  • Patent number: 6609286
Abstract: A part is manufactured from a composite material containing an aluminum alloy as a metal matrix. Blanks are prepared from a billet of the composite material, and worked on in a press, while they are held at a temperature ranging from the solidus temperature, Ta, of the aluminum alloy minus 50 (Ta−50) deg. C. to Ta deg. C. At a temperature below (Ta−50), the blanks have too high a resistance to plastic deformation to be easily worked on. At a temperature over Ta, a liquid phase is produced and makes the blanks likely to crack easily during plastic deformation.

  • Patent number: 6609297
Abstract: A board 20 is provided with a Cu film 30 as a conformal mask, in which are formed a register mark 30b and an opening 3a through which a via hole is formed. A camera senses this register mark 30b so that the position of the board 30 is determined. A laser beam is directed to the approximate position of the opening 30a, so that the opening 26a through which the via hole is drilled is formed. The accuracy of the position of the opening of the via hole depends on the accuracy of the position of the opening 30a in the Cu film 30 as the conformal mask. Therefore, the via hole can be formed at an adequate position despite the low accuracy of the position for laser irradiation.

  • Patent number: 6609299
Abstract: An improved connecting rod assembly and method for making a connecting rod wherein the installation of the bearing sleeve members in the large bearing end of the connecting rod is improved. The connecting rod is forged, and then notches are cut in the large bearing end to define a separation plane about which the large bearing end is subsequently separated to form a cap member and a body member. Sleeve bearing members are inserted into the cap member and body member. Free ends of the sleeve bearing members project beyond associated surfaces of the cap and body members a predetermined distance. Upon compressive re-attachment of the cap member to the body member, the free ends of the bearing members are compressed and deformed to provide protrusions that extend into the notch. The protrusions help to prevent rotation of the bearing members relative to the bearing housing.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a revolver, where headspace is achieved differently and separately from the barrel, where [a cartridge is placed in the cylinder] and where that headspace is a function of caliber and varies per caliber/cylinder. The system of the present invention links a unique barrel and cylinder relationship so that each may be exchanged with the other set on the same frame. A tension ring is used to threadedly engage the interchangeable barrel relative to the interchangeable cylinder and revolver frame such that the predetermined headspace is preserved. And all being fit to differing headspace points within the single revolver frame. Each could be numbered so that confusion of which cylinder with which barrel be reduced.

Abstract: A feature or provision specifically to aid in aligning the vertical and horizontal reticules with respect to the vertical and horizontal axes of the bore during the installation of a telescopic sight (scope) on a firearm which includes at least one mounting boss for securing the telescopic sight. This feature also provides a means of verification that the installed position has not changed during use, and a reference which will allow the scope to be returned to its original calibrated position should it need to be temporarily removed from its mount. This feature is an indexing system. It consists of markings on the scope body, which, when aligned with corresponding marks on the mounting hardware provide a quick, accurate, inexpensive, simple, and intuitive method of properly aligning the scope's vertical and horizontal axes with those of the firearm's bore during installation; and verification of that alignment thereafter without the use of accessory apparatus.

  • Patent number: 6609328
Abstract: An electronic animal trap incorporating an inclined plane trap assembly is capable to preclude an animal on the tilting floor member of the trap assembly from engaging the top and/or side edges of the door member of the trap assembly in an attempt to escape from the trap by pulling the door member down to thereby unblock access to the entrance opening. An electronic circuit is connected to a bottom plate so that when animal's weight causes the inclined ramp to lower and contact the bottom plate the circuit is completed and the animal receives a charge of sufficient power to cause electrocution. A plastic version of the electronic animal trap assembly enables many of the structural elements to be economically manufactured and easily assembled.
