  • Patent number: 6810583
Abstract: An electrical structure that includes a complex power-signal (CPS) substructure. The CPS substructure is formed and tested to determine whether the CPS substructure satisfies electrical performance acceptance requirements. The testing includes testing for electrical shorts, electrical opens, erroneous impedances, and electrical signal delay. If the CPS substructure passes the tests, then a dielectric-metallic (DM) laminate is formed on an external surface of the CPS substructure. The DM laminate includes an alternating sequence of an equal number N of dielectric layers and metallic layers such that a first dielectric layer of the N dielectric layers is formed on an external surface of the CPS substructure. N is at least 2. A multilevel conductive via is formed through the DM laminate and is electrically coupled to a metal layer of the CPS substructure.

  • Patent number: 6810597
Abstract: A method of measuring an artefact 5 using a machine 2 on which a measuring probe 6 is mounted. The probe is brought into contact with the artefact and movement continued for a limited distance to deflect the stylus 7. The machine and probe outputs are recorded whilst the probe is free and when the stylus is deflected. A model of the probe and CMM outputs during both contact and non-contact between the probe and artefact is fitted to the data to allow the contact position when the stylus contacts the artefact with zero force to be determined. The probe outputs may be fitted to the model individually to determine a single contact position. By using data during movement of the probe towards and away from the artefact, errors due to time delays may be corrected.

  • Patent number: 6810621
Abstract: A friction brake for a louvered structure having a plurality of slats pivotally interconnected between opposed stiles of a rectangular frame is described. The friction brake is a flat arm having a pair of spaced apertures. One of the apertures is dimensioned to receive a cylindrical sleeve of a connector which is secured to a pivot rod of a slat and the other aperture is dimensioned for friction fit about the cylindrical sleeve connected to the pivot rod of an adjacent slat whereby to arrest the connector and all the slats. All of the slats are interconnected together by a longitudinal slat interconnecting member which is pivotally connected to all of the slat connectors whereby when any slat is positioned to a desired slat angle all of the other slats will move in unison to that desired angle and be retained thereat by the friction retention of the second aperture of the friction brake about the cylindrical sleeve of one of the slats. Two or more friction brakes can be mounted in a stile.

  • Patent number: 6810622
Abstract: A power sliding assembly for moving a windowpane within a track within a window frame between an open position and a closed position. The power sliding assembly includes a motor fixedly secured to the window frame. The motor generates a rotational force. The power sliding assembly also includes a lead screw that is operatively connected to the motor to translate the rotational force to axial movement. In addition, the power sliding assembly includes a bracket secured to the lead screw and the windowpane. The bracket travels with the lead screw as the lead screw is driven axially along the track to move the windowpane between the open and closed positions.

Abstract: Fire protection devices and related methods for isolating building structures from an external fire are disclosed. The fire protection device includes a rolled fire-resistant protective cover having dimensions large enough to cover the building structure. The protective cover is then stored in a storage bag storing the protective cover and being disposed on a inclined top surface of the building structure. The device includes means for releasing the rolled protective cover from the storage bag so that, upon release from the storage bag, the protective cover can roll down the inclined top surface by gravity.

Abstract: A spiral stake includes a handle structure which facilitates transfer of downwardly and torsionally directed forces from a user's hand to the stake during installation in the ground at a selected location. The spiral stake includes a spiral section, and a straight transition section extending between the handle and the spiral section. A portion of the handle contacting the users palm when downward and torsional force is applied thereto presents a convex curvature of suitable dimension and shape characteristics to distribute resistive forces comfortably to the user's hand. In a preferred embodiment, an opposed region of the handle contains a series of indentations forming a grip for the corresponding reception of the user's fingers, resulting in improved ergonomic feel and force-transfer efficiency.
