Abstract: A new and distinct cultivar of New Guinea Impatiens plant named ‘KLEI01024’, characterized by its mounded and outwardly spreading plant habit; freely branching growth habit; dark green-colored leaves; freely flowering habit with flowers positioned above or beyond the foliage; and large bright orange red-colored flowers.
Abstract: A petunia cultivar particularly distinguished by light pink colored flowers with a hint of red-purple, compact habit and good basal branching.
Abstract: A geranium cultivar particularly distinguished by dark green foliage with light zonation, burgundy flower color, and semi-double flowers on large umbels, fast rooting and exhibits vigorous growth.
Abstract: A metallic surface treating solution characterized in that it is an aqueous solution at pH 0.1 to 6.5 comprising a source of at least one selected from the group consisting of Mo, W, V, Nb, Ta, Ti, Zr, Ce, Sr, and trivalent chromium, an oxidizing substance source, and an oxyacid or oxyacid salt of phosphorus or its anhydride, a surface treating method using the treating solution, and metals thereby treated on the surface.
Abstract: An electrographic sensor unit and method for determining the position of a user selected position thereon. The electrographic sensor unit includes a layer of a conductive material having an electrical resistivity and a surface, at least three spaced apart contact points electrically interconnected with a layer of conductive material, a processor connected to the spaced apart contacts and disposed to selectively apply a signal to each of the contact points, and a probe assembly, that includes either a stylus of a flexible conductive layer spaced apart from the layer, coupled to the processor with the stylus disposed to be positioned by a user in vicinity of a user selected position on the surface of the layer, or that position being selected with a user's finger on the flexible layer and to receive signals from the layer when the contact points have signals selectively applied thereto.
Abstract: A method of accessing a distributed virtual world such that the only data requested of the network data sources and transmitted to the requesting computer is the data that codes for objects that the viewer can perceive, and to prioritize the data to be sent in order of its perceivability so that only relevant data is sent to the user.
Abstract: A display medium layer is sandwiched between a TFT substrate and a counter substrate. In the display medium layer, resin walls are respectively formed in regions other than those where a plurality of segmented electrodes are formed, and liquid crystal portions are respectively formed in regions between the respective resin walls, corresponding to those where the segmented electrodes are formed. Disclination lines are formed on the interfaces between the resin walls and the liquid crystal regions. In a liquid crystal display device, liquid crystal molecules in the liquid crystal regions are radially oriented and at least one liquid crystal domain is formed in each liquid crystal region.
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for managing dispersion in a WDM optical transmission system so that transmission performance is improved. The usable optical bandwidth of the transmission system is divided into sub-bands that individually undergo dispersion compensation before being re-combined. Accordingly, in comparison to known dispersion mapping techniques, more WDM data channels reside near a wavelength corresponding to the average zero dispersion wavelength.
Abstract: A personal computer data storage card includes a substrate layer, a magnetic medium layer, and a protective layer respectively affixed together. The data storage card is typically placed within an adapter and inserted into a personal computer floppy disk drive wherein the adapter includes dimensions compatible with the floppy disk drive to permit the data storage card to rotate about an axis perpendicular to the plane of the data storage card. During rotation of the data storage card within the floppy disk drive, the data storage card traverses floppy disk drive read/write heads for information storage and retrieval. Paper may be utilized as the protective layer of the data storage card and include text or graphics to have the data storage card simultaneously function as both a data storage device and a business card or other advertisement media.
Abstract: New A plunger having a cylindrical hollow body 20 or 20B , a handle 30, 30A, or 30B , an outlet hose 40 , an outlet tip 42 , and a valve or flap 50, 60, or 70 structure that is able to controls the air flow within the hollow 25 portion of the cylindrical body 20 or 20B is shown. The valve or flap 50, 60, or 70 structure is moved into a closed position so that air is forced out of the front of the plunger and towards a clogged or stopped area 82 or 92 and is moved into an open position so that air enters the back of the plunger and passes proceeds past the valve or flap 50, 60, or 70 structure, so that water and/or clogging material is not drawn or sucked into the interior of the plunger. F The hose attached to the cylindrical body is flexible and is smaller in diameter than the drain throat of a plumbing fixture allowing the hose to be placed into a clogged area.
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device which utilizes an active matrix substrate and its substrate, and which is provided with a novel method of manufacture which can reduce the manufacturing process of amorphous silicon thin film transistors of reverse stagger construction, and an electrostatic protection means which is created using this method of manufacture. In a thin film transistor manufacturing process, along with forming an aperture for connecting the contact hole and the external terminal in a manufacturing process for a thin film transistor, utilization is made of ITO film as the wiring. The electrostatic protection means is formed from a bi-directional diode (electrostatic protection element) which is composed utilizing an MOS transistor connected between the electrode (PAD) for connecting the external terminal, and the joint electric potential line.
Abstract: A kneepad is disclosed which includes a lower leg support adapted to closely engage a lower leg of a user. The lower leg support has an upper portion and a lower portion with the upper portion telescoping with the lower portion to allow the user to adjust the length of the lower leg support. A knee cover conforms to the shape of a knee but is physically separate therefrom. A curved portion connects the lower leg support and the knee cover. A strap is included which is adapted to engage an ankle of a user.
Abstract: The invention relates to a glove, especially a disposable glove. Said glove comprises at least two plastic films (6, 7) of substantially the same dimensions that are firmly linked with each other at least in the lateral marginal zones (8), thereby defining the inner (10) and the outer (9) face of the glove and leaving free a glove opening (11). Said glove is further characterized by an absorbing exterior layer (12) that is applied on the outer surface that pertains to the back of the hand and/or the inner surface that permits to the palm.
Abstract: The invention provides hockey pants comprising a main body, a fixed belt, and a floating belt. More specifically, the main body includes a pelvic area portion, a right thigh area portion, and a left thigh area portion. The fixed belt, which is integrally connected to the main body, comprises a plurality of padding elements that are selectively positioned and that act to protect the user's midsection. The selectively positioned padding elements include an adjustable dorsal protector adapted to extend over and protect the lower spine region of the wearer. Moreover, the fixed belt also includes an adjusting component capable of modifying the positioning of the dorsal protector relative to the back of the wearer's body. Overlying the fixed belt is the floating belt which, due to its flexible coupling with the main body, allows access to the adjusting component.
