The tool is capable of engaging an inner surface of a drain flange in a manner that is sufficient to transfer enough force to remove screw-on drain flanges and is capable of use with various designs and sizes of screw-on drain flanges. Different size cams and different lever arms used on the cams allow the tool to optimize the radial force to torque ratio for both removal and insertion of screw-on drain flanges. In addition, nubs are used at the bottom of the drain flange to engage arms that typically are used on drain flanges to further add to the resistance that can be provided between the tool and the drain flange and distribute forces in a dynamic, instantaneous and automatic fashion to optimize removal of the drain flange.

Abstract: In manufacturing a pressure sensor a recess that will form part of the sensor cavity is formed in a lower silicon substrate. An SOI-wafer having a monocrystalline silicon layer on top of a substrate is bonded to the lower silicon substrate closing the recess and forming the cavity. The supporting substrate of the SOI-wafer is then etched away, the portion of the monocrystalline layer located above the recess forming the sensor diaphragm. The oxide layer of the SOI-wafer here acts as an “ideal” etch stop in the case where the substrate wafer is removed by dry (plasma) or wet etching using e.g. KOH. This is due to high etch selectivity between silicon and oxide for some etch processes and it results in a diaphragm having a very accurately defined and uniform thickness. The cavity is evacuated by forming a opening to the cavity and then sealing the cavity by closing the opening using LPCVD.

Abstract: This invention provides a two-stage phasing plug located within a compression driver. The two-stage phasing plug housed within the compression driver may be coupled to a horn. The two-stage phasing plug includes first and second phasing plugs. The advantages of having a two-stage phasing plug is that the first and second phasing plugs may be simpler to manufacture, cost less and the overall dimensional tolerances may be tightly controlled. The higher dimensional tolerances may be obtained because the first phasing plug may be made from a unitary work-piece, and therefore, may be tooled and cut in the same machining set up. This allows the unitary work-piece to be machined and cut very accurately when compared to assembling separate components together during the manufacturing process. Since the most dimensionally critical area is the rear side of the first phasing plug, the tolerances of the second phasing plug may not be as critical.

Abstract: An electrical terminal includes a generally planar base pad having two opposed legs and an intermediate portion. The base pad legs have proximal and distal ends and are joined at the proximal ends to the intermediate portion. The legs are spaced apart from each other to form a gap between the legs. The base pad legs have inner edges facing each other which extend away from each other moving away from the proximal ends of the base pad legs to the distal ends. A connector arm having a neck extends upwardly from the intermediate portion of the base pad between the base pad legs and terminates in a blade connector for engaging with a mating terminal. The neck has a proximal end with a width that is less than the gap between the proximal ends of the base pad legs by about ½ mm to 3 mm. The neck has a narrowing section moving away from the proximal end of the neck.

Abstract: A catalytic reactor consists of a plurality of thin tray-like metal sheets (12, 13) each with a peripheral rim (14) and arranged as a stack to define first gas flow channels between adjacent sheets, alternating with second gas flow channels between adjacent sheets, so as to ensure good thermal contact between gases in the first and the second gas flow channels. Each sheet (12) and (13) also defines at least four apertures (16, 17, 18, 19) for flow of gases, and tubes (20) and (21) seal apertures in one sheet to corresponding apertures in the adjacent sheet. The gas flows through the channels may be guided by corrugations (15), and are preferably in countercurrent in adjacent channels. Appropriate catalysts are coated onto the sheets (12) and (13) in the two gas flow channels.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method for producing a fluid treatment device having a honeycomb member in a metallic cylindrical housing with a shock absorbent member wrapped around the honeycomb member. The method comprises the steps of (1) inserting the honeycomb member with the shock absorbent member wrapped around the honeycomb member, into the cylindrical housing, (2) forming a necking portion on at least one end portion of the cylindrical housing, with a body portion thereof being clamped, and (3) reducing a diameter of at least a part of the cylindrical housing with the shock absorbent member received therein, together with the shock absorbent member, to such an extent that a desired inner diameter of the part of the cylindrical housing is provided enough to cause the shock absorbent member to produce a desired holding pressure for holding the honeycomb member in the cylindrical housing.

Abstract: The invention relates to an extra-roll slide bearing system (20) for a paper/board machine or a finishing machine, surrounding a shaft (2) in a roll (1). The bearing system comprises a body section (5), which is formed with a bearing housing (7) provided with hydrostatic bearing elements (3, 3A) disposed around the shaft (2). The bearing elements are fitted with slide elements (4, 4A), having a sliding surface (16) directed towards the shaft (2). Between the slide elements (4) and the shaft (2) is a bushing (6), which is mounted on the shaft (2) for rotation therewith, said slide elements (4, 4A) being adapted to position themselves around the bushing (6) with the sliding surfaces (16) against the external surface of the bushing directed away from the shaft for supporting said shaft (2), and hence the roll (1), rotatably relative to the body section (5). The bearing housing (7) has its axial ends provided with end caps (8, 9), along with packing elements (12, 14) therefor, for sealing the bearing housing.

Abstract: Disposable razors are known. Unfortunately, “wet-shaving” is required with these razors which can be an inconvenience if the appropriate facilities are not readily available. Dry shaving would be ideal but dry shavers are not designed to be cheap enough to be disposable. The problem of providing a razor that could be used for wet or dry shaving that is cheap enough to throw away after a few uses is solved by the provision of a power operated razor 1 comprising a head 2 incorporating one or more cutter containing shaver heads 11, a body 3, a power supply 4 operatively connected to the or each cutter and an actuator 8 to actuate the razor 1, their arrangement being such that there is no normal means of access to the interior of the razor 1. This alleviates the problem because access to the working parts to replace them is denied.
