Abstract: A restraint system for restraining a person in a vehicle of transportation, includes a safety harness having length adjustable shoulder belts and a buckle for connecting the shoulder belt on a chest-side of a person and a stiff U-shaped shoulder yoke having legs, which are contoured to a torso of the person, and a high collar interconnecting the legs, whereby the shoulder belts are secured by a fastening mechanism behind the collar. The legs of the shoulder yoke and the shoulder belts have confronting sides which are formed, at least partially, with an interacting engagement structure which is configured to increase friction as the shoulder belts move in relation to the legs in longitudinal direction, while inhibiting a displacement of the shoulder belts in relation to the legs in transverse direction.

Abstract: A glove that includes a glove closure apparatus in the form of a closure channel that allows the glove to be more easily closed or compressed without requiring extensive breaking-in procedures. In one embodiment the glove includes one or more closure channels near the palm portion of the front side of the glove. The closure channels are U-shaped closure channels or gaps that allow the glove to be compressed significantly easier than if the material were otherwise in the channel area. A plurality of closure channels may be formed at specific locations on the front side of the glove to reduce the amount of force that is required to close and open the glove. In addition, the one or more closure channels may include a cover material to prevent debris from entering into an interior region of the glove.

  • Publication number: 20040216210
Abstract: A central line access and support garment provides a relatively tight inner layer to support and protect central line port sites and external lines. The garment protects a multitude of port site locations. Releasable shoulder closures allow for easy access to the port sites and lines while providing an easy to wear garment for the patient. An inner layer is tight enough to protect the port site, securely holding the bandage, if used at the port site, against the patient's body. The garment offers the flexibility of placing the external lines anywhere on the patient's upper torso for comfort to the patient. An elastic band around the central body cavity serves as a protective shelf to keep external lines from hanging freely and thus pulling on the port site. An outer layer serves to protect the inner layer, absorbing stresses caused by outer garment movement and providing an additional layer of protection for the port site and external lines.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a system of short- and medium-spans for bridges and other structures. The bridge superstructure is built mainly from components that are not vulnerable to corrosion. It consists of precast prestressed concrete truss girders and a concrete deck. The girders have top and bottom concrete bulbs (i.e. flanges) connected by precast vertical and diagonal truss members made of corrosion-resistant metallic or non-metallic tubes filled with concrete. The deck can be a cast-in-situ reinforced concrete slab or an assembly of precast concrete panels tied together by longitudinal with or without transverse prestressing tendons. The reinforcement in the slab can be fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) bars and/or corrosion-resistant steel bars. The term corrosion-resistant metal or steel means a product that has delayed corrosion properties.

Abstract: A pressure type pool cleaner includes a head (10) propelled forwardly (34) over a surface (12). Water pumped (14, 16) to the head drives wheels (22) turbine fashion; inducts debris into a cleaner system; and is ejected via a thrust nozzle (42) onto a guide (68) and thence along a thrust line (80) to thrust the head along the line (80). A pivoted director (44) mounts the guide (68) and includes a surface member (56) exposed to the water. During forward movement, water pressure on the member (56) counteracts jet stream pressure on the guide and maintains the guide's orientation for the thrust line (80) to above a wheel rotation axis (24). When an obstacle stops forward motion, pressure on the member (56) and its counteracting stop, the guide (68) is reoriented and redirects the thrust to well below the axis (24) to pivot the head (10) about the axis to assist the wheels (22) to scale the obstacle.

Abstract: A remotely actuated surface cleaning device employs an inner component having a resiliently flexible body with a plurality of embedded magnets and a cleaning element to engage a surface to be cleaned. An outer housing containing an electric motor moves a support disc containing an operably like plurality of magnets to those embedded in the body. The inner and outer components are placed oppositely adjacent on the surface to be cleaned thereby supporting the inner component with respect to the outer component by magnetic attraction. Operation of the motor moving the second support disc causes the sympathetic motion of the first support disc and body thereby rapidly moving the cleaning element across the surface to be cleaned.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a hand tool for cleaning areas within reach of a user's arm. The cleaning tool includes a screw part (20) to which a long cleaning cloth (27) is helically fastened, and a handle (10) connected to the screw part. In the cleaning tool, the screw part includes a fitting hole receiving a fastening member for fastening the cleaning cloth to the screw part. A plurality of annular ribs (21) are provided on the screw part at regular intervals, with a recess (22) being formed on each of the ribs. According to the cleaning tool of the present invention, the screw part has a simple structure, thus dramatically reducing the manufacturing cost of a metal mold for producing the screw parts, as well as allowing the cloth to be firmly fastened to the screw part.
