  • Patent number: RE38273
Abstract: An RF probe for a plasma chamber picks up current and voltage samples of the RF power applied to an RF plasma chamber, and the RF voltage and current waveforms are supplied to respective mixers. A local oscillator supplies both mixers with a local oscillator signal at the RF frequency plus or minus about 15 KHz, so that the mixers provide respective voltage and current baseband signals that are frequency shifted down to the audio range. The phase relation to the applied current and voltage is preserved in the baseband signals. These baseband signals are then applied to a stereo, two-channel A/D converter, which provides a serial digital signal to a digital signal processor or DSP. A local oscillator interface brings a feedback signal from the DSP to the local oscillator. The DSP can be suitably programmed to obtain complex Fast Fourier Transforms of the voltage and current baseband samples.

  • Patent number: RE38274
Abstract: A variable frequency ring oscillator is controlled by a control signal and has an odd number of cascaded inverting gates. The inverting gates each have input terminals receiving an input signal. Except for the first of the cascaded inverting gates, each input signal on a gate is the output from the preceding inverting gate. The input terminal of the first of the inverting gates receives the output of the last of the inverting gates. At least one inverting gate is a cell having a gain variable as a function of a control signal. An output signal ext of the circuit is an inversion of an input signal inp and has a hysteresis that is a function of a control signal cont. The term “hysteresis” as used herein signifies, for example, a variable frequency signal remaining substantially in its current state for a certain length of time after which the variable frequency signal changes state with a magnitude that is a function of a control signal, upon change of state of an input signal.

  • Patent number: 6631543
Abstract: A method for creating a releasable joint between two components wherein one of the components is elastically deformed by radial compressive forces in such a way that one effective circumferential contour corresponds to the corresponding effective circumferential contour of the other component with a predefined clearance, and the two components are fitted together. After being fitted together, a compressive joint is created by the fact that the deformed component is elastically deformed back by reducing or discontinuing the radial compressive forces. What is used as the elastically deformable component is a hollow body which has multiple cavities in its wall, and the radial compressive forces are exerted on the inner or outer contour of the hollow body located opposite the effective circumferential contour in such a way that their working lines, considered in the circumferential direction, run approximately centeredly through the cavities.

  • Patent number: 6631546
Abstract: A method of manufacturing includes 2 mushroom plating process starts with an overplated component which includes an enlarged mushroom head having outer portions which overhang a resist layer. The next step in the first process embodiment is a heating step in which the resist layer is hard baked. Thereafter, using a dry etch process, such as a reactive ion etch (RIE) process, the hard baked resist layer is removed in all areas except beneath the overhang of the mushroom head. The area beneath the overhang thereby remains filled with hard baked resist. Thereafter, the device is ultimately encapsulated such that no voids and/or redeposition problems exist under the overhang due to the presence of the hard baked resist. In an alternative process embodiment of the present invention the dry etch process is conducted first upon the resist layer, such that the resist layer is removed in all areas except under the overhang. Thereafter, the device is baked, such that hard baked resist remains beneath the overhang.

  • Patent number: 6631551
Abstract: A process for forming stable integrated resistors (14) and capacitors (28) on organic substrates (12). The resistors (14) and capacitors (28) are capable of a wide range of resistance and capacitance values, yet can be processed in a manner that does not detrimentally effect the organic substrate (12) or entail complicated processing. The method generally entails the use of thick-film materials usually of the types used to form resistors and capacitors on ceramic substrates. The thick-film materials are applied to an electrically-conductive foil (20) and then heated to bond the thick-film material to the foil (20) and form a solid resistive or capacitive mass (16/30). The foil (20) is then laminated to an organic substrate (12), such that the resistive/capacitive mass (16/30) is attached to and preferably embedded in the organic substrate (12).

  • Patent number: 6631552
Abstract: An electronic component mounting apparatus uses sensors and a controller to correct the position at which a component holder, generally a suction nozzle, captures a component, thus avoiding component capture errors and failures. More specifically, sensors detect a deviation amount between a predetermined location on a component absorbed by a suction nozzle and the suction position of the suction nozzle. The deviation amount is multiplied by a sensitivity coefficient, and the resulting adjusted deviation amount is then applied by the controller to correct the position of the suction nozzle when capturing a subsequent component. Accordingly, the subsequent component is absorbed by the suction nozzle normal to the component and at a position substantially centered with respect to the component, reducing the occurrence of suction errors.

Abstract: A part mounting apparatus mounts a part, such as a film electronic part, accurately and efficiently on a substrate, such as a glass substrate. A measuring device (21) moves along the edges of a glass substrate (31) and measures the distance between the measuring device (21) and the glass substrate (31) at predetermined positions. The measuring device (21) gives measured data to a controller (22). The controller (22) determines the state of deformation of the glass substrate (31) on the basis of the measured data and controls suctions to be applied by suction pads (12) included in a substrate conveying unit (10) to the glass substrate (31) on the basis of the measured data. The glass substrate (31) being conveyed by the substrate conveying unit (10) receives downward suctions of the suction pads (12) and upward reaction forces of props (13).

Abstract: A method for laser drilling blind vias at multiple depths in a multilayer panel comprising forming a panel having a plurality of conductive layers and a plurality of dielectric layers interposed therebetween, a first relief in the first conductive layer, a second relief in a second conductive layer, and a blind pin in the third conductive layer, the first and second reliefs and blind pin being aligned. The panel is irradiated, laser energy passing through the first and second reliefs to remove material from the first and second dielectric layers and then plated, thereby forming a blind via from the first to third conductive layers through the second conductive layer. A printed circuit board has two conductive layers by a dielectric layer, and a blind via electrically interconnecting the first and third conductive layers through the first and second dielectric layers and second conductive layer. The blind via can be round or oblong.
