Abstract: A drying apparatus for use with many kinds of objects, but is particularly suited for use in drying most kinds of produce and vegetables including leaf vegetables. In one embodiment, the dryer includes a canted drum design which provides a number of benefits and advantages over prior art designs. The canted design allows the use of a spin drying method that breaks up clumps of material in the dryer and assists in the even distribution of material, thereby improving load balance. The canted design provides ergonomic advantages to the operator when loading and unloading the dryer, and, the canted design allows easy access to the drive system for maintenance and repairs.

Abstract: Having batteries as its primary power source, the Freedom Hair Dryer uses heating coils 10, 15, and 20, or any combination thereof, to generate heat. By connecting the A/C adapter to the A/C adapter inlet 98, you can use A/C current as your secondary power source. With the aid of heat convection material 50, the heat is intensified before being passed on through a heat transfer hose 35, and into a cap 45. All of the parts are protected against heat with heat resistant material 65. The dryer has a pouch which stores the cap 45, and heat transfer hose 35, when they are not being used. Abstract: The invention is a fluid system with an internal filter assembly that prevents particulate from moving between portions of the fluid system. The internal filter assembly is located within a fluid path extending between a particle source, such as a textile tensile member, and a portion of the fluid system that may be affected by particulates from the particle source, such as a valve. The fluid system, and particularly the internal filter assembly, has applicability to articles of footwear, for example.

Abstract: Improved impact cushioning within a shoe is provided by a novel heel hammock recess formed beneath the heel of the wearer. The heel hammock recess includes an elastic member supporting the wearer's heel surrounded by a surround surface formed to bear substantial weight. The impact energy transmitted upwardly through the heel to the wearer's foot during heel impact passes through the elastic membrane of the heel hammock allowing flexing and energy absorption to occur as the heel is cradled in the heel hammock. Embodiments are shown in which the impact absorbing member is formed integrally with a molded athletic shoe sole as well as alternative embodiments in which the impact absorbing structure is formed in a removable insole and also formed in a variety of general use shoes.

In particular, the insole of the footwear is constructed of the material “marine buoy;” that is, the insole has an inner structure and an outer coating, the inner structure being constructed of a thermoplastic resin and the outer coating being constructed of a vinyl polymer. The footwear is advantageously water-proof and provides buoyancy in water.

Abstract: A mounting device for mounting a snowplow controller or the like to the inside of a vehicle cab includes a sub-plate and an angle bracket. The sub-plate is adapted to be secured to the dash. The angle bracket includes a mounting plate releaseably secured to the sub-plate and a support plate, adapted to hold the controller, disposed at an angle relative to the mounting plate. In the preferred embodiment, the angle bracket is secured to the sub-plate with fasteners disposed through one or more slots in the mounting plate. Alternatively, the angle bracket is secured to the sub-plate using a layer of hooks and loops. The support plate is preferably substantially horizontal, but may also include a hinge such that the angle of the support plate may be adjusted.

Self defense, however, requires immediate access which implies a loaded firearm. A safety cartridge for loaded firearms to be used for self defense is disclosed. The safety cartridge is designed to prevent an unauthorized person from firing a loaded pistol, revolver, rifle, or shotgun. The safety cartridge is placed in the firing chamber of a loaded firearm containing live ammunition in the magazine (or cylinder of a revolver). The owner of the loaded firearm may quickly use his weapon for self defense or in a police action to stop a crime by ejecting the safety cartridge from the chamber of a pistol, rifle, or shotgun . . . or by rotating the multi-chambered cylinder of a revolver so that the safety cartridge is out-of-line with the firing pin and barrel.

Abstract: A gunstock is presented which is individually capable of mounting a diverse assortment of long gun firearms. It is comprised of three primary components, these being a buttstock, a bedding chassis, and a forestock. These components are removably attached to one another, thereby permitting selective assembly and disassembly of the gunstock. The bedding chassis, which is the component that is attached to the firearm's action and barrel assembly, can be configured to accommodate various types of firearms. The utility of the gunstock derives from the fact that different types of firearms can be mounted to individual bedding chassis, which can be removably and interchangeably installed in the gunstock. Further, the bedding chassis acts as a base onto which components with varied configurations can be attached, permitting a firearm to be modularly reconfigured as circumstances warrant.

The gripping clamp can be used to hold the materials while being processed (e.g., removing a stem from a feather), and for attaching the fly-tying materials to a tying thread. Cylindrical tools are also provided for further processing more fine strands such as synthetic threaded materials, and for adding these with other fly-tying materials (e.g., hackle, dubbing), as appropriate.

Abstract: The present invention provide a rubber composition which prevents the rise in rubber hardness over time and can maintain good performance on snow and ice over a long period. The rubber composition comprises (A) a diene rubber containing, as a main component, at least one member selected from the group consisting of natural rubber and butadiene rubber, and (B) 5 to 60 parts by weight of vegetable oil which has an iodine value of at least 80 and contains at least 70% by weight of unsaturated fatty acid having at least 18 carbon atoms, based on 100 parts by weight of the diene rubber (A), the rubber composition having a tan &dgr; peak temperature Tg of at most −50° C. and a rubber hardness of at most 64 at 0° C. Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing clones of woody plants. According to the method, first, the mother plants are selected from selected clones in order to produce root cuttings and the mother plants are grown long enough to form a strong root system. After the growing period, the grown mother plants are left in dormancy and the shoots of the plants are cut after the plants have reached complete dormancy. The root system of the mother plant is recovered, the thinnest part of the root system is removed, and the roots are cut. The pieces of root, i.e., the root cuttings, are brought to rooting conditions to take root in a suitable growth medium or, optionally, the root cuttings are pre-treated. The root cuttings that have taken root and/or started to grow a shoot are selected, recovered, and grown to become plants. Alternatively, the root cuttings obtained from cutting or pre-treating the roots are selected and inserted directly into the selected area of forest cultivation.

Abstract: The invention is modular unit and the arrangement of several modular units to surround a tree so as to permit and invite several of bicycles to be secured to them. The modular units are arranged so as not to allow sufficient space for placement of a bicycle adjacent to a tree. Another function of an arrangement of several modular units surrounding a tree is to protect the tree from impact with motor vehicles or from open automobile doors. The modules are best utilized to protect urban planted trees, thereby enhancing and preserving urban environments.

Abstract: A method for increasing the yield of leguminous products in a manner unaffected by weather is provided. According to the method, a leguminous plant is allowed to grow as it is up to a certain stage of cultivation. When podding begins, lateral branches and leaves on the branches, which absorb nutrients in a large amount, are eliminated so that nutrients can be utilized exclusively for growing pods containing seeds. Thus, the method accelerates ripening of pods and ripens seeds borne in pods growing on up to upper branches. After germination of sown seeds of a leguminous plant and subsequent growth of seedlings, when podding begins on the lowermost branch, branches extending outward as viewed from the pods are cut off together with leaves on the branches, thereby allowing intensive utilization of nutrients for ripening pods containing seeds.

Abstract: A method of sowing plant seeds and the sowing materials used thereof are disclosed. The sowing method comprises the steps of a) providing a base with water-absorbing ability and humidity-maintaining ability, wherein the base includes a plurality of concavities, b) inlaying the plant seeds in the plural concavities of the base, and c) covering a cultivating material with the base, wherein each concavity has a void therein for allowing a radicle of a corresponding plant seed to pierce therethrough and be rooted in the cultivating material while the corresponding plant seed is germinating. The base comprises light-blocking material for preventing weeds from growing and is selected from a group consisting of a mulching paper, a fabric, a fiber and a polymer. Therefore, the steps of sowing, soil-covering and weed-removal for agricultural production can be proceeded simultaneously and thus lower cost.

The pots include angled recesses disposed radially about the bottom portion of the pots. The compartments of the tray include angled protrusions disposed radially about the bottom portion of the compartment. The angled recesses of the pot engage with the angled protrusions of the compartment when the pot is placed in the compartment to urge the pot into proper alignment. A plurality of slots are included along an upper portion of each pot for allowing optional identification tags to be inserted thereinto. The identification tags, in addition to logos, artwork, or other indicia, if included, are positioned by the self-orienting configuration of the pots and tray to face in a desired direction.

Abstract: A side sliding door device is provided for a vehicle that opens and closes an entrance on a side of the vehicle by a sliding door movably supported on a horizontal door rail. The sliding door device includes an automatic locking mechanism that is interlocked with a closing operation of the sliding door, and locks the sliding door in a closed state, and a manual locking mechanism that locks the sliding door in the closed state by a manual operation. The automatic locking mechanism and the manual locking mechanism are secured on a common base plate on a vehicle body and integrated into one unit, so that the manual locking mechanism prevents an unlocking operation of the automatic locking mechanism in a locked state and holds the sliding door in the locked state.

Abstract: A motor vehicle door has a removable door outer skin, a module carrier, a door inner skin and a door inner trim. The door inner skin is connected on one side to the removable door outer skin and on the other side to the module carrier.
