  • Patent number: 6826819
Abstract: A tire molding apparatus and technique is provided for the ventless molding of tires. According to the invention, a series of pitches is formed in an appropriate REN board, plaster, or like material with the implementation of a CNC machine. An aluminum pour casting is made from the model in which the various pitches are separated by voids which allow for the entry of a cutting tool such that each individual pitch or tire tread segment can be cut from the aluminum casting. Sipe locations are then cut into the model. Master rubbers or foundry tooling is then created and the castings poured. The individual pitches are then matingly interengaged in a puzzle-like fashion along the interior of a tire mold to define the tread portion of the mold. Venting of the mold is achieved at the pitch line formed at the intersection of each of the pitches.

  • Patent number: 6826837
Abstract: A sleeve for surrounding a power cord, in whole or in part, for appliances such as hedge trimmers. The sleeve, preferably composed of a lightweight polymeric material in corrugated, convoluted, or similar form, has relatively large radial dimensions compared to the cord and therefore resists the insertion of the sleeve and the cord into appliances (such as a hedge trimmers cutting blades) thereby preventing damage to the sleeve and the cord and preventing other undesired results. The relatively large size of the sleeve tends to increase the user's awareness of the sleeve and cord. Also the sleeve's increased rigidity compared to the cord aids in preventing the cord from being entangled in the appliance and assists in managing and manipulating the cord. The sleeve includes at least one aperture to facilitate the dissipation of heat generated by the power cord.

Abstract: A light leveling device includes a housing having a chamber to rotatably receive a light instrument which may generate a light beam or a reference line out through the housing. One or more batteries may be used to energize the light instrument. The light instrument may be rotated relative to the housing, for allowing the light beam or the reference line to be rotated relative to the wall members. The light instrument includes a knurled surface to be rotated by users. The light instrument includes a projection slidably engaged in a curved passage of the housing, to limit the rotational movement of the light instrument relative to the housing.

  • Patent number: 6826843
Abstract: An apparatus and method for determining the orientation of Earth's magnetic poles. A magnet is pivotally coupled to a support and is free to orient itself with Earth's magnetic pole. A detector is fixed relative to the support and outputs a signal indicative of the magnet orientation. A display displays an indication of the relative orientation of Earth's magnetic pole consistent with the output signal. Plural detectors can be employed to increase resolution of the apparatus. The detectors can be optical detectors. A shutter is fixed to the magnet and the detectors sense the shutter position. The shutter has a patterned formed thereon with transmissive portions and opaque portions. Shutter blinds are added to limit the dispersion of light.
