Termites are forced to pass through and disperse the slow-acting and non-repellent toxicant through their tunnels and living space in order to kill termites over time. A second embodiment houses the slow acting toxicant mixed with non-edible foraging matrix in a chamber having at least one wall formed from an edible, non-toxic food source such as being wood, paper, cellulose material, foam, plastic, and the like.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 3, 2003Publication date: April 15, 2004Applicant: University of Florida, a state universityInventors: Faith M. Publication number: 20040068922Abstract: A fuel additive composition includes a reaction product of a succinic acylating agent and a polyamine having at least one condensable primary amine group where the reaction product has a ratio of the imide to amide infrared carbonyl absorption peak areas of about 1:0.0-0.6 and a water content of about 0.3% or less by weight. The succinic acylating agent is prepared by thermal condensation of a highly reactive polyolefin with maleic anhydride or a reactive equivalent thereof. This fuel additive composition has a low chlorine content and is very effective in fuel compositions that include a normally liquid fuel in reducing deposits in the fuel intake system of an internal combustion engine.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 28, 2003Publication date: April 15, 2004Inventors: Robert H. Publication number: 20040068923Abstract: Olefins and alcohols present in Fischer-Tropsch products are converted to primary and secondary alkyl alcohols having at least four carbons through acid catalyzed etherification and hydrolysis reactions. The alcohols are added to a highly isoparaffinic distillate fuel blend, improving the lubricity of the mixture, and forming a distillate fuel with improved lubricity.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 9, 2002Publication date: April 15, 2004Inventors: Dennis J. Publication number: 20040068924Abstract: Olefins and alcohols present in Fischer-Tropsch light naphthas are converted to dialkyl ethers of the formula: R—O—R′ where R and R′ are each primarily non-tertiary alkyl groups of more than four carbon atoms, via hydration of the olefins to alcohols followed by dehydration of the alcohols. Ethers may also form by direct reaction of olefins and alcohols. The ethers are separated from the remaining paraffins in the naphtha by distillation and added in an amount of 1-25 wt. % to paraffinic mid-distillate fuel components obtained by hydrotreating a Fischer-Tropsch product. The properties of the distillate fuel components such as lubricity and seal swell are improved by the dialkyl ethers. The removal of olefins and alcohols from the naphthas reduces refining and lead to a more salable product.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 9, 2002Publication date: April 15, 2004Inventors: Dennis J. Publication number: 20040068926Abstract: The display apparatus includes a multi-sided or annular shell which may serve as a container per se for displaying an article or combined with a decorative outer shell to form a composite container. A suspension system for the container includes a plurality of brackets, each forming an aperture with adjoining side walls of the container or inner shell, flexible lines and a connecting element including a universal joint for suspending the apparatus from a support. The lower end of each line has a keeper for preventing withdrawal of the line from the bracket. The lines at their upper ends are secured to a wire loop having a hook superposed over a ball for forming a universal connection with the support.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 15, 2002Publication date: April 15, 2004Inventor: W.
