  • Patent number: 6789964
Abstract: In a wire dot printer of the present invention, an armature stopper against which an armature rocking from a printing position to a standby position collides is provided, and the armature stopper is formed by integrating an elastic plate and a hard plate with each other. The hard plate is made of surface-hardened titanium having excellent abrasion resistance. As the hard plate is made of surface-hardened titanium having excellent abrasion resistance, even when the armature rocking to the standby position collides against the armature stopper, the hard plate is not scraped, broken or deformed. As the elastic plate and the hard plate are integrated with each other, a shock upon collision between the armature and the hard plate is efficiently absorbed by the elastic plate, and vibration of the hard plate due to the collision between the armature and the hard plate can be suppressed.

Abstract: The invention pertains to a vehicle for handling coils (2), particularly sheet metal coils, or the like. According to the invention, the vehicle comprises a bridgelike frame structure (1) which forms a tunnel (3) all along the vehicle, for the passage of coils (2) while they lay on the ground, having height and width dimensions slightly greater than the corresponding dimensions of the coils (2), means (18) for griping the coils (2) and means (10) for lifting the coils (2). In accordance with an advantageous improvement, the tunnel (3) is at least partly upwardly open, to allow the coils (2) to be lifted above the height of the tunnel (3). The invention also addresses a combination of the vehicle with a store for coils (2), wherein coils (2) are arranged axially side-by-side on rows (A, B, C, D), whose distance from each other depends on the wheel gauge of the vehicle.

Abstract: A method for rapid depalletizing and lifting of stacks of cartons aboard vessels is provided which may include sliding the stacks of cartons from a pallet onto a transport surface at a loading end, moving the stack of cartons along the transport surface to a lifting station having fork channels extending across the lifting station for receiving the blades of a load push lift truck, and lifting the stack of cartons from the lifting station. The transport surface may comprise a plurality of rollers. The stack of cartons may be lifted by cargo slings into the hold of a ship, or lifted from the lifting end on the blades of a load push lift truck. The pallet may be retained on the blades of a load push lift truck while the stack of cartons carried by the pallet is pushed from the pallet by a restraint. The empty pallet may then be carried to and deposited in a pallet accumulation location by the lift truck.

Abstract: A system and method for reducing blade strain on the fan blades of an air cycle machine is proposed. The method involves a strut arrangement that is positioned in a cylindrical air passage upstream from the fan assembly. The strut arrangement includes at least three struts, wherein the at least three struts are separated by unequal degrees of separation along the circumference of the air passage. The strut arrangement effectively reduces the strain on the blades of the fan assembly.

Abstract: An assist airblower unit for a heating and ventilating system of a motor vehicle. The airblower includes a single motor and two centrifugal fan wheels encased within a shell. The motor drives both centrifugal fan wheels via a shaft. The centrifugal fan wheels have angled blades that draws in air from a lateral air inlet located on the shell. The air is then forced out of the outlet openings into the automobiles interior to either heat or cool the vehicle. The air source either outputs at the front of the HVAC unit or recirculation air, i.e., cabin air.
