  • Publication number: 20030183105
Abstract: A process is provided for obtaining or refreshing the illustration of a printing form, preferably in wet-offset printing. Instead of clearing the illustration over the entire area, the printing form is acted on during the production. For this, a processing agent can act on the printing form in different areas for images. A processing agent preferably acts over the entire area of the printing form, in which case the layer of ink located on the printing form leads to a locally different intensity of the action, corresponding to the illustration of the printing form. Photocatalytic effects are preferably used. A hydrophilization of non-image areas is brought about by irradiation in the presence of water molecules. Since printing ink containing little water lies on the image areas, hydrophilization cannot occur on the image areas. Thus, in spite of the entire-area action on the printing form, an image-related refreshing or obtaining of the illustration is automatically achieved.

Abstract: The present disclosure suggests a method to remove well bore fluid from the path of a shaped-charge jet in order to reduce the effect it has on the jet tip. This most preferred embodiment uses a precursor liner and a primary liner both pressed in the same housing. In the most preferred embodiment, the primary liner is similar or equivalent to a standard big hole shaped charge liner. The precursor liner is pressed into the apex end of the primary liner and upon detonation is intended to form an initial very fast moving precursor jet to open a path through the fluid of the well bore annulus for the following primary jet. In the preferred embodiment the precursor liner is made from different material, preferably a less dense material and/or a material having a higher sound speed, than the material forming the primary liner.

Abstract: A less lethal ammunition round (10) includes a highly pliant projectile (24) that may impregnated with fine heavy particles. The projectile has an interior void (32) into which is placed a force transfer member (30) that engages an interior surface at the forward end of the projectile in front of the center of gravity. Upon ignition of a powder charge, a piston (26) in the cartridge chamber engages the transfer member which, in turn, elongates the projectile as the projectile forward end is driven, pulling the remainder of the projectile, reducing its diameter. This allows a release from the cartridge and passage through the barrel of the weapon from which it is being fired. Stabilizing fins (39) at the projectile base deploy as the projectile exits the muzzle. A breaching round is impregnated with a greater weight of heavy particles and its transfer member has an initial large diameter portion and a terminal smaller diameter portion.

Abstract: A sewing machine includes a needle plate having a needle hole through which a sewing needle is allowed to pass, a thread catcher reciprocally moved forward and backward below the needle plate and being elongated in a moving direction, the thread catcher having a frontward end with respect to a direction of forward movement of the thread catcher and including first and second generally hook-shaped catching portions, and a cutting blade located between the first and second catching portions at least during backward movement of the thread catcher to cut a thread caught between the first and second catching portions. The first catching portion is located nearer to the frontward end of the thread catcher than the second catching portion with respect to the moving direction of the thread catcher during forward movement of the thread catcher.

Abstract: A machine readable file is prepared for use in operating a print line that produces a layer of material having a series of panels printed thereon for quilting. The file includes information on the order in which panels are to be quilted, the amount of shrinkage that will occur to a panel during quilting and the amount of crop to be made between adjacent panels following quilting. Such information is placed, preferably printed, onto the material at the print line. Such information is readable by a sensor at a quilting station, which reads the information and controls a quilter to quilt in accordance with the information. Panels are then quilted in accordance with a schedule and in batches in a most efficient manner. A panel cutter is also controlled by information read from records on the material. Shrinkage is also compensated for and appropriate crops are made between panels.

Abstract: A fill level indicator assembly for an agricultural material bin such as a seed dispensing hopper. The assembly includes an elongate sighting member which provides a water impermeable cover over an indicator opening in the bin cover and has a transparent portion providing visual access to the interior of the sighting member. An indicator rod extends through the indicator opening and has a distinctive marking located near one end. The opposite end of the indicator member has a foot which engages the agricultural material within the bin. Gravity causes the indicator member to lower as the quantity of agricultural material within the bin is depleted. As the indicator member lowers, the distinctive marking within the sighting member is also lowered thereby providing a visual indication of the quantity of material remaining in the bin.
