  • Patent number: 6824026
Abstract: A secondary closure adapted to be resealingly engaged over the elongated open dispensing spout extending from a caulking tube cartridge. The closure includes a spout receiving area which conforms to and seals against the extended continuous exterior surface of the spout maintaining an airtight seal to prevent the hardening of air curable material within. The resealing closure also provides for the imparting of exterior mechanical forces upon its base for rotation and removal or resealing being integral with the body of the closure. The closure interior dimensions are such that a progressive sealing action is achieved as the closure is distortably engaged longitudinally over the dispensing spout of a uniformed tapered exterior surface.

  • Patent number: 6824037
Abstract: The present invention solves a problem with a wire bonding device, that during a wire bonding process, a cover at the periphery of a working hole warps upward to cause inadvertent sparking to occur across the cover that has warped upwards and a torch electrode. This invention's bonding device 21 provided with recognition device is characterized in that insulation treatment is applied to a part 231 of a cover 23 positioned at the periphery of a working hole 24. The interior of a working region is kept, for example, at 230° C. by a heater 30 inside a setting base 22, and by being placed under high temperature constantly, a part 471 of cover 23 warps upwards. However, since insulation treatment is applied to part 231 of cover 23, a bonding device can be realized with which inadvertent sparking between a torch electrode 28 will not occur.

  • Patent number: 6824049
Abstract: A card transaction settlement method in a point of sale (POS) system is described. More particularly, a payment by either the credit or debit card is made after an approval before the card transaction (ABCT) for a virtual transaction amount (VTA) is given, and in which when the transaction is completed, an approval after the card transaction (AACT) for the actual transaction amount (ATA) is requested for the transaction settlement. Settlement can be conveniently accomplished since conflict between the merchant and the consumer, caused by a difference between the transaction amount and the debited can be eliminated. The merchant has less of the financial risk for refund. A signature is not necessary on the signature form, resulting in that true non-cashier self-service sales can be introduced to the sales management system.

Abstract: An apparatus for capturing images and barcodes. The apparatus has an image-sensing device and a lens having a variable-focal-length region and a substantially fixed-focal-length region. The variable-focal-length region focuses light onto a first region of the image-sensing device and the substantially fixed-focal-length region focuses light onto a second region of the image-sensing device. The variable-focal-length region varies such that different portions of that region of the lens focus objects at different distances from the lens in different areas of the first region of the image-sensing device. Thus, the device is able to focus, in the first region of the image-sensing device, objects at varying distances from the apparatus.

Abstract: Electronic systems, such as automobile radios, portable and other computing devices, and global positioning system receivers, often require that a correct security code be inputted from a small memory card that is removably inserted into a card slot of the system before the system is rendered operable in total or in part, or before certain data can be retrieved. The same type of memory card is also used to store digital data that is utilized by the system in conjunction with its function that is enabled by the security code, such data cards being removably inserted into the same card slot as the card containing the security code. Alternately, both the utilization data and the security code are included on a single card. • Patent number: 6824064
Abstract: A smart card capable of having a plurality of applications has a memory that is logically partitioned into a plurality of memory blocks. A control program allocates one or more blocks to one of the applications, upon a declaration from the application of its memory needs, and schedules the applications for execution. Only those applications whose memory needs have been satisfied are scheduled. The control program receives a permission request packet from a host, addressed to an application, and passes the permission request packet to the application. When the control program receives a permission packet from the addressed application after the addressed application has had its declared memory needs satisfied, the control program sends the permission packet to the host. A virtual machine is used to execute one or more of the applications. The control program communicates with the virtual machine to control scheduling to predetermined time granularity.

  • Patent number: 6824066
Abstract: A multi-page key card pamphlet is suitable for use with conventional electronic locks, and replaces the conventional one-piece key card having only two sides. The multi-page format provides additional space for printed material, while still being suitable for use in a conventional electronic lock. A programmable medium, such as for example a magnetic stripe or an integrated circuit device suitable for use on a Smart Card is located on one surface of the key card pamphlet. The multi-page key card pamphlet can be fabricated by folding a sheet having a thickness less than that of a conventional key card. A two panel key card thus contains twice as much space for printed matter as a conventional key card, and printed matter can be included on inside pages or surfaces as well as on the exterior of the key card.

  • Patent number: 6824069
Abstract: A programmable thermostat system for controlling space conditioning equipment includes: a transparent touch pad juxtaposed over a liquid crystal display to constitute a touch screen for interactive interface with a user; a temperature sensor; and a processor including: a CPU; a real time clock; and a memory for storing program and data information. A program stored in the memory directs the CPU to: A) selectively establish, on the liquid crystal display, a menu including a representation of a button at a predetermined XY position; B) read the position on the touch pad juxtaposed with the first predetermined position to determine if the button has been touched; and C) if the button has been touched, change to a different menu or establish a condition incorporated into the thermostat system operation. Preferably, an alphanumeric message explaining the function of the button is also displayed.

  • Patent number: 6824072
Abstract: A spray gun cleaning system uses a separate cleaning fluid container which is substituted for the normal applied product container of the spray gun. The product feed tube of the spray gun is inserted into the cleaning fluid container, which is then sealably clamped to the spray cap of the spray gun. The container has a side opening, to which one end of a fluid hose is sealably attached. The other end of the hose is sealably attached to the nozzle portion of the spray gun. Pressurized air is discharged into the spray gun and this pressurization causes the cleaning fluid to circulate through the spray gun. As long as the pressurized air is discharged into the spray gun, cleaning fluid will automatically continue to circulate, without user involvement, through the sealed, closed circuit or path formed by the body of the spray gun, the fluid hose, the cleaning fluid container, and the feed tube.

  • Patent number: 6824074
Abstract: An external mix air atomizing spray nozzle assembly having a nozzle body formed with liquid and air passages, a spray tip at a downstream end of the nozzle body having a nose portion that defines a liquid discharge orifice, and an air cap mounted in surrounding relation to the spray tip nose portion. The air cap defines an annular pressurized air orifice about the spray tip nose portion and a plurality of angled air passages disposed radially outwardly thereof. Pursuant to the invention, the spray tip nose portion has a frustoconical end tapering inwardly in a downstream direction which enhances air entrainment and minimizes liquid turbulence in a zone immediately in front of the air cap and around the spray tip nose portion to prevent undesirable build up of spray material on the exposed end surfaces of the spray tip nose portion and air cap.
