  • Patent number: 6631819
Abstract: A baby bottle has a main body with an upper portion and a lower portion, and a neck provided with threads for removably attaching a standard nipple and collar thereto. An insulated structure of the main body includes an inner wall, an outer wall, and an air space between the walls for maintaining the liquid contents hotter or cooler for extended periods of time, while also preventing the formation of condensation on the outside of the bottle. Luminescent elements, such as shapes, letters or numbers, are applied to the outer surface of the inner wall to enhance visibility of the bottle and the level of the liquid contents in dark or low light conditions. In an alternative embodiment, the luminescent material is incorporated into the composition of the wall structure during the molding process. The lower portion of the main body is shaped for easy grasping by infants and toddlers.

  • Patent number: 6631825
Abstract: A product dispenser comprising a cover, a slidable push element, a base and a landing is provided. The cover and the base are rotatable with respect to each other about a common axis. The cover comprises a roof opening in which the push element slides in opposing directions, advancing product from the interior of the cover onto the landing. In a preferred embodiment, the dispenser houses miniature zinc air batteries, secured to the base using an adhesive layer. When a cell is advanced from the interior of the cover onto the landing, the cell is separated from the adhesive layer, allowing air to pass into the cell and the cell to be activated. The landing preferably comprises a magnet for releasably securing product. The dispenser is then used as an inserter for orienting and placing the product in position in a device. The product is not directly handled during its removal from the dispenser or during its insertion into a device.

  • Patent number: 6631851
Abstract: The present invention pertains to an improved nozzle, particularly for use in wear-resistant rotary atomizers, to atomizer wheels containing such improved nozzles and to a method for obtaining microspherical particles with a narrower particle size distribution when using such nozzles. The atomizer wheels and nozzles have at least the same wear resistance as those described in the prior art, but have been improved to provide microspherical particles with a very narrow particle size distribution. The nozzle of the present invention comprises a flow channel in the shape of a vertical slot that may be lined with wear-resistant sintered material. The vertical slot may be uniformly rounded. It was found that when these improved nozzles are used for spray-drying suspensions, microspherical particles with a narrower particle size distribution are obtained than when using nozzles with cylindrical flow channels.

  • Patent number: 6631853
Abstract: An oil activated fuel injector control valve which substantially eliminates captured air within working fluid of the fuel injector. This eliminates shot by shot variations in the fuel injector as well as increasing the efficiency of the fuel injector. The fuel injector includes a control valve body which has vent holes which prevent air from mixing with the working fluid. In this manner, the working fluid does not have to compress and/or dissolve the air in the working ports prior to acting on the piston and plunger mechanism in an intensifier body of the fuel injector.

  • Patent number: 6631854
Abstract: A fuel injector (1), especially an injector for fuel injection systems of internal combustion engines (51), has a piezoelectric or magnetostrictive actuator (14), a valve-closure member (8) that is actuated by an actuator (14) using a valve needle (9), the valve-closure member cooperating with a valve seat surface (7) to form a sealing seat, and having at least one spray-discharge opening (10, 11) that is sealed by the sealing seat. In this context, the valve seat surface (7) and/or the valve-closure member (8) has partial areas (30a, 30b) that are arranged so as to be offset on the circumference, the partial areas throttling a fuel flow to differing extents as a function of a stroke of the valve needle (9).

  • Patent number: 6631857
Abstract: Use of pump and line fuel injectors has become more common in fuel injection systems. While these fuel injectors do not typically include individual electrical actuators or fuel pressurization means, they still include a number of components that must be intricately machined in order for the fuel injector to perform as desired. The present invention is directed to reducing the number of machining steps, and therefore the cost, of producing such a fuel injector by utilizing a plastic component that can allow for a reliable and cost effective replacement of more intricately machined fuel injector components.

  • Patent number: 6631858
Abstract: A nozzle box includes first and second nozzle box halves which are bolted together. Each nozzle box half includes a nozzle ring segment that carries nozzles along its entire 180° arc, so that when the nozzle box halves are joined together a nozzle box is formed with no discontinuities of nozzles around its 360° circumference. The nozzles carried on each nozzle ring segment communicate with inlet ports, and associated passages which are perpendicular to the nozzle box exit plane.

  • Patent number: 6631859
Abstract: A showerhead with an internal valve to control the flow of fluid between a full flow and reduced flow condition so as to save energy and thereby conserve the supply of water. The showerhead includes an internal valve that operates easily between an off position and an on position to permit a controlled flow of water from an approximate flow of two and one half gallons per minute to a reduced flow of about one half gallon per minute. The internal valve is formed in a spherical configuration and swivels or rotates between a reduced flow position and a full flow on position; it has formed therein a relatively small by-pass aperture that serves to selectively maintain a predetermined, constant temperature flow of water for a person taking a shower.

  • Patent number: 6631860
Abstract: The guide member (1) for a liquid jet (30) to be deflected allows a liquid (3) after flowing out of a container (2) to be deflected onto a target (5; 7) which is located below the container. The deflecting takes place by means of a shaped material plate (10; 10a, 10b) which is arranged ahead of an outlet opening (20) of the container and which reshapes and further conducts the jet (30) in such a manner that the liquid is conveyed to the target at a lower end (17) of the shaped material plate. At the location ahead of the outlet opening (20), where the liquid jet (30) is incident onto the shaped material plate (10), a first and a second piece of surface (11 and 12 respectively) of the material plate form a mouth region (13) in which the first piece of surface (11) deflects the liquid (3) transversely with respect to the vertical, whereas the second piece of surface (12) is provided as a catcher for squirts. The first piece of surface merges into a channel (14) in which the liquid is guided downwards.

  • Patent number: 6631865
Abstract: A seat belt retractor operates in two distinct modes: a first, Emergency Locking Retractor (ELR), mode; and a second, Automatic Locking Retractor (ALR), mode. A toothed ratchet wheel is mounted to rotate with a spool that is biased in a seat belt webbing rewinding direction. A sensor detects an emergency condition of the vehicle. A vehicle acceleration sensor lever responsive to the sensor engages the ratchet wheel in the event of an emergency condition. The vehicle acceleration sensor lever performs two functions: it locks the retractor when the sensor detects accelerations and decelerations greater than a predetermined magnitude and it also prevents rotation of the spool in the seat belt webbing pay-out direction when operating in its second mode. A cam connected to the spool via a step-down gearing arrangement acts as a switch.
