick sustainer is disclosed. The sustainer has a base, a barrel and a passage that extends through the sustainer. The passage has an upper region occupied by the wick and a lower region occupied, at least partially, by the sealant. Sealing the lower region of the passage is accomplished by injecting the sealant into the passage, thereby preventing the fuel from contacting the portion of the wick that is retained in the upper region of the passage. Fuel reaches the flame of the burning wick only through the portion of wick not held in the sustainer, so the flame is extinguished once the fuel descends below the top of the sustainer.

  • Patent number: 6604945
Abstract: The invention is a method and apparatus for embedding an implant of a special design in bone tissue in a way that encourages bone tissue growth in and around the implant thereby achieving greater attachment security over longer periods of time. The user employs a bone-fragment collecting drill to form the bone-tissue hole and deliver the resulting bone fragments to a collecting region. The user crumbles the bone fragments by placing them in the lower of two mating spoon-shaped jaws of a pliers-like device and repeatedly opening and closing the jaws until the bone fragments are crumbled. The surface of the implant is equipped with one or more embedded helical channels and through-holes to permit bone growth into the implant. The installation of the implant consists of partially filling the bone-tissue hole with bone crumbs, packing the helical channels and through-holes with bone crumbs, and installing the implant in the bone-tissue hole.

The spacing (17) between the signal pin and return conductor is by means of a non-conductive plastic polymer or similar material, such material also assisting to engage the return conductor against the outside casing of the RCA socket. By reducing the amount of conductive metal material used in the return conductor of a typical RCA plug i.e. by using a pin-like return conductor rather than a cylindrical conductive band and associated support body, the present invention reduces inductive, capacitive and eddy current distortion and offers improved signal transmission.

  • Patent number: 6604970
Abstract: A production method of an insulating layer includes a step of forming a first wire, a step of forming an insulating layer as a stack of M layers by repeatedly carrying out steps of laying and baking an insulating material on the first wire M times (M is an integer satisfying M≧3), and a step of forming a second wire on the insulating layer. An N-th insulating material used in formation of the N-th insulating layer (N is an integer satisfying 2≦N≦M−1) is baked at a temperature lower than a softening point of the N-th insulating material, and baking temperatures in formation of the (N+1)th to the M-th insulating layers are not more than the baking temperature in formation of the N-th insulating layer.

  • Patent number: 6604971
Abstract: A method of manufacturing an LED lamp includes dispersing color correction particles throughout a suspension media to a viscosity of substantially 2000 cP. In the case of correcting blue GaN LEDs to white light, the particles to be blended are phosphorus having a diameter of less than 20 microns. An LED die is mounted onto a stage and a nano-liter pipette is arranged such that an interface separation of approximately 1 millimeter is achieved between the tip of the pipette and the surface of the LED die. Once the relatively viscous suspension media covers the LED die, ultraviolet light is directed towards the suspension media to cure it. Heat is then applied to further cure the suspension media until solid as observed under a microscope.

  • Patent number: 6604973
Abstract: In an anode-side assembling process, a first end of a glass tube is fused to a rearward end of an electrode bar secured to an anode-side lead to produce a primary sealed product. In a cathode-side assembling process, a ring-shaped cathode is secured by caulking to a forward end portion of an electrode bar secured to a forward end of a cathode-side lead to produce a cathode member. In an assembling process, a second end of the glass tube of the primary sealed product is fused to a rearward end of the electrode bar secured to the cathode-side lead of the cathode member to produce a xenon discharge tube. A trigger electrode, which is composed of a transparent conductive film, is formed on a surface of the glass tube so that the light-transmissive sealed tube-coating ratio specified by the transparent conductive film is within a range of 5 to 30%.
