Abstract: An herbaceous perennial Hibiscus plant named ‘Vulcan’, of hybrid background, bearing numerous, large, partially sterile flowers of red-purple that remain expanded for at least one full day, and, with strong upright stems that resist lodging and bear large, lobed leaves basally and entire upper leaves of a medium green color. The plants are of ornamental value for the flowers and as plants for landscape plantings. The flowering period extends from mid-summer until frost.
Abstract: A new and distinct hybrid variety Hibiscus moscheutos cultivar, particularly distinguished by having flowers of from nine to eleven inches in diameter that are deep pink (Red-Purple Group 73A) at the margins with somewhat paler pink (Red-Purple Group 73C) toward the center of each petal, with a deeper red eye (Red Group 45A). The length of the blooming cycle is about four to five weeks. The flowers, which have completely overlapping petals, retain their flat shape for two full days, except when temperatures are exceptionally warm. Distinguishing characteristics are constant and stable in asexually reproduced plants.
Abstract: A new and distinct gladiolus variety, designated ‘Golden Goddess’, is shown and described. Compared to the ‘Goldfield’ variety, the ‘Golden Goddess’ variety can also maintain six flowers in open bloom simultaneously in a water after harvest. The claimed variety differs from ‘Goldfield’ in that the ‘Goldfield’ variety produces stems that are 10 cm shorter with one to two less florets per stem.

Abstract: A new and distinct cultivar of Prunus mahaleb is provided. The new cultivar is particularly well suited for serving as an understock during cherry production. A number of advantages are provided when compared to the standard Mahaleb rootstock. The cultivar is readily amenable to vegetative propagation (e.g., by the use of softwood cuttings), and exhibits some improved resistance to Phytophthora spp. When used with a ‘Bing’ cherry scion, increased yields and yield efficiency have been observed without reduced fruit size. Improved precocity in bearing is displayed when compared to the standard Mahaleb rootstock. The new cultivar when grown without use as an understock forms a larger and more vigorous tree than the ‘UCMH 55’ and ‘UCMH 56’ cultivars that were products of the same research program.

Abstract: A visor cap, having a bill, a forehead shield having sides, an adjustable strap attached to and extending between the forehead shield sides, and a non-elastic sleeve. The adjustable strap extends through the non-elastic sleeve and has a relaxed position having a relaxed position length such that when in the relaxed position the non-elastic sleeve abuts the forehead shield sides. The adjustable strap has a pair of display panels adjacent to the forehead shield sides, and an elastic strap extending between the display panels. When the cap is donned by a wearer, the adjustable sleeve stretches to accommodate the head of the wearer, creating temple openings between the non-elastic sleeve and the forehead shield sides, revealing the display panels. When the cap is removed by the wearer, the elastic band returns to the relaxed position and the non-elastic sleeve once again abuts the forehead shield sides—substantially concealing the display panels.
