Abstract: Disclosed is an improved, chemically-amplifying positive resist composition for radiations, especially UV rays, deep-UV rays, excimer laser beams, X-rays, electron beams. The composition comprises (A) a resin component whose solubility in an alkaline aqueous solution is increased by the action of acids, (B) a chemical compound which generates an acid when exposed to radiations, and (C) an organic carboxylic acid compound and (D) an amine, in which said resin component (A) is a mixture comprising (a) a polyhydroxystyrene having a weight-average molecular weight of from 8,000 to 25,000 and a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) of 1.

Abstract: An underarm perspiration pad having a length portion of an upper edge connected between opposite selectively sized triangular shapes, wherein the selected size of each triangular shape in the underarm site of use of the perspiration pad is of an extent that it is readily observable above the edge of a sleeveless garment arm opening, and the observed portions of the triangular shapes are trimmed preparatory to removal along lines of perforations so as to minimize cognitive awareness of the use of the perspiration pad.

Abstract: Athletic gloves used by a person when operating a bicycle include a plurality of three-layer palm pads that are glued to a plurality of spaced positions on the palm of each glove without the use of stitching and the like. Each of the palm pads is formed of a three-layer assembly, i.e. a relatively thin heat-activated adhesive layer, a relatively thick and intermediate synthetic foam layer, and a relatively thin synthetic leather layer. Prior to assembly of a three-layer palm pad onto the palm of a glove, each of the three layers of the palm pad assembly is of a uniform thickness. A heat press having a pattern of downward-extending metal line areas, including one metal line area that matches and completely encircles the circumferential edge of each palm pad, operates to press each palm pad down onto the palm of the glove.

Abstract: A method of multiple dipping to make gloves with a clear wrist portion, which allows glove wearers to see through the transparent wrist portion and tell time with the gloves on, is disclosed. The method is applicable to all the common materials to make gloves, or coat gloves, via dipping: including natural rubber latex, nitrile rubber latex(carboxylated or non-carboxylated), polychloroprene latex, polyisoprene latex, polyurethane latex, polyvinyl chloride and their blends, or mixtures thereof. The invention provides procedures to make compounds, which are both transparent and opaque, as well as dipping sequences for the materials. Products, with the added feature of a transparent wrist portion, are provided without sacrificing performance and without increasing production cost.

Abstract: A pants hem guard, for attachment to a shoe, having a frame with a U-shaped inner portion and a U-shaped outer portion, and a clip insert attached to the outer portion of the frame. The outer portion has two ends attached to a rear surface of the clip insert. A pair of horizontal members connect the inner and outer portions so that the frame is one continuous piece. The guard is attached to the back portion of a shoe, with the clip insert remaining on the outside of the shoe just above the shoe heel. A pants hem is tucked behind the clip insert and keeps the hem above the shoe heel.

Abstract: An item of clothing the width of a component part of which can be adjusted by the user, the clothing item having a line or cord (1) at least partly encircling the relevant part, which cord can be pulled by the wearer to adjust the width or tightness of the part by means of gathering of the material of the part around the line or cord. For the part of the circumference of the relevant part the cord is concealed under the material but emerges at a desired point and them passes again to the inside of the item of clothing so as to form a cord pull section (6) on the inside of the clothing. The clothing item includes means (5) for holding the component part in its tightened or gathered condition about the cord, the cord pull section (6) being used by the wearer for adjustment of the width of the relevant part.

Abstract: Automatic flushing, lid raising and seat raising arrangements for toilets include a tank top having optical sensors integral therewith so that standard flush tanks and tops may be used with only the tops being slightly altered to accommodate the optical sensors. The flushing arrangement is readily mountable on standard overflow pipes and provides automatic flushing while also allowing manual flushing. The lid and seat raising and lowering actuators are arranged in a single unit readily attachable to a standard toilet bowl using substantially standard lids and seats.

Abstract: A bidet, with separate units for washing one's anal region, pudendal region and oral cavity, is disclosed. In the bidet, a control box is attached to a side portion of a toilet bowl and is used for controlling the bidet. An anal washing unit is positioned inside a rear portion of the toilet bowl and is connected to the control box. A hand-operated pudendal washing unit is movably held on the front portion of the control box and is connected to the control box through a hose. A hand-operated mouth washing unit is connected to the control box through a hose capable of allowing the mouth washing unit to reach a desired position remote from the toilet bowl. The bidet is selectively used with a conventional electric hot-water supply system or existing hot and cold water supply pipes installed in a toilet.

Abstract: A vacuum tank assembly includes a vacuum tank that has a low profile and will fit in small, and particularly low height, compartments of a boat or RV. The tank is connected to a vacuum toilet and a vacuum pump during use. The tank preferably has a generally rectangular prism configuration, and has a front surface in which openings for receipt of a dip tube assembly, sewage inlet (from the toilet), and vacuum switch are provided. The dip tube assembly includes an adaptor operatively connected to the vacuum pump and an evacuator component which has a generally tubular configuration and a substantially flat open bottom closely overlying the bottom interior of the tank. A locator tab cooperates with a cut out in the tank front surface to properly position the evacuator open bottom adjacent the tank bottom.

Abstract: A removable swimming pool border for use with a swimming pool having a sidewall and a pool liner includes a flexible facestock layer made of polymeric material. The facestock layer has design indicia on one side thereof. A pressure sensitive adhesive layer is located on the second side of the facestock opposite the design indicia side for removably attaching the swimming pool border to the pool liner of the swimming pool. A removable liner layer is attached to the surface of the pressure sensitive adhesive layer for protecting the pressure sensitive adhesive layer prior to use. The swimming pool border is adhesively attached to the pool liner by the pressure sensitive adhesive layer when the swimming pool border is in use. The swimming pool border is removably attached to the pool liner along a top inner edge of the swimming pool such that the water level of the swimming pool lies along the height of the swimming pool border when the swimming pool border is in use.

Abstract: A lightweight insulated cover which may be easily installed and removed from an above ground spa has a top section and four side walls coupled to the top section. The top section and the four side walls comprised of an insulated layer, and a second layer coupled to a front and back surface of the insulated layer for protecting the insulated layer from moisture generated from the above ground spa and external weather conditions.

Abstract: A new and improved apparatus is disclosed for rolling up and laying out a solar pool cover over a pool. The apparatus comprises a two support frames, two reel supports, and a reel shaft that is mounted atop the two support frames. The two support frames are located opposite one another across the width of the pool. The solar pool cover is wound around the reel shaft. The reel shaft is hooked up to a motor which is atop one of the support frames.

Abstract: The invention is a foot washer comprising; a coupler valve capable of attachment to a shower outlet, a main hose coupled with the coupler valve to allow feeding of water from the coupler valve through the main hose, a hollow frame capable of receiving a flow of water from a main hose, one or more nozzles capable of spraying water from the hollow frame, whereby a user placing a foot near the frame can receive a foot washing.

Abstract: A shower door assembly includes a swingable door panel mounted to a stationary side enclosure panel by a pair of hinge assemblies that are transversely adjustable to correct for out-of-plumb conditions. The hinge assemblies include pocketed stationary hinges capping the ends of the side panel and moveable hinges mounted to the door panel in a slidable slot and pin connection. The side panel is mountable to an enclosure wall by an upright wall jamb defining a track in which can slide a jamb pin disposed through the side panel. The wall jamb is shorter than the side panel and mounts accessory attachments at its upper end, such as a robe hook and a razor holder.

Abstract: A controlling device for a showerhead with a body includes a push rod, a controlling valve and a collar. The push rod is movably mounted in the showerhead body. The controlling valve is hollow to allow accommodate the push rod and has a first opening, a second opening communicating with the first opening and an radial hole radially defined in a side face of the controlling valve to communicate with both the first opening and the second passage. The collar is adapted to connect to the showerhead body and has a neck. The push rod extends through the controlling valve and the collar and has a head selectively received in the first opening to block communication between the main passage and the first opening so that water is able to selectively flow out of the showerhead body via the first outlet.

Abstract: A waste disposer assist tool for automatically feeding waste food contained within the housing of a standard kitchen electric food disposer and for spraying liquid soap. The tool includes a hollow handle and a piston which screw together through a central hole of a flexible plunger. The plunger is held between respective flanges ofthe handle and the piston with the piston slightly protruding from within the plunger. The tool is positioned over the opening of the sink above the garbage disposer with the piston fitted within and in a substantially air-tight seal with the interior of the housing of the disposer unit. The plunger fits in a substantially air-tight seal against the bottom interior of the sink. The slight vacuum created by the outflow of ground food waste and water by the garbage disposer blades below the piston causes the higher ambient pressure against the upper side of the plunger to force the piston downward against he waste food in an automatic feed fashion.

Decorative patterns on the outer surface of the fabric container and pocket recesses in either the fabric or the panel or both, enhance the functions of the headboard for visual appeal and for the convenience of a user of the bed.

The invention is preferably comprised of spaced support members supporting a horizontal base member at an elevated position high enough to accommodate the seat portion of a wheelchair beneath the base member. There is at least one side panel surrounding the base member slidable laterally between a closed and open position to enable a person seated in a wheelchair to have access to an infant placed on the base member when the slide panel is in the open position. A drawer member is positioned under the base member to allow a person seated in a wheelchair to have access to any necessary items.

Abstract: A sleep protector for preventing crib deaths. The sleep protector is cooperable with conventional cribs or beds, and is made up of a series of interconnected pipe members forming a support structure. The structure of the sleep protector is characterized as having a grid-like base configuration featuring a number of upstanding supports along each side, and a further grid at the head and foot of the grid work.

Abstract: A portable bed includes a main part and support members. The main part consists of two pairs of parallel rods for supporting a cloth. The support members are connected to the main part and provide support therefore. The support members each have pivotally connected leg elements so that they can be moved to cross-legged, in use position to support the main part. The support members are each provided with strengthening elements to stand more stably. The strengthening elements each include a strengthening rod, a limiting member, and a slide. One end of the strengthening rod is pivoted to a corresponding limiting member, which is affixed to a corresponding leg element. An opposing end of the strengthening rod is pivoted to a corresponding slide capable of sliding along the other leg element.

Abstract: A generally impermeable mattress cover having expandable sidewalls is provided to enclose a mattress to provide protection against allergens, dust mites, fluids, and other spills and spoils. The cover comprises generally impermeable top and bottom walls, and sidewalls connected at edges between the top and bottom walls. The sidewalls are formed of a double wall construction comprising a generally impermeable inner wall of a fixed height joined at edges to an elastic outer wall. The outer wall stretches and the inner wall extends to accommodate mattresses of different thicknesses. The outer wall can be relaxed and the inner wall retained neatly against the mattress and by the outer wall. An aperture can be provided in the bottom wall for allowing insertion and removal of a mattress and a fastener can be used to close the aperture.

The batting layer is positioned between the quilt and a top side of the comforter. Alternatively, the quilt may be unfinished, not including a batting layer. The comforter includes a top layer and a bottom layer each formed of a material selected from at least one of cotton, polyester-cotton blend, and remy-cotton blend. The quilt is formed of a material selected from at least one of wool, cotton, linen-cotton blend, and remy-cotton blend. The comforter also includes a middle layer preferably formed of at least one of down, a feather and down blend, and a down-cotton blend.

Abstract: An inflatable mattress includes an upper mattress body defining several upper chambers that are in fluid communication with one another, and has a bottom wall formed with a first hole which is fluid communication with an adjacent one of the upper chambers. A lower mattress body is disposed below the upper mattress body, defines several lower chambers that are in fluid communication with one another, and has a top wall formed with a second hole which is in fluid communication with an adjacent one of the lower chambers. The periphery of the second hole is integrally connected to the periphery of the first hole so as to permit adjoining of the first and second holes, thereby permitting fluid communication of the upper chambers with the lower chambers via the first and second holes.

Abstract: A wire-stripping tool that has a pair or more of cutters sized for one gauge of wire. For example, instead of be able to strip 18, 16, 14, 12, and 10 gauges of wire, the device has cutters that strip 18, 12, 12, and 10 gauges of wire. Other variations include designs that can strip up to four wires of the same gauge. With this tool, a user can place two or more wires into the cutters and strip them at the same time. The number of bending holes can be increased to coincide with the number of wires capable of being stripped simultaneously. Slots may also be added instead of, or in conjunction with, the bending holes. Specific strippers can be designed for specific combinations of wire sizes and cables. In this way, the labor required to prepare wires can be cut down significantly.

For opening tear-open lids, a pull-ring is captured within an attachment recess on a pull hook inner edge. When pivoting the grip-like body the pull hook rolls along a rolling back of the pull hook, on the can lid and pulls up.

Abstract: A drawer-type washing machine and process of washing laundry using the washing machine is disclosed. The washing machine has a housing opened at its front to form a cavity. A cabinet, opened at its top, is received in the cavity of the housing such that the cabinet is movable forward or backward relative to the housing. A washing tub unit, consisting of an outer tub and an inner tub, is set within the cabinet. This washing tub unit contains washing water therein, and carries out both a washing operation and a spin-drying operation for laundry contained therein. A drive unit is installed at a position under the outer tub of the washing tub unit, and rotates the inner tub of the washing tub unit. A suspension unit supports the washing tub unit within the cabinet while performing a damping function of attenuating operational vibrations of the washing tub unit.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a simple mechanical dual stage pressure control for a cleaning head operatively coupled to a cleaning vehicle for engaging a surface to be cleaned and to methods of engaging and using such a dual stage pressure control to perform surface cleaning, surface maintenance, surface conditioning and the like. While the present invention is described and depicted primarily with reference to a cleaning head having dual rotary scrubbing brushes, the present invention finds diverse application in the art of surface cleaning, maintenance, conditioning and the like. Accordingly, the present invention is readily adaptable to cleaning heads having one or more of the following applications, including without limitation, such cleaning heads designed and adapted to: burnish, polish, scrub, sweep, brush, treat and wipe a surface to be cleaned wherein an increased downforce is beneficially selectively applied to such cleaning head to increase the efficacy of such cleaning head.

Abstract: A rotary drum release assembly includes a multiple of lock pins which engage a rotary drum shaft to lock and unlock a rotary drum to a drain cleaning machine without the need for tools. The rotary drum release assembly is mounted within a support frame assembly. A rotary drum shaft groove is located within a sleeve mounted to the support frame assembly to minimize localized weakening of the shaft. Rotation of an actuating handle engages cam surfaces with the lock pins to overcome their spring bias of the lock pins and simultaneously drive the lock pins away from the shaft to allow release of the drum. To mount the drum, the drum shaft is pushed into the sleeve and the lock pins are received into the shaft groove.

Abstract: A socket latch drum release assembly includes a shaft release coupling which telescopically engages a rotary drum shaft to selectively lock and unlock a rotary drum of a drain cleaning machine without the necessity of tools. The shaft release coupling includes a polygonal shaped distal end which corresponds with a polygonal opening in the removable drum shaft. At least one of the plurality of faces which form the polygonal shaped distal end includes a retractable engagement member which corresponds to a recess located in each face of the polygonal opening. The drum shaft is directed into the sleeve from one side and the shaft release coupling is engaged with the shaft on the opposite side of the sleeve. Engagement between a radially extending flange of the shaft release coupling and the end of the shaft rotatably locks the rotary drum shaft into the sleeve.

Abstract: A hairbrush includes a flexible pad body formed integrally from a flexible material, and a plurality of bristles, each having an enlarged head portion retained on the pad body at a respective one of bristle-retention blind holes in the pad body. The top surface of the pad body is formed with a groove unit to form a spacing between the enlarged head portions of adjacent ones of the bristles in at least a transverse direction transverse to a longitudinal direction of the pad body.

Abstract: The invention relates to a scraping tool for removal of a coating on a surface. The tool has a plate with a first scraping edge that is a straight outer edge of the plate. The plate has an inner part with a slit defined therein to form a tongue-like element. The element has a straight edge and is bendable when in use. The edge is a second scraping edge that may bear against the surface substantially parallel to the first scraping edge for simultaneous scraping of the surface. This provides a more powerful scraping effect.

In one embodiment, the wiper comprises first and second substantially parallel wiper blades (26, 28), each having wiping faces (26c, 28c) in contact with a surface S and defining therebetween a channel (30). The blades (26, 28) have formations thereon, such as notches (34,36) dimensioned and configured to permit passage of water through first blade (26) to the channel (30) when the first blade (26) is moving in a first direction and to prevent passage of water through notches (34) when the first blade is moving in a second direction opposite to the first direction. The second blade (28) formations, e.g., notches (34) permit water to pass through the formations when the second blade (28) is moving in the second direction and to prevent passage of water therethrough when the second blade is moving in the first direction. Water trapped within channel (30) will then be diverted out the ends of the channel.

Abstract: Apparatus for cleaning a curved surface by employing the cloth principle, the apparatus having a roll for unsoiled cloth with unused cleaning cloth thereon, a roll for soiled cloth for taking up used soiled cloth, a pressing element for pulling unsoiled cleaning cloth off the roll for unoiled cloth and to bring it in contact with a surface to be cleaned by a movement of the element toward the surface, and means for pulling cleaning cloth off the roll for unsoiled cloth and for rolling soiled cloth up on the roll for soiled cloth by rolling up a part of the cleaning cloth that is longer or equal to the part thereof that is removed by the pressing element from the roll for unsoiled cloth independently of the respective diameters of the rolls for soiled and unsoiled cloth.

Thus, broom state, broom height, and broom direction command modules are all logically connected to a command input module. Similarly, blower state (blower on/off) and direction (blower left/right) modules are also logically connected to the command input module. The method of the invention for operating a broom and a blower includes the steps of receiving a command input, measuring the duration of the command input, and determining whether the command input is a broom state command, a broom height command, a broom direction command, a blower state command, or a blower direction command. If the command is one which requires selection of an intermediate position, then the command is followed as long as the command is entered.

Abstract: An animal waste vacuum having a main body mounted upon wheels and a handle to maneuver vacuum's nozzle opening and intake tube over animal excrement. A vacuum motor creates suction and draws animal excrement through a nozzle opening and up an intake tube into a waste bag. A waste bag, in which the animal excrement is collected, prevents animal waste from contacting any component of the vacuum. A plastic tubing dispenser ring fits over the intake tube and contains thin plastic tubing that acts as a liner in the intake tube during use. The liner prevents animal excrement from contacting the interior of the intake tube during use. Alternative liners, such as common plastic grocery bags, may also be used. The waste bag and intake tube are accessible through a removable lid. The intake tube is removable and easy to clean. The animal waste vacuum is used from a standing position.

The door closer assembly comprises a housing, a rotor journalled in said housing to deliver torque, and at least one piston apparatus, wherein said housing, said rotor, and said at least one piston apparatus are comprised of the same material of construction and exhibit at least substantially the same thermal expansion coefficient.

Abstract: A carrier hinge assembly is used to suspend adjacent hinged panels from a track. The assembly has a carriage which travels along the track, and a hinge dependent from the carriage. The hinge is formed by a hinge pin having an upper portion threaded into a boss on the carriage, and hinge leaves which are pivotable about the hinge pin. The hinge leaves are fixed, in use, to opposing edge faces of the panels. The height of the panels may be adjusted by rotation of the hinge pin. A locking mechanism includes a retractable lock tongue located in an axial slot in a stop at the bottom of the hinge pin. The lock tongue is biased by spring to engage an axial slot in hinge leaf, to key the hinge pin to the hinge leaf and prevent relative rotation.

Abstract: A hinge device of a foldable electronic appliance having a sub-body rotatably mounted by the hinge device to a main body. The hinge device having a hinge shaft with one end fixedly mounted to the sub-body and a second end rotatably mounted to the main body. A fixed disk having a notch therein and a protrusion continued from the notch and extending from one face thereof, the fixed disk being in a fixed relationship to the main body. A movable disk having a protrusion extending from a face thereof to contact with the one face of the fixed disk when opening the sub-body or to engage the notch in the fixed disk when the sub-body is fully closed. A projection extending from the movable disk to limit the rotation of the hinge shaft. A spring washer for axially pressing the movable disk toward the fixed disk, and a nut for fixing the fixed disk, the movable disk and the spring washer to the second end of the hinge shaft.

Abstract: In a multi-link hinge assembly for a rear deck lid or front hood for an automobile, a torsional coil spring is mounted with its coil coaxial to or proximate to a pivotal connection of the hinge assembly with arms of the coil spring engaging members of the hinge assembly to bias them for pivoting about the pivotal connection. The torsional coil spring provides enhanced “pop-up” of the lid or hood on initial unlocking and can reduce the need for or size of a primary biasing mechanism to assist in opening the lid or hood.

Abstract: A handle holder for mounting a U-shaped handle to an operating pole of a bush cutting machine. The handle holder has a first holding member and a second holding member. The first holding member has an operating pole insertion hole for insertion of the operating pole therethrough, an oblique groove, and a handle receiving groove for receiving the base of the handle. The second holding member has a wedge and a handle retaining groove. The wedge is fitted into the groove of the first holding member to fix the first holding member to the operating pole. The handle is interposed and held between the handle receiving groove of the first holding member and the handle retaining groove of the second holding member to be fixed to the first holding member.

Abstract: A device 10 for securing a lighting apparatus 11 to a paintball mask to promote night paintball includes a base member 12, a light support member 14 extending forward from an upper portion of the base member 12, a light positioning member 16 extending forward from a lower portion of the base member 12, the light support and light positioning members 14 and 16 cooperating to secure and position the lighting apparatus 11 with the base member 12 to focus light in a predetermined direction, a stabilizing clip 18 extending rearward from a lower portion of the base member 12, and a pair of apertures 20 disposed through opposing upper portions of the base member 12, the apertures 20 ultimately receiving therethough a support belt 72 that cooperates with the stabilizing clip 18 to maintain the position of the device 10 relative to the paintball mask during play of a night paintball game.

Abstract: Safety glasses holders and eye glass holders for securing to safety hats or fabric comprising a clip on design and a nonremovable fastening design, wherein the fastening design in one embodiment comprises a removeable frame secured to the sides of a safety hat; and in the second embodiment, a nonremoveable design which may be either a first and second elastic cord or pin penetrating the hat and secured to the frame, and a strip disposed between the first and second elastic cords or pins for holding the arm of a pair of safety glasses or, in a second embodiment of the permanently fixed holder, comprises a planar member attached to the safety hat by a spring which serves to hold the clip in place and provide a securing force to engage the arm of a pair of eyeglasses between the clip and safety hat.
