Abstract: A handle of a winch of a lashing rope includes a metallic tube part, two caps, and a soft plastic part. The plastic part is formed around a large portion of the tube part except for two ends of the tube part by means of injection molding. The tube part has a D-shaped cross-section for preventing rotary movement of the plastic part relative to it when the handle is being used. The handle is joined to two lever portions of a winch with two ends of the tube part being passed through respective D-shaped holes on the outward ends of the lever portions so that rotary movement of the tube part is prevented when the winch is being operated at the handle and the lever portions. The caps are joined to two ends of the tube part.

Abstract: A hinge assembly incorporates a substantially straight hinge pin for securing a lid to a container. At least one end of a hinge line is initially closed via a plastic wall. The substantially straight hinge pin is secured in the hinge line via passing the hinge pin through the plastic wall. Subsequently, residual axial and radial stresses caused by passing the hinge pin through the wall cause the opening to contract, thereby retaining the pin. By providing a hinge assembly including a substantially straight hinge pin, the assembly process can be more easily automated.

Abstract: A dual handle attachment for a floor appliance, e.g., vacuum cleaner, large push broom, mop, squeegee, etc., allows a user of the appliance to manipulate or maneuver the appliance using generally symmetrical upper body, arm, wrist, and hand forces and movements, thereby obviating the need for asymmetrical twisting and the greater strength required to manipulate such a device using only a single arm and hand. The present attachment comprises a single central bracket which attaches to the conventional single handlebar of such an appliance, with a left and a right handgrip adjustably extending from the central bracket. The two handgrips may be pivotally adjusted by the user as desired, and may be interchanged for handgrips having different shapes or configurations as desired. One embodiment may be removably secured to the appliance, with another embodiment providing for permanent attachment as an integral part of the appliance at the time of manufacture.

Abstract: This invention relates to a spring fastener, which comprises engagement springs in opposite sides of the fastener. Each engagement spring has an engagement region comprising a hindrance portion, which increases considerably the removal to insertion force ratio as compared to such ratio in the absence of the hindrance portion, thus permitting very easy insertion with considerably more difficult removal of the fastener from the slot of a panel, which provides an efficient ergonomically balanced removal to insertion force ratio. The hindrance portion comprises ripples or other hindrance elements of unexpectedly minute dimensions for providing this efficient ergonomic force balance. The combination of the above structures with the presence of barbs being bent at their front portion improves immensely the ergonomic character of the devices.

The method includes the steps of providing a rolled sheet of metal material having an initial thickness and forming a blank having a prescribed outer shape from the material. The method also includes machining a second side of the blank such that the resulting face plate has a variable thickness. The machining is such that the plate has a first thickness less than or equal to the initial thickness, a second thickness less than the first thickness and a third thickness less than the second thickness. The machining is performed over a substantial portion of the surface area of the second side. Either a CNC lathe or milling machine may be used; however, for an axisymmetric face thickness a CNC lathe is preferred and for an asymmetric face thickness a CNC end mill is preferred. The club head may be a wood-type or iron, and titanium or steel alloys may be used.

The composite strip is coiled helically to produce the hollow cylindrical stator core. By pressure rolling at least one strip, the internal diameter of the stator core can be adjusted to reduce irregularities. By superimposing strips prior to coiling, thinner strips can be used without requiring the stator forming machine to operate longer or faster to produce stator cores of a given size. The pressure rolling aspects of the invention are also applicable to coiling apparatus that uses only a single strip. For a typical type of termination, a short portion of the manufacturing jacket is stripped away at the point of termination to expose the strands. After the terminations are placed in the appropriate position, potting compound or other mechanical means are typically applied to lock the terminations to the exposed lengths of strands. A completed cable assembly is thus created. However, the presence of the manufacturing jacket, while highly desirable for manufacturing, is often undesirable for end use.

Abstract: An electro-optical level includes a bubble level having a tube with a liquid therein and a bubble formed by the liquid in the tube. A substantially linear light source is directed toward and through the tube. A linear lens array focuses light passing through the bubble tube onto a linear lens array for producing an image of the bubble in the bubble level. The lens array employs the focused light to identify precisely end points of the bubble in the tube and then employs locational data for the end points to assess levelness. The electro-optical level further includes an out put display that is pivotally mounted into an optimal alignment for easy viewing by a user.

Abstract: A template for aligning and installing an electrical device box in a wall is herein disclosed. The template is a flat, planar plate having a peripheral edge and an interior cutout formed therethrough. The interior cutout is shaped to allow the insertion of the body of an electrical device box therein in close conformity therewith. At least one portion of the peripheral edge of the template is aligned with the interior cutout such that when the template is aligned with a mark on the wall, the interior cutout of the template will also be aligned with the mark. Tracing the inner cutout of the template onto a wall defines a cutout for the electrical device box. The template may be interposed between the electrical device box and the wall to act as a support flange for the installation of the electrical device box. A leveling device may be secured to the template to aid in aligning the template upon the wall.

Abstract: A measurement device and apparatus for measuring the out-of-roundness of a circular part. The apparatus includes a base on which a travel assembly is mounted within an elongated channel formed in the base. A recirculating ball bearing slide assembly is operatively coupled to a flat strip force spring, which is in turn coupled to ball bearing slide assembly, and which provides a constant contact force, regardless of distance, to bias the travel assembly into a 90-degree corner portion of the base assembly. A generally circular part is placed in the 90-degree corner and manually rotated while the travel assembly is in contact with an outer surface thereof. The linear movement of the travel assembly is detected by a measurement device which provides an indication of the out-of-roundness of the part.

Abstract: A shoe vamp having a pattern includes a pattern layer, and a thermoplastic layer. The pattern layer is permeable and expandable, and includes an outer side printed with a pattern. The thermoplastic layer includes an outer layer and an inner layer. The outer layer infiltrates into the outer side of the pattern layer to wholly and completely cover and encompass the outer side of the pattern layer. The inner layer covers the inner side of the pattern layer and combines with the outer layer. Thus, the surface of the shoe vamp is formed with a pattern which is changed and varied according to the pattern variations of the pattern layer, thereby enhancing the versatility of the shoe vamp, and thereby enhancing the aesthetic quality of the shoe vamp.
