Patent number: 6811688Abstract: A chromatography column suitable for small-scale laboratory use as a column tube resembling that of a syringe and a movable plunger which slides in the column tube. End filter arrangements are mounted by direct integration, e.g. melt-bonding of glass, into these components. A tubular stem providing an internal flow conduit to the end filter arrangement at the front end of the plunger is also integrally bonded behind the permeable filter portion. By making all of these operational components out of a formable, melt-bondable material, preferably glass which can also make sliding seals with itself, the resulting chromatography column is simple to use and unlikely to leak by comparison with conventional laboratory columns which use many discrete components.Type: GrantFiled: February 15, 2002Date of Patent: November 2, 2004Assignee: Downstream Media LimitedInventor: Martin John Hofmann

Patent number: 6811729Abstract: A process of monolithically forming one-piece reflective pavement marker or delineator, including at least one retro reflective face. The process is based on molding the pavement marker or delineator with means to integrally form cube-corner reflective elements and internal hollow cavity air gaps simultaneously. The pavement marker also provides means to enhance agglutination to the roadway. The open ends of hollow cavities at the marker base can be sealed, thereby maximizing the base area for adhesive wetting parameter. The monolithically formed reflective marker can be made, either from one type of plastic, or from two polymers with varied specifications, said polymer is to be from high impact and abrasion resistance thermoplastics. The integrally formed reflective face provided with means to form cube-corner reflective elements on designated cell like areas within the inside surface of said reflective face. The reflective pavement marker further provided with means to enhance abrasion resistant surface.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 2001Date of Patent: November 2, 2004Inventor: Adil Attar

Patent number: 6811731Abstract: A fire-retardant wood-based composite is formed by treating a green wood furnish with an amount of a phosphate/borate fire retardant treatment effective to increase the fire retardancy of the resulting wood-based composite, compared to the fire retardancy of the corresponding wood-based composite lacking the fire retardant. The fire retardant treated green wood furnish is blended with a binder and then bound, as by pressing the furnish, to form a non-leaching fire-retardant wood based composite. Another aspect of the invention is the product formed according to the preceding process. The fire retardant may also act as a catalyst to cure the binder and thus promote binding. Also, the addition of the fire retardant to green wood chips, without the need to dry them to a low moisture content, is believed to be novel.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 2001Date of Patent: November 2, 2004Assignee: Chemical Specialties, Inc.Inventors: Kevin J. Patent number: 6811732Abstract: A method of producing a polymer insulator and an end processing apparatus utilized for the method. The insulator has a core, an overcoat member arranged on the core, and a fitting member for securing the core at its both ends, wherein the core and the fitting member are secured under pressure at both ends of the core by contacting a ring-shaped protrusion portion arranged at both ends of the overcoat member to an open inner end of the fitting member. The method includes the steps of: forming the overcoat member on the core; forming the ring-shaped protrusion portion integrally with the overcoat member by processing an end portion of the overcoat member, and securing the fitting member.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 2002Date of Patent: November 2, 2004Assignee: NGK Insulators, Ltd.Inventor: Toshiro Marumasu

Patent number: 6811733Abstract: A method for forming a plurality of composite parts via resin transfer molding in a single molding cycle. The method includes the steps of using a mold having first and second mold members that cooperate to house a plurality of shims and placing a plurality of preform workpiece into the mold cavity such that at least one of the shims is disposed between each of an adjacent pair of the preform workpieces. A liquid resin is then injected into the mold cavity and subsequently cured to thereby form a cured workpiece matrix that is composed of a plurality of semi-finished composite parts and at least one shim separating the plurality of semi-finished composite parts from one another.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 2001Date of Patent: November 2, 2004Assignee: The Boeing CompanyInventors: Karl M. Patent number: 6811735Abstract: A method for forming tear lines in the rear side of an automobile interior article having a cover portion being developed from which an airbag inflates. When either an automobile interior article body having an integrally molded surface portion or an automobile interior article surface portion is to be molded, the mold is opened after tear line forming projections are moved forward and backward with the mold closed. Thus, the tear lines can be formed at the molding time without any visible extrusion marks of the tear line forming projections on the front surface side (the design face).Type: GrantFiled: July 26, 2002Date of Patent: November 2, 2004Assignee: Toyoda GoseiInventors: Shigehiro Ueno, Akiyoshi Nagano, Kazumichi Shigeno, Kenichi Furuta, Tatsuo Yamada, Kenji Sugiyama

Patent number: 6811736Abstract: A method of producing a plastic product having a microstructured surface (3a), utilizing an arrangement for moulding plastic products. Said arrangement has at least two mould parts (2, 3) movable towards and away from each other, a predetermined volume of a viscous polymerizable plastic material (9) being supplied to a cavity formed between the mould parts, after which polymerization of the plastic material occurs. After said polymerization of the plastic material (9′), the mould parts are caused to move apart from each other thereby allowing removal of a finished plastic product the outer shape of which conforms to the shape of the cavity produced by the mould parts. Said viscous polymerizable plastic material (9) is supplied to the cavity (6) around a hole (10a) pertaining to the finished plastic product, and said viscous plastic material is distributed in a direction from said hole (10a) towards the peripheral edge area of the plastic product.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 2002Date of Patent: November 2, 2004Assignees: Gyros AB, Amic ABInventors: Per Ove Ohman, Lars Rune Lundbladh
