Abstract: A data measurement system (DMS) (30) for a computed tomography (CT) scanner (12) includes a plurality of connectorized detector sub-array modules (32). Each detector sub-array module (32) includes: a scintillator (40) that produces scintillation events responsive to irradiation by x-rays; a photodetector array (42) arranged to detect the scintillations; and two symmetrically arranged signal connectors (541, 542) that transmit the photodetector signals. Symmetrically mounted pipeline cards (60) mate with the signal connectors (54) of each side of groups of the detector sub-array modules (32) to receive the photodetector signals. A processor (64) communicating with the pipeline cards (60) receives the photodetector signals from the pipeline cards (60) and constructs a DMS output from the photodetector signals.

Abstract: A system for managing a structured cabling system, together with the attached equipment and devices, utilises a hand-held scanner to record moves, adds and changes by scanning machine-readable identifiers (such as bar-code labels) attached to structured cabling components, including but not limited to active and passive communications equipment, cross-connects, patch cords, backbone connections and peripheral equipment. The system records or audits cross-connects by scanning the label of each port and cable in a cross-connect and correlating the cable identifiers to infer the connections. Complete end-to-end connections (‘channels’) can be inferred in the same way, and the system provides a mechanism to filter the display of channels to provide the most relevant details, including display of only frequently changed components, incomplete channels and permanent patches (‘patch by exception’).

Abstract: A valve device for a silence is disclosed. The valve device opens a bypass passage provided in the silencer to flow exhaust gas through the bypass passage when exhaust gas pressure rises to a certain pressure. The valve device includes a base having a valve opening through which exhaust gas flows, and a plate-like valve for opening and closing the valve opening. The plate-like valve is fixed to the base at its proximal portion, and is bent at both edges thereof in a certain range extending from its distal end toward the proximal portion.

Abstract: A composite noise abatement block (12)(13), containing at least one embedded sound absorbing medium (18) and at least one orfice (19) which partially exposes the embedded sound absorbing medium (18). The composite noise abatement block (12)(13) has connecters (14)(15)(16) (17) allowing multiple blocks to be connected to form an imbricated noise abatement wall (FIG. 9). The functional design of the orfice (19) allows sound to enter the orfice (19) directly into the sound absorbing medium (18) where sound quickly dissipates with less resonance than existing noise abatement systems. The noise abatement block walls are used to absorb sound in or on highways, airports, sound studios, theaters and other commercial and non commercial uses.

Abstract: An acoustical absorber, having the structure: scrim/film/batt/film/scrim. Preferably, the batt is made from about 60% to about 90% by weight natural fiber and about 10% to about 40% synthetic fiber. Also, a method of making the acoustical absorber is provided. Additionally, a method for acoustically insulating a structure with the acoustical absorber is provided. The method for acoustically insulating may include the steps of compressing the acoustical absorber to less than its original volume prior to installing the absorber and releasing the absorber from compression following the installing step, allowing the material to recover and to fill the void of the structure in which the absorber was placed.
